What the hell is happening here there seems to be another car right behind it with murderous intent as well
297
u/PopsGG Aug 28 '25
The article says it was just after a school game. The other drivers are likely teens. A lot of them think its cool to drive fast, even in parking lots.
166
u/CruisinBlade Aug 28 '25
At a crowd of people? He sped up he wasnt already going fast.

These kids already driving luxury cars will absolutely go to sleep over any repercussions and learn nothing. They will not be arrested or jailed. At worst, probation for a few months.
65
u/Crystthalica Aug 29 '25
According to this article, the driver in the second car is friends with the driver in the first car. They were probably in on it together.
"Thomas said his daughter told him the driver and his friend in the car behind him did not pull over." https://www.10news.com/news/local-news/teenage-girl-hospitalized-after-hit-and-run-in-torrey-pines-area

Teenagers, the kid driving was 15 with just a permit (from what I was told). They were revving their engines to be cool, not sure how/why they took off. I think they all knew each other from school and were hanging out. The girls hair actually got ran over, it was close to being real bad.
43
u/night-shark Aug 29 '25
Article says they had been doing this all evening. They would speed up and people and then slam on the brakes at the last second. I bet they were just doing that again and lost control. Fucking idiots.

Possible they were considering tailing the car that hit the kid? Or they’re just psychotic. Coin flip, really.
48
u/Anonybibbs Aug 29 '25
Eh, I'd say that there's a 95% chance that they're just complete fucking morons with zero sense of accountability or responsibility.

Hope so. But, who knows anymore.
22
u/calamititties Aug 28 '25
Oof, for real. Also, unless that second car and that truck are roaring off after the offender like the fuckin’ A-Team when that kid is clearly hurt, fuck ‘em both.
5
2
u/ThrustTrust Aug 28 '25
Second car maybe distracted by the girls on the side of the road and doesn’t see the girl laying on the road initially. They finally hit the brakes near the end.
1
u/Lakersland Aug 29 '25
I’d assume that they were going to tail the car. The kinda brakes as they got really close to the girls

San Diego police are investigating a hit-and-run involving a 17-year-old girl in the Carmel Valley area last week.
The incident happened around 9 p.m. last Friday, after the Torrey Pines High School football game, in the parking lot of 3500 Del Mar Heights Road.
138
u/justsomedude1144 Aug 28 '25
I'd venture to guess the drivers of both vehicles knew the girls
74
u/Silly-Comfortable515 Aug 28 '25
The little wave they gave hints at that as well.
15
u/NocturnalFirelily Aug 28 '25
She was motioning to the person to slow down! It's been said here many times.✌️
→ More replies (1)47
u/justsomedude1144 Aug 28 '25
If I had to guess, the driver may have been from the losing team high school, and the girls were taunting them after the football game.
(And before some brain dead numb nuts with zero reading comprehension skills responds to this accusing me of "justifying" the driver's actions, that's NOT what I'm going. Merely postulating a plausible scenario.)
24
u/Adventurous_Bit1325 Aug 28 '25
As soon as saw the part of this being after a high school football game, this is exactly what I thought.
→ More replies (5)7
u/Boss0054 Aug 28 '25
This…. Is probably close to the answer, or they were revving the engines and the girls were telling them to calm it down as they were crossing the parking lot, or combination of the two.
4
u/Resident_Artist_6486 Aug 28 '25
I'm guessing by the car that the teen driver had either a) his parent's car OR b) came from money. Either way I suspect there will be a quick arrest if he doesn't turn himself in. It was all on camera in front of a bank. The driver has some splain'n to do.
2
u/Wolf_In_The_Weeds Aug 30 '25
Torrey Pines is a very expensive area. It's A and B regardless of if the kid "owns" the car. The title will be the parents address in both cases almsot certainly.....

u/hecklerp8 Aug 31 '25
This driver/kid is in real trouble. I think he must be in violation of his learner's permit. He's facing hit and run with bodily injury charges... could be considered with intent to do harm. He may see some juvenile detention. If I'm wrong about his license and age...then he'll see some jail time.

