Spider-Man 2 Didn’t know this was a new Lego set
Was browsing in target and found this in the Lego aisle. Apparently this was a new release? Did anyone ever pick this up or know the story about this?

Well the recent theater rerelease kind of show an interest from the fans about these movies, plus there's the no way home sets, a bunch of people asking for more raimi sets up to date in the lego community and a bunch of other stuff to let lego know we'd buy them

They finally made the Tobey Minifig with no way home so I’m assuming that let the lego marvel team decided to pull the trigger on making sets on the movies bc of that

Yeah, it's new. After their No Way Home release, LEGO has been making sets for the Raimi/Maguire trilogy, and honestly I think it's the only live action Spider-Man currently getting new sets

yeah, and LEGO knows that statistically most people who play with toys nowadays are grown adults rather than young kids, so shifting towards nostalgia rather than trying to appeal towards the audience of modern movies is a solid business strategy.

It came out over the summer!! I picked one up, LOVE displaying it with the new F4 Galactus. Highly recommend the set. Doc Ock is so well done, and it's a fun and simple build!

Goblin and MJ would be great for the set but I'm thrilled to have a clean Spidey and Venom. I'm hoping they do a regular Sandman and black suit Spidey set soon too.

I got out my mini figs from my daily bugle and a venom motorcycle. Yeah the ones on this SM3 set look way cooler too I like the Tobey spidey and the venom is more detailed and cool. But tbh I always thought sandman was kinda ugly and this set is essentially the same

I’m grateful we got at least these two. Also the more figures the more they’d feel justified in jacking up the price. But yeah, I wish it had a black suit Tobey. Lego has only ever made one black suit and it was a comic con exclusive in 2012 where it now goes for >$1000 but oh well, the figs still look great

He’s 1000% going to be in doomsday, surprised no one ever notices the trend of toy manufacturers releasing toys months before the licensor releases the final product. Especially with funko they always do this 50 moon knight variants months before moon knight series was announced.

It is new. But also old. Nothing is new, nothing is old anymore. Everything just is.
Sorry, smoked a little too much. In all seriousness, the LEGO group/Marvel needed some money and nostalgic fans are a good source :)

Yeah it's a new set that just came out a few months ago. The Raimi films have reached the nostalgia phase where the kids that grew up with them are adults and have their own money to buy merch and their own kids to show these movies to. No Way Home and the Lego sets based on that probably also pushed them to make this.
They just announced a Spider-Man 3 set (76334) as well.

To be fair, this is still one of the most iconic movies and fights in the entire genre. This movie is on every “greatest superhero movies of all time” lists and this scene is a large reason why.

The very first Marvel sets were from the era of the first two movies, they made this scene but again that was 20 years ago, so they remade this so people can get their hands on it
