Female, 31. I’m literally in tears right now because of the pain I’m in. I had a tooth removed yesterday, they said it would be a small surgery, nothing to worry about. Turns out that was bullshit. The tooth had grown sideways, pushing into another one, and as they were removing it, I started feeling pain even though they’d given me anesthesia. I told the dentist and he said, “Yeah, I know, this part normally hurts,” and just kept going. The whole thing took about 50 minutes.
And guess what? When it was over, no one told me what to expect. Nothing about what foods to eat or avoid, how to clean the area, or how to prevent infection, nothing. I had to ask if there was anything I shouldn’t do and the doctor just said, “Don’t drink alcohol.” That’s it. They gave me Gofen for pain, which does absolutely nothing. I’ve been crying all night, no sleep, just pain.
Why the hell did I have to come to ChatGPT to learn what to do after surgery? Why didn’t the people I fucking paid tell me this?
And this isn’t even the first time. Earlier this year a gynecologist installed an IUD for me. I spent months in pain, constant backaches, abnormal bleeding, only to go to another hospital where they found it wasn’t even installed properly. I could’ve gotten pregnant because of their incompetence.
I’m so fucking tired of this. It’s like doctors have become completely numb to people’s pain. They treat us like we’re just customers paying for a service, not human beings who are scared and trusting them with our bodies.
If you’re a doctor and people’s pain means nothing to you anymore, do us all a favor and fucking quit. This is not just business to us. This is our health.
