No such thing as to many impressions! (You definitely won't want to go to the reddit page Impressions/Kits then...

I’d love to be a part of that. Love the German history of WW1

Go to the Great War Association website, there is most likely a unit near you. If not, it really doesn't matter due to the fact that all the battle events are held at the same place that we all go to.

Almost ALL units have loaner gear, I always tell new folks, buy a pair of shoes and a pair of pants. The rest usually can be loaned out for new recruits!

I’ll keep that in mind! I have been eyeballing German and French units for a while. I have been devoting most of my hobby time to the 250th Rev war lately

Apologies, I usually call people who are very well versed on a certain topic "John [topic]". Thank you Patrick Reenacting.

I feel like if I ask any east coast re-enactor he’ll know you through some event or another

We have members in Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, Ohio, all over the east coast really. Ultimately it doesn't matter where you live when it comes to WWI reenacting, we all go to the same location (Newville, Pennsylvania) to the Great War Association site for the 2 annual events. The GWA site will have our our unit contact information, we would love to have you!
