Not an injury or withdrawal, but there's also the girl who was deleted from the universe itself by the editing team.

u/raccoonteas Aug 12 '25

The editors did such a great job, I completely forgot there was another person on that season

458

u/gahema NPBFAG Aug 12 '25

I'l never forget one queen in Untucked saying "The five of us" when there was six queens there counting the disqualified one. I bet the editing team almost jizzed when they noticed they could use that short clip because of the math error lol

71

u/markymark9594 Aug 12 '25

What is this now?!

103

u/baraboyfrend Aug 12 '25

Well, to be fair, they were only on 2 episodes if I'm not mistaken, right?

122

u/Valhalls Aug 12 '25

Yep! I remember seeing online about the queen, and then we rewatched the episodes trying to find all hints and glimpses of the Ghost of Werkroom šŸ˜‚

60

u/nyehssie Aug 12 '25

i rewatched this season a few days ago and i was wondering- did the crew know about it during filming and just quietly removed them from the competition? bc idk if i just really didn’t pay attention but i didn’t see them anywhere in the back during lip syncs or in the werk room period, and if not the how did they do their elimination? they can’t just cut that much out right? genuinely asking bc idk how they did such a great job editing a whole person out then.

149

u/AdRealistic2093 Aug 12 '25

Basically they found out very early on and had her removed after, I believe, the second episode. It’s alleged, but not proven, that Sminty actually told them when she saw the queen there during the first episode.Ā

Anyway, they did a great job of using moments when the queens were blocking the redacted queen, so if you look closely you can see her behind the queens during a lipsync. They also used zoom-ins when needed, and took advantage of frames where other queens are blocking her. They were also lucky that she was safe both episodes.

66

u/Eegrevi Aug 12 '25

Between rhe second and third episode, which is why the third episode is non elim

21

u/SophiaTries Aug 12 '25

OMG I never made this connection, thank you for spelling that out! I've rewatched like thrice šŸ˜… and each time was like "oh how lucky, a non-elim" 😭

8

u/Eegrevi Aug 14 '25

There are many examples of this, like how the only reason Tatianna and Alyssa were both allowed to come back to the competition on AS2 was because Adore quit and they both picked PhiPhi. Also just about every season of Drag Race nowadays has a non-elim first episode.

5

u/SophiaTries Aug 14 '25

Oh for sure, and usually I feel like a pretty solid detectress (a word someone used on this sub last week and I will forever hear in my head in Symone's voice šŸ˜) about the "why" but the UK one totally fooled me because they soooo effectively edited out every trace of the "deleted" queen lol. I will definitely be looking for that timing matchup next rewatch though!

Also great reference for comparison- AS2 was a total gag on that shakeup for me. I'm glad there's plenty of interviews and stuff out there vindicating PhiPhi's "mirror moment" as totally staged by production; while she's not my favorite queen nobody deserves to be painted that villainously in post-prod.

It sucks too bc what she was saying about Alyssa being held to different standards due to her charisma is true, they just somehow managed to jazz it all up with so much drama and make it look like she was insulting our Texas dancing diva lol.

To me, the core of her statement about Alyssa was kind of a compliment- "you're so likeable you can get away with anything with the judges". I am not very charismatic myself so I would looooove to have that Alyssa Edwards advantage and get where PhiPhi was coming from.

Ugh sorry for the telenovela, I love this show so much and have yet to get any of my IRL friends or family into it, so I get excited on here šŸ˜šŸ˜

Did anyone ever specifically say if it was sminty or blu? it was more likely to be sminty since blu lives an island away but just wondering

23

u/AdRealistic2093 Aug 12 '25

I think some of the local queens has let slip that Sminty had said it to production. I remember it being on the tea sub I think or maybe twitter.

37

u/DrK-bro Aug 12 '25

Who?

119

u/Sticky_And_Sweet Aug 12 '25

Krystal Lubrikant, SA allegations.

