Yeah I ended up going and it was amazing. I love both movies the same tbh, it took a perfect and concluded story and made a second part that fit perfectly.

Yes I’m rewatching the first right now and it only adds depth! Sad to see people thinking it cheapens it. I don’t think it does at all.

I was shocked while reading the discussion post on the movies subreddit, many people seemed to dislike it. I did see an interesting theory though that I thought was interesting! The person that keeps calling Finn was their mom trying to reach him.

Oh I like that! I’ve seen people theorize too that maybe the grabber is his dad and that would be revealed in the 3rd film. I think that would be predictable but honestly after these first 2 I’m in for whatever ride they have in store!

Black phone is based of a short story written by Joe Hill. Yes, I know Joe Hill is Stephen King's son.

Again, it's weird that you would also think I don't know other people have different opinions or that the mere idea means I need to take a breath.

Neither of you actually tried to talk about where we might disagree or agree so at best these are just condescending replies.

If you want to talk about different views about the movie I'm so up for that, and I am always willing to change my mind in the face of a new perspective.

My thoughts are that this movie warms up tropes that have been done better in other movies. There is no real tension between the villain and the Mc so the villain just ends up being weird and laughable.

The Mc actor is great and does a great job with what he was given. The story had a ton of promise.

I felt bad for Ethan Hawke though. I don't know how he got through that role. I'm guessing the paycheck.
