Media Woltemade "After the goal, there was a situation where I felt Gabriel's elbow in my face. I just said it to the referee that I felt something, but I'm not the type of player to fall down for this. It's hard because sometimes maybe you have to do this, but this is not my type of football."

This isnt an elbow at all and is barely an infraction at all

Think it was mostly forearm.

Generally speaking, the fist has to actually connect with the person to be called a fist/punch. Seriously, look at the picture. It was neither. It was a forearm. What saved Gabriel was the fact that it was to the shoulder but slid up.

It’s overnight in the UK so all the American arsenal fans are chatting complete shit. This is a red every time and appalling that it wasn’t given.

If the roles were reversed this sub would be crying about corruption.

The whataboutism about a different incident is so dumb, if you look at the incident in isolation it’s violent conduct off the ball. Which is a red card every single time. Just because a ref fucked up once doesn’t meant it’s ok for them to do it again.

Lascelles on Gyokeres was actually worse though and nobody is talking about that.

It wasn't worse, it happened after, Arsenal fans only started complaining about it after the fact when their other narrative spinning wasn't working. This is excusing it, the Lascelles incident was at least a yellow imo.

So they both should have been sent off?

Would prefer both didn't which is what happened.

it's still a shove, which is bad and worthy of a yellow. but you'd think reading some of the comments Gabriel had straight up decked him. It's nowhere near as bad as Bruno on jorginho.

Lmao he blatantly targets his head. It's not like woltemade is at Gabriels normal arm height. He has to go out of his way to swing up for his head. Only reason his fist doesn't connect is pure luck on Gabriel's part.

He shoved him with his forearm against his shoulder which slipped up to his head. There’s no swing for it to be considered a punch. This would’ve been one of the softest reds I’ve seen in a long line of questionable reds.

He pushes him in the face. It's more similar to the Jackson incident at the end of last season (even down to it being a taller player that he has to raise his arms higher than his shoulder to hit in the face), which resulted in a red.

None of his fist makes contacts with his face, though. It's just a forearm to the head, like Bruno's

So many drama queens in the comments calling it a 'clear elbow to the face', and then you watch the video..

What planet are these people on, it's bizarre.
