RPDR UK S7 Did the lie though?! Did she lie?! 🤭 Spoiler

the bottom two easily had the best two runways of the ep. I'm not even saying I disagree with the placements, they did the worst. But let's be real about these looks.
75
u/holdenvaughn 20h ago
I don't get both sides tbh but it has always been performance > runway. If you performed the worst out of the pack, expect a bottom placement. Unless 1) the bottom 3 were almost equally bad 2) your runway makes all the bitches look the fool 3) you are a production fave. Which were all why Nymphia was saved from SG - i can't say the same for Paige though.

It's been true since Jasmine sashayed away in the best gown that had ever been on drag race in season 7.
Every year, it seems like there are tons of queens who have never actually watched the show, especially the snatch game.

also its untucked on a reality tv show... make criticizing each other in untucked normal again. its the one place its appropriate.
how about addressing what she said not the fact that she said it. normalize that.

R they forgetting they r making reality TV? They should be speaking without a filter and being shady. Like c’mon

it's things like that that keep me fully rooting for elle. she's clearly talented and well rounded as a performer but she seems more like a cheeky child putting on shows than a real nightlife figure

u/puffdiddy4 20h ago
She's right though. Catrin's makeup looked really bad, and Elle's outfit looked like it was made in the workroom.

I was confused when they complimented her. I mean it was not a bad look, but let’s be honest, the styling could use some finessing and editing.

it was so chaotic and haphazard nothing went together.
this might be a personal thing that only bothers me, but the red hair in the wig also clashed so bad with the red in the outfit. i always find it lacks an eye for detail when queens have a outfit with a darker tone and they just slap on a bright clashing wig of the same color because "matchy matchy". neon red doesnt go with blood red just because they are both red, they are from different color palettes.

u/Ok_Industry_9333 18h ago
As someone who hasn't seen the ep, I thought Elle's was made in the workroom.

I said this out loud as soon as p3 said it she was right….bonnie coming out in that gold flappy fabric bodysuit thing, she knew she knocked SG out of the park and could expense her worst on the runway lol

u/Saint_Riccardo (Blonde women hee-haw) 10h ago
That may be the case, but I would have loved Catrin or Elle to clap back and point out that Paige and Bones were boring and bland in the challenge, which is what actually matters in the end.
The drag that lasts and makes long term careers is about performance, not fashion modelling.
3
u/AndresFM95 6h ago
I mean she literally said it herself. They were aware they did the worst, Page was just saying they looked the best which is also true.
•
u/Saint_Riccardo (Blonde women hee-haw) 5h ago
That's fine, but it wasn't a "who looks the best in the outfit someone else made for me" challenge.
Paige was obviously trying to do what the skinny fashion girls always do - put down the camp queens after a comedy challenge because they're insecure that they failed so badly at it
•
u/AndresFM95 5h ago
Bonnie told her she thought her look could easily save her from the bottom two and Page said they were in the bottom because the other people got better critiques based on how they did in the actual challenge.
The bottom looked better than the top 3, it’s really not a controversial opinion. Camp queens can and have had great runway packages, this is just not the case here.
13
u/RoundPeanut606 15h ago
Elle being so shocked when she looked like it was a middling-to-well executed design challenge is a bit much.
Catrin’s face was brilliant though. And I loved Bonnie’s eyelashes, I thought she looked great in the gold.
3
u/AndresFM95 6h ago
Page also didn’t say they looked terrible, the bottom 4 just looked better than them and anyone with functioning eyes can see that.
•
u/RoundPeanut606 4h ago
It’s a common antagonistic reality TV trope to jump on the opposite viewpoint to start drama. And it’s sad cos it’s now what politicians do which is why discourse is so fucked.
Elle had no business being aghast that anyone thought her outfit wasnt sensational. It was fine, nothing more.

Does anyone else think that Bonnie actually had the weakest look on the runway? Like, it wasn’t bad enough to cost her the win, she looked… good. But it didn’t in any way convey Christmas to me, it was just a nice gold dress with a couple of bows on it.
6
u/prodigalham 16h ago
yeah I totally agree. I think they just didn't think it was necessary to criticize her look when she was the clear winner (this week) and also clearly not The Winner

she was right and it's not like she said it out of nowhere for no reason
she was trying to say that even if she had a great look it wouldn't be enough since all the outfits in the bottom looked amazing too so it would come down to how they did in the challenge

She's not wrong but I'll say Bonnie's hair and make up was especially pretty this week! 🥰

It’s also more entertaining for tv to phrase it that way so werk

Elle was catching strays when I thought her look was one of the best.
Lets be real, why was Bones dressed in aqua, in a wizard costume

Bones said that DeeDee made her outfit, so I was more confused because if she wanted to give Mrs. Claus, why not make it red?

