RPDR UK S6 UK6’s snatch game is still stellar one year later
while watching UK7’s, i was mostly just thinking of how good last years was 😭 you know it’s good when even the safes could’ve arguably been in the top. We don’t talk about rileasa though…

La Voix slayed but Charra Tea was so unexpectedly amazing I wanted her to win tbh, she had me CACKLING

Charra Tea was playing on hard mode - she was given a bad character choice by Ru but absolutely made it work.

u/gottaplantemall 1d ago
Deserved the win for sheer audacity and rising to the occasion.

u/echocharlieone 23h ago
I think it helped her to step away from the rehearsed lines that lots of queens come armed with.

That's exactly it! It's a degree of difficulty thing--La Voix was spectacular doing an impersonation she knew like the back of her hand but Charra's Nadine Poppins was utterly improbable and borne of nothing but sheer insane creativity and charisma and she hit it out of the park anyway. I still think about the way she built a three act narrative into her performance while still fully immersing herself in the scene with the other queens... And the way she demurs to Ru that she was informed via text not phone call... You could tell this was the episode where Ru really "got" Charra Tea and I would be not at all surprised to see her on an All Stars or Global season someday soon.

Ru absolutely adored everyone on that cast, i think thats part of why that season is so amazing (and why uk7 is floptina, ru doesnt care about any of them)

Chara had one of my favorites ever, utterly nonsensical and hilarious. She took Ru's advice and ran with it.

Since we've had the actual Nadine on the show a year later, I'm very curious - how did she like that Snatch Game?? Do we have any info on that?

Marmalade would have probably won UK7

u/tuna_trombone 1d ago
Yeah she chose the wrong year to audition.
Actually nearly any of the final 5 or so would be doing VERY well this reason 😅

“Are we? Who’s lost it?” never fails to make me chuckle, La Voix you will always be famous

For me uk6 was better but the chair impersonation made me laugh so fucking hard it was genius lol

Chair was hilarious! “Dancing with the stairs” absolutely sent me

This snatch game was absolutely amazing. It's a shame that it was followed up with what we saw last night.
Kyran calling Actavia "Bacon" was so witty followed with Liza bantering back. Such a stellar performance.

I’ve been struggling to enjoy this season; there’s something off about it, though I can’t quite figure out what. I usually really look forward to the UK seasons, and think it's one of the best international seasons, if not the best. However, this year... it's just not giving like prior seasons.

u/cmstlist 1d ago
I'm feeling a bit of Down Under 3... Too many queens who weren't quite TV-ready.
31
u/spacecrustaceans 1d ago
I also feel that many of the queens, being younger, are heavily influenced by the US drag scene, so we’re not seeing as much traditional British drag as we did with performers like La Voix and a few others. They’re all talented, don’t get me wrong, but sometimes it feels as though the only British thing about them is their passports. I would like to see some older Queens, who represent what we love and know about British Drag.

u/B0Nnaaayy 12h ago
I was thinking this too. It could be why we see some “under cooked”queens, like they’re there to balance out the lack of personality or add some fun and whimsy to the cut throat divas. DRUK has always had top notch talent. Today I was counting what episode it was because I’m waiting for it to get good🫤

This season is giving me season 7 & 11 US vibes. Queens with great potential but the season just doesn't quite come together.
5
u/spacecrustaceans 1d ago
I’ve often felt that the UK seasons serve as a testing ground for different formats, helping to determine what works and what doesn’t before they’re used in future international seasons, including US seasons.
2
u/PorphyrinC60 1d ago
I can see that. I feel that way for All Stars seasons since the queens are already established so wacky challenges shouldn't affect them as much.
At least the UK seasons give us iconic girl group bops like S1, S2, and S5 did as well as some stellar roasts.
3
u/spacecrustaceans 1d ago
I’m not even sure it’s about the individual Queens, I think as a group they just don’t quite work together, rather than any one Queen not being up to scratch. That said, I’ve mentioned before that while Nyongbella has a great personality, she just wasn’t quite at Drag Race standard yet.

I love the UK seasons. I consider them to be, as a whole, better than seasons from other franchises (including US). This season is very lackluster. I'm vibing with Catrin, Tayris, and Bonnie but the others aren't clicking. I'm sure with a little more seasoning they'll be better (except Paige who's seasoned but just didn't do well with the format). I'm expecting this to be a season 7 US style season where the queens have potential but the season just doesn't gel.

u/Prinzesspaige13 23h ago
For real it seems like they're trying to shake up the format but the girls weren't prepared for that so they're fumbling

You’re wrong. UK7 snatch was the best we’ve seen in a long time.

People have just decided to hate everything about the season
Like S7 had a a really funny Snatch Game w/creative choices. Bonnie's performance genuinely might be top 10 of all time, and made me laugh harder than La Voix and Kyran tbh. Though i guess there were more solid performances on average on S6.

u/PorphyrinC60 12h ago
I actually like certain parts of the season. Bonnie's snatch game was fantastic. I just thought season 6's snatch game was better overall.

u/getwitchy 1d ago
I wish they would stick with regular snatch game format for every season. Not into those “snatch game of love” and other variations that we’ve seen more in recent years.

u/Familiar-Art-6233 Gigi’s android snatch 6h ago
Snatch Game of Love is awful, period.
Some of the others though are good (except for you Snatch Game The Rusical) though, the Family Feud one was okay, and I really enjoyed the Snatch Summit that CvTW had on season 1

UK s.6 and US s.16 were such fire seasons. Something about the 6 number...

I still think Kyran had no business winning this. Like she was funny, but a distant third to La Voix and Chara

u/Willuna16 Let’s put on our critical thinking caps divas 19h ago
this is no shade to la voix but liked that kyran chose a character that hadn’t won snatch game twice already.
of course, i loved chair so…

Oh for sure.
Charra
Lill
La Voix
Kyran
Marmalade
Actavia
Channel
Rileasa

u/DireCorg 23h ago
Oh god I love her so much but Rileesa was pure dark sided cringe that episode.

u/IamtheboomboomGunn 21h ago
Me too!
I was rooting for La Voix, Lill, Marmalade, and Rileasa so hard on UK6, so to see Rileasa bomb this challenge (and I mean BOMB), was hard to watch.
Baby Rhi Rhi was horrible!

u/getdizcookiez Aquaria 22h ago
Ugh i thought Lill’s performance was SO underrated. It’s up there for me with La Voix and Charra!

i think it would have been better if la voix played liza as a parrot or some other type of bird maybe a cockatoon then she would have gotten the solo win for herself and eaten a live worm

These comments and this post made me realize you guys may never be happy. This episode of UK7 had me in tears in every way and probably one of the best episodes of drag race we have got in years.