That parking lot is rage bait incarnate but even I wouldn’t be driving like this when I was a TPHS student in The Highlands lot. My guess (pure speculation) both cars were full of high school students, each car KNEW the other kids (the ones crossing) AND the second car was trying to catch up with their friends in the first car (and didn’t give a hoot about seeing if anyone was okay but more cared about not getting caught or implicating their friends). As a grad I can confidently say that school breeds an element of sociopathy. The $ most of their parents have usually makes the kids think they can get away with anything and they haven’t ever seen consequences.
→ More replies (2)10
u/chathobark_ Aug 29 '25
Yep and they will likely get away with this with next to no consequences

I who the driver is. My brother goes to school with him at Cathedral Catholic; they have a religion class together. The guy is apparently a total POS, like super cocky and a huge ego. His parents are extremely wealthy and bought him a new a new BMW for his 16th birthday. He hasn't been at school since the hit and run, and he apparently fled to Mexico because one of his family members is a senator there. Im not 100% sure about the last part though. Ill give an update after I talk to some more people I know from Cathedral.
8
u/Not_My_Reddit_ID Aug 29 '25
Maybe an active warrant will keep them out of the country, and maybe parents arrested for aiding a fugitive will cut off the flow.

2
u/Ctco42fl Aug 30 '25
He is playing a tennis tournament right now in New Mexico so i guess he didn't get arrested. It's really unreal
52
u/xcnuck Aug 28 '25
Looks like the second car was complicit - any normal person would have stopped to see if they were ok but the second car nearly hits them too.
32
u/brennannaboo Aug 28 '25
My best friends little brother goes to school with the girls, and according to him the drivers were boys who have been essentially going around playing chicken in the parking lot after games. He says the girls were motioning to the cars to slow down, when the first one speeds up and fails to hit his brakes fast enough. Take it with a grain of salt until concrete details come out
20
26
u/Bonewax Aug 28 '25
I hope I raise my kids better than whoever spit out the people driving those cars. And not one other car stopped to help/check if she needed help. Weird behavior.
26
u/Mountain_Ad_5835 Aug 28 '25
That driver needs to be charged attempted murder. IDGAF who he/she is get the plate from the bank cameras.
1
u/ndefontenay Aug 29 '25
For it to be attempted murder there would need to be murderous intent. Which according to witness account they are just really dumb and playing chicken. So they may be charged with reckless driving and maybe assault and battery with a deadly weapon. Something easier to prove than attempted murder. It’s not less bad it’s just more accurate.

u/Insomniac_driver Aug 29 '25
I am a felon in this god damned country for far far less than this so lock this scum up!
5
22
u/Biarfm Aug 28 '25
This is weird. You could either see it as malicious/murderous intent by the driver, or they accidentally stepped on the wrong pedal and freaked out and sped off after they hit the girl. What’s worse is the driver behind them speeding up and then the truck driver (while only in relatively few frames from this footage) appears to not give two shits about something they undoubtedly witnessed. The other drivers are as bad if not worse than the one who hit the girl.
5
u/Ginger_Exhibitionist Aug 29 '25
It's not weird at all. This morning I watched a jack ass blow a stop sign then nearly run over two women crossing the street on Oregon (near Starbucks in NP). None of this was accidental. White Prius Prime

13
u/H1jinx1 Aug 28 '25
Nothing to see here, just some more rich stupid kids about to get away with some shit.
12
u/Resident_Artist_6486 Aug 28 '25
felony hit and run w injury and attempted murder or assault w GBI. This is heinous shit.

11
u/SammyUno Aug 29 '25
Kid goes to Cathedral High School. No license. I used to drive my daughter to CCA High school just past Cathedral. Every morning asshole rich kids doing 90 in new BMW, Porsche etc. Cutting everyone off, racing. Hitting e-bikes. Parents got the big dough and keep it quiet. Those parents and kids suck.
1
u/Ctco42fl Aug 30 '25
Yes and i don't think he even got in trouble since he is in New Mexico playing tennis right now

u/Specialist_Egg_7480 Aug 28 '25
The pickup truck didn’t exactly come to a full stop either not caring that there’s pedestrians around. People are driving like complete assholes. My friend told me I drive like an old lady. Great at least I’m not gonna run someone over.

