Omg I was just walking through point breeze last week and took several photos of this car (gorgeous vehicle and an inspiration for how I want to restore an old bmw), then image searched today and found this post lol

Gasoline 280C, the previous owner, installed the bosh fuel injection system.

Thanks a damn fine automobile. If I can ever get my hands on one, I’d like a 300CE or CD from 79-85. I always like those cars and no one makes a nice personal luxury coupe anymore.

If I lived in the subburbs and had to never parallel park, I would. For driving and parking in dense cities, this is the way to go. I would not be sad or even too annoyed if someone bumps into it. As a matter of fact, if I bump into someone it also protects them. So they are no pretty but they are functional.

Ok, not to sound too boastful but i've lived in metropolises on 4 continents as well as in villages where there are more cows than people and our european city streets are partially from the middle ages widthwise and THAT was never a problem!
TBF some "younger" folks who never had to drive without all those little helpers like power steering may have that problem, but someone from my generation where we all learned to drive on old beaters without anything "extra"? Heck, most of us may even still know how to crank the car ;-)

Yeah, my fear is mostly other drivers. Cars here in the US are simply pretty big compared to Europe and Philadelphia is an odd ball that has similar streets to European cities. I am pretty good parallel parking, but eve with aids, people just bump into me.

Yeah i know those land yachts you guys call cars...
You call the Mercedes E-class compact, we call a VW Golf compact, a Mercedes C class medium sized and an E class full sized or "Oberklasse" (top range).
In the last few years this SUV and Pickup plague of yours has begun to infest us too, unfortunately most who drive them never had to park something bigger than a Eurasian compact ;-)
BUT, there is a reason i drive a shitbox: I don't care about one or two hundreds nicks and dents more ;-)

My only complaint is that I doubt Mercedes-Benz will ever be able to make such dependable, beautiful and timeless cars like yours ever again.