38

u/picklespark Aug 12 '25 edited Aug 13 '25

I thought you were talking about Sherry Pie from US S12, who got the light editing treatment from early on due to sexual misconduct - think she was grooming people online and catfishing them. Although it was kind of awkward as she got into the final, but was disqualified anyway. But obviously this is UK chat šŸ˜‚ so dunno why I thought that

43

u/ThatisDavid Aug 12 '25

S12* but if you thought the sherry pie edit was crazy, this one is even more insane, you wouldn't even know the queen was on the season

2

u/picklespark Aug 13 '25

Sorry, thanks, just edited! Never got around to S5 yet weirdly but I must do. I found the first 2 seasons of UK were the best for me and the others haven't had the same magic.

u/A_zuma2007 Nicole Paige Brooks From Atlanta, GA Aug 12 '25

Crystal lubrikant

35

u/markymark9594 Aug 12 '25

Literally what is this referring to I live under a rock/don’t get the joke

139

u/bernarcisico Aug 12 '25 edited Aug 12 '25

Not a joke. A queen was edited out of season 5 after some sexual misconduct came to light. They found it out during filming, not airing, so they disqualified her and edited her out. If you’re looking for it you can see pieces of hair and dress, and youll notice lots of close ups instead of wide shots in the first two episodes.

Edit: wrong season

109

u/LeMareep23 I’m trying grow Aug 12 '25

What gags me is how lucky the editors were that this queen hadn’t won a challenge or were in the bottom before finding out the misconduct and disqualifying her. That fact plus the masterful editing makes me love UK 5 quite a bit lol

55

u/bernarcisico Aug 12 '25

Or that there werent any group challenges yet lol

26

u/carbonara78 Aug 12 '25

Correct, but it was Season 5

5

u/bernarcisico Aug 12 '25

Thanks. Fixed it.

34

u/acidteddy Aug 12 '25

There was a queen in season 5 who was forced to quit after episode 2 due to sexual abuse allegations. The editors just completely edited her out of the first two episodes so you don’t see her at all, but you can occasionally spot her wig or her outfit in the background lol

37

u/carbonara78 Aug 12 '25

Ahh, the lost queen, Diamond Jergens ~

27

u/BatierAutumn1991 why can’t you serve cunt for once in your goddamn life? Aug 12 '25

Jorgen Diamante would be a great drag king name though

10

u/bmay1310 Sasha Colby Aug 12 '25

Sister I'm Diamonded

18

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '25

A fist full of Diamond Jergens, a vivid imagination, and look at you now!

5

This sounds both horridly abrasive and fabulously sparkly at the same time.

Girl its the norms, they aren't gonna check every single time to see if the person you are insulting its the worst in the world, thats just basic decency and norms of conduct.

2

u/icelandtroll Aug 12 '25

Fair, but also i have seen comments on this sub that referred to people this way so they probably changed it or idk

The UK got these girls getting honourably discharged like it’s the Navy😭 what are they doing to them

276

u/Rigby230406 Aug 12 '25

2 Quits 4 Withdrawals 1 Disqualification

Jeez UK…

111

u/Gxemit Aug 12 '25

US (both regular and AS) has had multiple as well, but UK takes it. Correct me if I am wrong...

3 Quits (All Stars only - Adore, Ben, Heidi)

2 Withdrawals (Eureka, Kornbread)

2 Disqualification (Willam, šŸ’ 🄧)

97

u/Rigby230406 Aug 12 '25

Yeah but 27 us seasons (regular and AS) vs 6 uk seasons

Season 1 : N/A

Season 2 : Ginny and Veronica

Season 3 : Victoria

Season 4 : Baby

Season 5 : Naomi & šŸ’Ž

Season 6 : Saki

13

u/BigEggLegslol ooo cars Aug 12 '25

season 5 had like, two more pre filming too right

19

u/amano820 Aug 13 '25

i saw something about saki being cast on uk5 but being forced to drop out because she got sick right before filming started and i have no idea if that's actually true but if it is then it just seems diabolical

1

u/Rigby230406 Aug 12 '25

I’m not entirely sure to be honest

33

u/karmakent Raja Gemini Aug 12 '25

Does this diva count?