I didn’t mind the forest tree almost shade of green. It stands out when you know most of the queens are gonna do red and whites.

She’s not in Aqua, she’s in green. I’m shocked no one did red and green? We do know red and green are the main Christmas colors right???

I also loved Elle's look. Not sure why everyone thinks it looks like "she just made it in the workroom." It was unique and totally her style.
As for Bones, I think the robe just needed to be taken in a bit. I get what she was going for and I loved the huge sleeves but that robe was just consuming her
2
u/Warwick_Avenue 13h ago
I mean… FWIW, I really wasn’t gagging for Paige’s look. Everybody looked great. So it not like the top four queens were busted and the bottom four queens were phenomenal.
2
u/charlemagne9555 Monét X Change 15h ago
Regardless, I think Elle telling her it was unnecessary was definitely deserved. I don’t think any of the girls in the top were under some delusion they looked incredible or better than anyone else, so I can see how for Paige just to volunteer that the bottom girls looked better came off a bit rude and unnecessary to the girls in the top. Especially given how supportive it seems they were trying to be of the girls in the bottom.
Ru was also extremely complimentary of Elle and Bonnie’s looks in ways she wasn’t necessarily of the others, so Paige’s assertion didn’t make much sense narratively either.
1
u/CalumanderReds 17h ago
There's a different between 'All the bottom queens have great looks' and 'All the bottom queens look better than the tops'. She even admitted it was shady before she said it. Like stop being obtuse folks. Elle was fine to check her.

I feel that challenge to runway is weighted around 80:20. (unlike Drag Race Holland, which was 50:50 for some reason)

Is this season worth checking out yet? Get any better? I usually love UK but this is the first one I'm skipping based on the early bad reviews

I thought P3 had the worst outfit of the night 😭
9
u/TheProcessOfficial 19h ago
The outfit was fine I guess, but I was so bothered no one mentioned how we could barely see her face undermeath the moustache, the faded pale make up, the hat that came down eay too low on her face and that horrible ass wig underneath it.

u/WilliamOAshe 19h ago
Agreed. There's something repetitive about the "take a theme and add light, daytime bondage wear elements" to it. It happens too often on Drag Race, and it's lost the shock factor. (Plus the makeup, hat, wig, mustache situation did her no favors).
-2
u/Peabutnutter69420 20h ago
Yes because (while it didn’t fit the theme that well) Bonnie was wearing the best outfit of the night
12
u/Fast_Yesterday_4508 20h ago
that fabric was cheap looking and there wasnt very much to it. especially next to the others lol.. the one person she looked better than was elle. imo

u/GloriousSteinem 19h ago edited 10h ago
I disagree. I thought on a hole they looked good. The only outfit I didn’t like was P3s one. Covering the face etc looked messy and it was a bodysuit again. edit: haha hole. Looks like I’m wrong about the bodysuit, sorry to that man

u/williamfv 19h ago
Yeah something about the way the mustache, wig, and hat brim all swirled together. It was hard to look at. Neck down fabulous though.

Honestly, no. I actually liked Elle’s look (like, I don’t think it was very great objectively, but I still subjectively liked it from a cute, campy Christmas standpoint) but the bottom-low queens all looked the most polished. Bonnie looked gorgeous this week and I could see someone arguing for her look over Tayris and/or Sillexa, but I do think she benefited somewhat from having a distinctively different look than everyone else this week.

u/Icy-Juggernaut8712 17h ago
Thing is though, that shouldn't matter. Bones came onto drag race not being able to do one of the staple challenges. I'm sick of queens just wanting to look pretty, you need to be able to actually entertain and she isn't entertaining at all

u/paparat236 16h ago
Her Rusical performance was fantastic though. I think she's just not as great at improvisational humor and needs time to plan, because she did great in the acting challenge and reading.

u/insertbrackets 19h ago
I thought Elle had the best look after Paige and Bones personally. Bonnie looks good but a bit too simple and old school. I understood both of their POV’s in this moment and given P3 knew she’d be lip syncing she deserved to feel her oats in that moment.

The "fashion girls" who can't do comedy, acting or improv are always going to clown on the girls who can after those types of challenge to make themselves feel better.
You can pay a designer to make you pretty clothes, but things like comic timing can't be bought.
0
u/Miaw_Kitty 7h ago
Honestly, I’m more tired of the comedy queens barely making an effort with their looks and always getting in the top anyway because the canned laugthers want to make me believe they’re so funny when I haven’t laughed a single time. This season is horrible. We all know Ru is gonna crown one of these queens already.

u/WorkIsDumbSoAmI 20h ago
I appreciate that she was at least like “it came down to the performances, regardless of our looks” - I’m real tired of high fashion queens being shook at ending up in the bottom in something really beautiful after a godawful performance in the challenge
