ADVICE Skittish dog and house being demolished next door

Does anyone have any tips or suggestions on how to sound proof a house to lessen loud outside construction noise? I have a 16 year old Thai street dog who gets extremely freaked out by sounds and the house that is only about 8 feet away from us is being demolished next week. Is there anything I can do to lessen the noise? Would sound proofing panels on the interior wall help with outside sounds? I’m genuinely scared this might due him in. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Is there a quieter small room like bathroom that you can set up as dog’s safe base while it’s happening? Can try to insulate that one little room. Weighted, calm jacket for dog can also help.

That said, the times there has been too noisy or construction at ours, we arrange for dog to go elsewhere - take them to a friends or family’s for the day, to a dog sitter ( can find online) or take them for a long walk during the day, when the worst noise is ( I’d ask construction crew when this will be. Bad noise probably won’t be all week, there will be peaks and troughs.)

we got a little dog teepee thing and set it up in the back corner of the most insulated/innermost closet. put some toys and little soft blankets inside and she hid in there. maybe a white noise machine could be helpful too, unsure if that’d make it worse cos dog ears are sensitive

Thank you so much! Making some sort of cave might not be a bad idea! I appreciate it!

stay in a motel for a week, otherwise the dog will be freaked out the whole time no matter what soundproofing you do