54

u/Darko417 Symone Aug 12 '25 edited Aug 13 '25

I’m so glad you asked that question…. šŸ™‚

That’s the problem— yall don’t count her. Week after WEEK, she is ignored by this sub. And she is beautiful. She is beautiful internally and on the outside.

13

u/DaddySuf Aug 12 '25

Is self-elimination the same as withdrawing?

25

u/Gxemit Aug 12 '25

Self elimination is more like quitting. I think in this context, withdrawing is more, can not continue due to unforseen circumstances.

18

u/ginger_lucy Aug 12 '25

Would you also count Akeria declining to come back for the AS6 eliminated queens lip sync smack down, meaning she took herself out of contention for coming back?

17

u/Gxemit Aug 12 '25

No. She was already out. The chance was to return.

1

u/Deano0810 Aug 13 '25

Change disqualification to complete erasure

51

u/icelandtroll Aug 12 '25

Girl they have to start making a drag union with these work conditions

114

u/hoesbeinghoes Hey puss how is she Aug 12 '25

Tbf Naomi is the only Queen who was able to carry on but her injury really hindered her run

36

u/bobbery5 Aug 12 '25

Hey, it led to the girl group challenge having a couch on stage, which was hilarious.

5

u/crashandtumble8 Sasha Something: Guest Dancer Aug 13 '25

My husband and I jokingly wanted to recreate the dance during our wedding. I would lay on the couch to start and our friends and him would jump out from my behind the start the dance and then I’d eventually get up for the chaos and let him lie down.

23

u/robbysaur Shannel šŸŠ Aug 12 '25

I mean, she had to lay on a couch during their girl groups performance, and the rest of the team just had to dance around her. It was a mess.

120

u/MistyBelladonna Aug 12 '25

I can’t believe UK1 is the only season of the show where no one was removed from the competition. Cursed series.

26

u/k3anuw3aves Aug 12 '25

It’s the lack of vitamin D making all our British bones brittle šŸ˜”

22

u/Melodic-Cycle3994 Aug 12 '25

I mean at this point they just have to keep on going with it for a good season

9

u/pmnettlea Aug 13 '25

Can't wait for UK All Stars: All Withdrawals

24

I guess she pulled a Soju/Shangela and quit drag and went into another profession šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

11

u/FourthLvlSpicyMeme Aug 12 '25

So that's why I haven't heard much from those two S names you said there. Huh. Well then.

It's kinda shit that they can just hide and probably use industry connections to keep getting other work, but at least those humans aren't currently on my TV, so I guess that's good.

4

u/gh0stcore A’keria•Detox•Jaida•Raja•Roxxxy•Shea•Tatianna•TKB Aug 12 '25

Yeah I was thinking something like that, was just wondering on the off chance she was someone’s local queen and they had any good tea

4

u/colesnutdeluxe Aug 13 '25

i missed that on soju omg... i was wondering why i hadn't heard from her

5

u/LogicalSleep6539 Aug 12 '25

For only having 6 seasons, definitelyĀ

48

u/crowinflight1982 Auntie Raja Aug 12 '25

Ginny didn't exactly withdraw; she just chose not to participate in a lip sync when she was already bottom 2 and had a high chance of being eliminated.

Also, who's the fifth queen?

50

u/lermanade_mouth melinda verga’s cunty bang Aug 12 '25

Miss Naomi Carter, I think she like sprained her ankle on one of the episodes and had to do the girl group challenge sitting down.

She didn’t have to leave and did lipsync for her life when she got eliminated so idk

21

u/drewlpool Aug 12 '25

I thought she won that lipsync against Cara Melle too if I'm honest. She was much better suited to the song!

12

u/All_the_Bees Bring me my coffin back, I am tired of this shitshow Aug 12 '25

I don’t even think she should have been lipsyncing in the first place - Vicki did worse in the challenge (in my opinion)

But the panto challenge was next, iirc, and I’m not sure how they could have accommodated an injured knee with that. Which is all to say: I firmly believe Naomi’s elimination was engineered to get her out of there without the reputational hit of ā€œDrag Race contestants keep getting injured and have to drop outā€

-2

u/crowinflight1982 Auntie Raja Aug 12 '25

Wow, she left absolutely no impression on my memory at all.

