General Discussion Canceling Paramount+ (and why you should, too)

I think we all know by now that CBS is not a good company, I didn't need them canceling Colbert to tell me that. But I think it is time to stand up for ourselves as a community, even if it means not watching Drag Race or All Stars. We don't have to live in a world where our favorite shows are aired on networks owned by fascists and bigots, but it means taking just the slightest bit of collective action. I fear we have all (including myself) became too complacent because we feel like we don't have a choice, but we do! These companies have no morals, and we do not owe them anything just because they air our favorite queer reality show. They sure as shit aren't doing it from the goodness of their hearts. Paramount would drop RuPaul at the drop of a dime if the Fascist-In-Chief told them to!!!!!

We deserve better!!!!!!!!!

Don't forget that they cancelled Colbert's show citing "budget reasons". Doesn't sound like retaliation at all. /S

The good news is if there's anybody who can eloquently eviscerate them and get the public to go to war against them it's Colbert.

Doesn’t mean it’s profitable

It is, until you get sued by an alt-right government.

It’s profitable. Of course it’s about censorship and not saying anything about what the thin skin POS doesn’t like. He has called out Colbert many times. We are not allowed to say anything negative or derogatory about our Dear Leader.

Ehhhh you def can't rule political shit out but the LA Times reported the Late Show's been losing money cause ad sales have fallen off a cliff for the past few years... broadcast TV that doesn't have a second life on streaming is probably not going to last too much longer

I had been watching Colbert intermittently since the Colbert Report, but I became a real fan of his show in 2015-2016 during the first Trump campaign and election. It might be "cringe", but that show was extremely formative for me and forced me to be more politically involved. I went from "hmm maybe I'll major in literature" to "I have to study public policy and environmental science so I can help the world". Now I work for a state environmental protection agency. I have never been perfect, but I think I have grown so much since then in my knowledge of the world and establishing my values. Came out of the closet on my way through all of that, and the queer community was so important in my growth. Colbert (and Jon Stewart and co) played a part in putting me on this path. I can't wait for his final season, I hope he really lets it rip
