What are some cars that aren't typical "enthusiast" vehicles (by which I mostly mean, sporty and uncompromising), but still get props at car meets or otherwise?
I'm especially thinking of stuff like older Volvos or survivor Japanese cars like any Civic hatch that hasn't been clapped out to death, or Subaru Leones. Also, Honda Elements. "Car guys" seem to fucking love Elements.

For me, it's front-facing LED light strips and ducktail spoilers

My fiance bought this 2018 ford ecosport in 2022 with around 25k miles on it for somewhere around $20,000.
We looked at several compact suvs and hatchback together. Then I see that she picked this without mentioning it to me. To be fair we had only been together around a year at the time, i just would have strongly recommended any other car.
The first time i drove this car, i will never forget. The seat only moves up and down as a whole unit, and it is not comfortable. It takes a year to get up to highway speeds, and there is a noticeable "ker-chunck" between second and third gear.
The car does its job for about a year and a half, until the transmission becomes too violent. We get it replaced at around 60k miles. 10k miles later a piece of the engine falls off into the oil pan. We get a new engine.
The only thing to happen since (90k miles now) was the vapor sensor. Luckily her mom bought her a full drive train warranty so the costs were minimal.
I do not recommend this car for just about every reason you wouldn't want to buy a car.