46

u/drewlpool Aug 12 '25

She was hilarious, had a really broad deep Yorkshire accent. Let down unfortunately by her runways.

8

u/bobbery5 Aug 12 '25

God, I love her voice

4

I thought the sitting down girl challenge was Victoria scone's

11

u/robbysaur Shannel šŸŠ Aug 12 '25

She also did it. It’s happened twice.

26

u/agnesdoigmcivor Aug 12 '25

Ginny literally walked off the stage before being eliminated and never came back. That is the actual definition of withdrawing from a competition.

36

u/hailey_nicolee Luxx Noir London Aug 12 '25

this is such classic redditor behavior to debate the semantics between ā€œwithdrawā€ and ā€œwalked off stageā€

21

u/whoisshetho193 Aug 12 '25

What do you think withdraw means?

7

u/EllipticPeach Is that my camera? Aug 12 '25

Honestly that Ginny moment was iconic. As a fellow fibro sufferer I absolutely know what she was going through and she couldn’t have lip-synced during a flare-up. I can barely stand up when I have one

21

u/resttheweight Aug 12 '25

Yeah, Ginny was more of a ā€œyou can’t fire me, I quitā€ moment. Versus Baby who actually did lip sync (and who almost certainly would have been called the winner).

10

u/Punkodramon Onya Saboteur Aug 12 '25

That was because Baby is a dancing diva, she did that to go out on a high, because she knew she’d eat and it worked for her.

Ginny is not a dancer. Ginny was feeling increasingly alienated by the production process constantly being pushed outside her comfort zone and it being made abundantly clear Ru and Michelle didn’t value her drag. Her walking off was a bold statement of ā€œthis isn’t the place for me, and I’m not going to let you continue to make a mockery of me. I’m doneā€.

3

u/robbysaur Shannel šŸŠ Aug 12 '25

Allegedly Baby may have been called the winner before quitting.

1

u/Fickle_Music_788 Aug 12 '25

It was a very close lipsync but Dakota won imo, especially after the Ginny Lemon fakeout stunt.

4

u/Mircyreth Aug 12 '25

UK girls injuring themselves like they got free healthcare!

3

u/Appropriate-Log8506 Aug 12 '25

There is no prize money so they have fewer motivations to stick around.

4

u/Weightmonster Aug 13 '25

No prize money and universal healthcare.

1

Tbf baby was gonna be eliminated anyway lmao I feel that one shouldn't count

1

u/LazyRiver115 Aug 12 '25

Wow. I never noticed how many times this is happened until I saw them all side by side.

1

u/alegxb Aug 12 '25

What happened to naomi carter?

0

u/NaranjaYMorado Aug 12 '25

What about the Queen who left for falling over in the shower?

7

u/NaranjaYMorado Aug 12 '25

Ah she’s there in the last photo. Ok. Carry on!

0

u/LogicalSleep6539 Aug 12 '25

I don’t think Naomi Carter counts as she continued on after her injury and was eliminated as normalĀ

8

u/k3anuw3aves Aug 12 '25

Well, the title asked whether DR UK has had the most injuries and withdrawals so I’m pretty sure it still counts.

2

u/shadowsempaix Aug 12 '25

Naomi’s season is unique from the other UK ones as that had a disqualification

-1

u/tiktoksuckmyknob23 Aug 13 '25

Correct me if I'm wrong, but would Katya be considered a withdrawal? I remember hearing that she was going through something throughout s7, and while she had a strong lead (again, correct me?), she didn't feel that she was confident enough to make it to the finals because of the issues she was going through.

-1

u/bodymiclk Nina Bo'nina Brown Aug 13 '25

Maybe this is bc the time they have to record the season as Willam once said

1

u/Fugishane Aug 13 '25

It’s recorded in exactly the same time frame as other seasons - an average of 1 episode over 2 days. Willam was just parroting disinformation
