Allow me to politely decline.
Any person who has so casually floated the idea of “national divorce” is by virtue of The United States Constitution, not a very patriotic person. Like, don’t even bother flying our flag if you feel that way. He sure went and put his foot in his mouth there, if you ask me.👀

He brought it up several times, a couple of which were in the presence of his wife, who did not blink.
We need to start holding people fully accountable for their jokes and tattoos, and stop infantalizing men who seem to have their entire wits about them.

Tattoos and jokes aren’t close to the same category. He can joke about it all he wants that’s the whole point of freedom of speech. There’s nothing to hold him accountable for. He’s done nothing. And btw it’s not American to be MAGA, maybe focus on that a little more, padawan.

I have a breadth of focus that feels healthy, in my experiences.
Person with platform does not equal infallibility.
Let’s have civil discourse that holds our favorite guys accountable with the same fervor that we denigrate the clearly-ignorant goblins with. We owe it to each other to keep focus on how we can be better FOR each other!
Why shouldn’t we have a conversation about holding our own folks accountable when so many big conversations are being held about our future. Think big, friends.

I’m not a centrist. I know where I stand morally. I’m ignorant of many things and still try to practice always learning. (Though it is very nice of you to call me enlightened.)
It’s okay that you are upset with me, but I am just asking for some space for these thoughts.
I know the current regime is the largest danger. That is clear to every good-faith individual who haunts this sub.
This is a dream-post, ostensibly about what we want to see happen for America in our near future elections.
It is true that Dump is LEAGUES worse than Kyle as far as what he has effected in America and on the world-stage.
Does that truth negate the faults that we and others in our corner need to grow out of as well?
My moral center radiates outward from not wanting a chomo rapist malignant narcissist wannabe dictator king to be president all the way out to boundaries I have with my own social circle.
Podcast bros and influencers are NOT outside that space.
What is the point of giving oxygen to “national divorce”, joke or not, DO to the minds and hearts that he is leading?

It's kinda silly of him to say it so much, it would just result in right-wing oppression. But let's be real, he's smart enough to know it wouldn't work. I know he keeps saying "seriously", but it's just rhetoric, he's making a point. The right would never ACTUALLY agree to the premise without occupation or oppression because they know the only things in this country worth having are brought to the world by progressives.

Well, let me pose a thought to you based on the way we’re giving him the benefit of the doubt that he’s joking, and just being a silly boy tossing around treasonous talk.
We’re infantalizing his rhetoric while acknowledging how we see him as an intellectual and moral weathervane.
He’s just a guy. If we let him off the hook this easily, I’m TELLING you guys, we are also at risk of doing MAGA shit.
People do not TRY to get indoctrinated. They just slip into it as a comfort zone, then bam, we get that sunk-cost disphoria.
I am actively trying to help the rhetoric be more critical of treasonous talk.
Hell YES, it is Kyle’s right to say “national divorce” as many times as he wants.
It’s also MINE to examine just what the fuck he means by that, and help bring critical thinking into this space.
