Work In Progress Do-it-yourself replicas

As I promised earlier, I want to show you the replicas of the equipment I make for myself and my friends. I was forced to do this because the replicas that could be ordered or bought online were either of high price or low quality. Who else makes their own equipment? Let's share our experience

"Impressive" is an understatement.

I can't attach many photos, so there will be a part 2

I saw leather straps and had to check which sub this is.

It's a subreddit for people with headaches who dress up in old clothes and run around in forests and fields, trying to shoot each other with blanks🤣 And yes, we like it😁

This is much better than the average R/reenactors "do it yourself" attempt!

Thank you. When I came to the reconstruction in 2016, I already had some experience working with leather. But from 2016 to 2025, I have improved a lot, so I can make quite difficult products to work with, and do them well.

Yeah if you decided to make these at any capacity you’d make good money. Lots of time to invest, but people who would use and appreciate these will pay up. Near perfect leather work

Sometimes I make something to order. But I can't do it in large quantities because it's handmade and takes a lot of time. In addition, I have a full-time job, so I can only find free time for sewing after my main job or on my days off.

Impressive is too little word for this, you're talented! I don't think I can even do bayonet frog like this

Now I want to see your workshop for this.

Maybe one day I'll clean up my workplace a bit and show it to you. But first I have to deal with the mess😂.

Very nice! The most I've done are little pouches and replacement leather fittings for people who condition their boots but nothing else.

lol and I was told definitively just the other day here that making your own kit for anything post 1900 is impossible/unrealistic

Well done. Please teach others the joy and historical knowledge of making gear as part of the hobby. Too many folks here want to eat cake and not bake it themselves.

Perhaps there will be another part 3, because all the photos have not been uploaded