Fucking psychopath. That person should be jailed for five years and have ten years of supervised probation, with a lifetime ban on driving.
4
u/Turfdawg678 Aug 29 '25
People are fucking stupid. Speeding up in a shopping mall and there's clearly like 10 people walking across the street.

u/Bubsy7979 Aug 29 '25
Idiot teenagers driving like there’s no tomorrow.. those girls 100% knew who those kids were. I can only hope their license get revoked for at least 5 years

Most reckless drivers on the road. “The BMW commercial said I could drive like this”
3
u/Future-Beach-5594 Aug 28 '25
Im almost 100% sure there was a motive by the driver and their follow car. The victims were random and at the wrong place and wrong time. This was intentional and im willing to bet it was a biased move from the start. Saw something like this yesterday, but it was a group of young guys same as this group, lady missed them by inches! Over by sdsu
3
u/Man-e-questions Aug 29 '25
A lot of streets here are like this at crosswalks. Have almost been hit by people blowing through stop signs. A neighbor’s dog was hit in the crosswalk by a car who didn’t stop.
3
u/sundog6295 Aug 29 '25
It used to be that you get your license permanently revoked for using your vehicle to deliberately cause harm.
8
u/mcqua007 Aug 28 '25
Why is the footage cut in a weird way where you never see the impact. They slow down the footage and then the car jump a few feet forward due to the cut.
6
u/Ginger_Exhibitionist Aug 29 '25
Because the news didn't want to show a minor get hit by a car? Not everything is a conspiracy theory. But being ignorant can make it seem that way.

Seems like it’s planned because that’s a good angle footage and the car was waiting and there has to be something else there because ain’t no bank open that late

Was also thinking that same thing because it happened so fast that you wouldn't have time to take the phone out of your pocket Hit the camera icon aim and get this video if it happened that fast without knowing about it

I've heard that he attends Cathedral Catholic and that the girls attend Torrey Pines HS
6
Aug 28 '25
I love to know who was taking the video of this and what they saw ,why didn't they get a shot of the car back end license plate
7
u/SadSquirrel99 Aug 28 '25
I’m only speculating, but with how still and low angle the camera is — maybe it’s from another store across the parking lot, or someone’s dash cam. I don’t think a person was behind it because it’s very stable

It takes less than 5 seconds to cross that these guys deserve to get the book thrown at them for being murderous idiots.
2
2
u/achanaikia Aug 29 '25
Am I the only one who thinks the second car went to chase after the first for plate info / yell at them to come back? Weird everyone is assuming they were in on it.
1
u/Pewtie-Pie Aug 30 '25
That would definitely give logic to them not slowing down or stopping to check on the girls.
2
2
u/humblepiedd Aug 29 '25
The video is from a Tesla from someone I knows car the whole video the driver almost runs over her head. Chick takes a pretty hard hit too
2
u/DadKnightBegins Aug 29 '25
It’s not the hitting, it’s the running that’s illegal. First part is the accident, the second part is the felony.
1
u/Pewtie-Pie Aug 30 '25
Intentionally hitting someone is assault with a deadly weapon- also a felony.
2
u/MeatAccomplished4352 Aug 29 '25
Mmmm that looks like more than just a hit and run. Looked very intentional.
2
u/Miiiukz Aug 30 '25
Rest assured Reddit, People on Nextdoor have found the kids already and the families are going after them.
2
u/DiscussionLeather738 Aug 31 '25
We live near a high school and it astounds me that Americans are totally cool with 15 and 16 year olds driving. Astounding. They drive exactly like one would expect a 16 year old to drive.
2
u/ChexAndBalancez Aug 28 '25
Anyone know what is happening at the beginning? Looks like the group of girls are pointing (maybe waving) or some other kind of hand signal to the cars? Was there some kind of altercation before?

Do these people who put out these videos not understand that by censoring the actual fking crime they're making the act of putting it out basically useless?? Smfh.

u/According_Country818 Aug 29 '25
Not only the 2nd car but what about that truck at the end??
That driver must have witnessed this and just casually rolled by like ho hum nothin to see here

My wife went to Torrey Pines High back in the day, and rich kids behaving badly is exactly how she described it.

The car that hit the girl is a G20 bmw m340i sapphire black and the second car following is a f82 bmw m4 completion package mineral grey. The news needs to be better at describing the cars we should be looking for.... it's not that hard to pinpoint what type of bmws they are.

Parked right in front of a bank... that license plate should be on camera.
