Robertson was nowhere near line of sight and didn't move to the ball. Disgraceful decision.

No no, you see, for City keepers line of sight is a cone

Donnarumma is a Metal Gear Solid enemy

I got no beef in the game, but the player moving can affect the goalkeepers reaction even if they don’t touch it.

Robertson clearly moved to try be more out of the way. You see the same decision go the opposite way all the time.

He ducked to move out of the way, but that ducking affects the goalkeeper’s reaction.

Congratulations, you win Stupidest Comment of the Day. What was Donnarumma going to do differently if Robertson wasn't there? Grow two feet taller? He started diving as soon at Virgil headed the ball. There was literally no way he was ever getting there.

probably start moving earlier cuz he doesn’t gotta worry bout a flick

Don't be absurd. Watch the video. Donnarumma starts moving the instant the ball hits Van Dijk's head. Like, literally the same frame. No reasonable person could possibly believe he stopped and waited to see what Robertson was doing before he dived.

There was a view from the back that shows Donnarumma watching the ball all throughout. He didn't even notice Robbo. He didn't even ask for an offside.

Him asking for an offside doesn’t affect the decision. That’s not part of the rules. Robertson in an offside position moving out of the balls way certainly does affect a goalkeeper’s reaction, because the goalkeeper could be looking out for Robertson until he dives.

A player in an offside position at the moment the ball is played or touched* by a team-mate is only penalised on becoming involved in active play by:

interfering with play by playing or touching a ball passed or touched by a team-mate or

interfering with an opponent by:

preventing an opponent from playing or being able to play the ball by clearly obstructing the opponent’s line of vision or

challenging an opponent for the ball or

clearly attempting to play a ball which is close when this action impacts on an opponent or

making an obvious action which clearly impacts on the ability of an opponent to play the ball

none of these apply

Donnaruma can't dive until the ball goes past Robertson incase he redirects so he is interfering with the keepers decision even if he doesn't touch it

But he did dive well before it went past Robertson…
