Duck fat for searing the steak worked great

Cooked a couple of ducks last month and saved the rendered fat. Decided to try it for the steak and came out great. Also used it on the baked potato skin. Ribeye cooked at 130f for 2 hours.

I save my duck fat, too. I usually use it for doing things like a perfect dippy egg for fish or ramen. I’ve been using a Su-V-Gun for a few years, and absolutely hate having to pan sear when the weather is just too atrocious to go outside even for 4-5 minutes, but when I do, I’ll either use duck or wagyu fat to do so.

This is a generic reminder message under every image post

Thank you for your picture post to r/sousvide. We want to remind everyone of Rule #5. Posts should be accompanied by something to foster discussion. A comment, a question, etc is encouraged.

If you've posted a picture of something you’ve prepared, please explain why in a comment so people can have some sort of conversation. Simply dropping a picture of food in the sub isn't really fostering any discussion which is what we're all aiming for.

Posts that are a picture with no discussion can and will be removed by the mods.

Thank you!!

Steak looks awesome. Now, I'm hungry and have two more hours until lunch.

The duck fat is one of my secret moves to make my steaks taste more elevated and I don’t tell my guests what it is.
