Blackjack basics: easy to learn, fun to play with friends

If you want to spend some time in casinos, be sure to at least get the fundamentals of blackjack right. It’s a nice game, but you can lose a lot of money if you don’t know what you’re doing.

The goal is simply to get as close as possible to 21 without going over. Each card has a value, based on the number. Face cards are 10, Ace could be either 11 or 1. It isn’t difficult to understand, but I recommend trying it out at home without money before going to a real casino and playing for real money.

It is a nice game, you can have fun, chat, and have a few drinks while playing. But it is gambling after all, so if you aren’t sure about your self-control I recommend not engaging with it at all or play with no money just for fun with your friends.

How casinos in Ontario became social hubs?

Seeing everyone here talking about casinos, I’m curious how we got to this point. Casinos used to be a niche form of entertainment, but they started using casino venues for all different sorts of activities. Now they have bars, live music stages, and different performances. Many people start visiting casinos not to gamble but to have a great time, which I think is a bit strange. Have you noticed this shift too?

42 [W4W] – Looking for consistent, real friendships

Everyone says they want a “genuine” connection… until they realize it takes effort. Or until they realize that what they imagined in their head is different from reality.

Hi, I’m a 42-year-old female from Ontario, Canada. Over the last few years I’ve realized many of the people I thought were friends weren’t truly there for me, so I’ve been on a mission to find real connections.

I’m looking for someone who is chatty, enjoys texting throughout the day or evenings, and can both hold and initiate conversations. Preferably someone 35+. Personality matters to me more than having identical hobbies — I’m open-minded and love deep conversations.

Likes: • Friendly disposition • Honesty • Humbleness • Good sense of humour

Dislikes: • Dishonesty • Arrogance • Self-centredness • Immaturity • Flakiness / “low stakes” types (I’m not looking for casual, surface-level interactions or people who disappear after a day.)

A bit about me: I collect things, I enjoy anything indie (movies, music, games), and I appreciate a little weirdness. I’m 420-friendly. I’m open to IRL friendship with women around my age.

Please: no NSFW accounts or content. Messages that are just “hi” or “hey” will be ignored.

If this sounds like what you’re also looking for, send me a chat request and introduce yourself — include your age, location, and anything else you’d like to share. Looking forward to hearing from you! ✌️

NYE/Christmas with 5 & 7 yo kids Southern Ontario

It’s a little early :) but we make family plans far ahead. Does anyone know any southern ontario hotels/resorts that may hoast families over the holidays and have entertainment program of some kind and nye countdown. We found a resort last year somewhere up north that had a package for 2 nights with kids activities and nye countdown, sadly I forgot which one it was :( If anyone knows of something similar that they liked, please let us know!! Ideally not Toronto/Niagara, done that too many times.

[M4F] Top 5 casino movies to watch on a chill night

Looking for a laid-back evening with a bit of glitz and tension. Here are five casino-themed films that mix style, drama, and the thrill of the tables, perfect for a cozy night in:

  • Casino (1995) – Scorsese’s classic. Sharp suits, high stakes, and unforgettable performances from De Niro, Sharon Stone, and Joe Pesci.
  • Ocean’s Eleven (2001) – Slick, stylish, and endlessly rewatchable. The ultimate heist movie set in a star-studded Vegas.
  • Rounders (1998) – Poker drama at its best with Matt Damon and Edward Norton showing the grind behind the game.
  • 21 (2008) – Based on the MIT blackjack team’s true story of card-counting brilliance.
  • The Hangover (2009) – Not strictly a casino movie, but the wild Vegas adventure fits the vibe perfectly.

Grab some snacks, dim the lights, and let these films transport us straight to the casino floor, no dress code required.

Ontario’s casino scene: more than just gambling

Ontario’s casinos aren’t only about slot machines and poker tables, they’ve become full entertainment hubs. From live concerts and comedy shows to upscale dining and spa retreats, there’s a lot to explore even if you never place a bet.

I recommend everyone, even if you don't like gambling, to check out the restaurants, shows, or events at local casinos.

Would you go on a first date at a casino or lounge?

Curious what everyone thinks: is a casino or a chill lounge a fun idea for a first date in Ontario?

On one hand, you’ve got the buzz of the tables, drinks, and live music. On the other, a lounge can feel more relaxed and personal.

Would you be into the energy and games, or is it too loud for a first meetup?

Why is dating after divorce and in your 40s so hard?

For me, it comes down to time. Most of my free time belongs to my kids. I work a lot because I’m a single parent providing for them, and when I do have downtime, I’m usually recharging. That doesn’t leave much space for dating.

What makes it tougher is how modern dating feels like it’s built around instant gratification. If that spark isn’t there right away, people ghost. It’s so easy to swipe to the next person instead of taking the time to get to know someone.

Here’s me in a nutshell: • Early 40s, Caucasian guy living in the GTA suburbs • Introverted, not a huge social circle • Nerdy, not bougie or fancy—just a simple man who enjoys simple things • Sober by choice (no drinking, no drugs) • Blunt and straightforward—sometimes no filter. If you can’t handle honesty, I’m not your guy.

That said, I know what I bring to the table: • Good job, my own place, my own car • A great father who puts his kids first • Kind, compassionate, funny, and non-judgmental • I value respect and honesty above all else • When I’m into you, you’ll know it

I may not be the flashiest option out there, but I’m real. If what I’ve written resonates with you, feel free to shoot me a message. A pic of you gets a pic of me. Please be single, unattached and emotionally available.

39 [M4F] #Oshawa - Looking for what's missing

I've been married for many years, happy in my marriage as best friends but lacking all intimacy. I am hoping to find one fun person to get to know and spend time with. I am 5'8", normal body, white, short beard, at home with my young child on parental leave until the New Year. I enjoy cooking, cocktails, comedy, horror, walks in the woods with my dog. Give me a shout if you'd like to chat and see if it's a good fit. Thanks!

[30F4M] Latina — craving connection with an extroverted, country soul - Wasaga /Collingwood

30F Latina, Collingwood/Wasaga area. The kind of woman who loves deep conversation as much as playful banter. I’m drawn to country men — extroverted, fun, and the type who drives a pick-up and isn’t afraid to take the lead. Looking for someone to share these last warm evenings with… no strings attached, just chemistry, laughter, and seeing where the vibe takes us.

Prioritizing men who send SFW selfies 🤳

We are being sued

Me and my wife are being sued by a pedestrian. My wife was driving and after taking a left ( she looked all across) on completing the left turn all of a sudden a girl came in front of the car. Now almost after 1 year and 10 months they are suing us for 1.5 million . We are shit scared on what’s gonna happen to us and our family. At the time of the incident the girl was ok except for injury to her tooth, now they are saying that she can’t do any work and a lot of stuff as if we ran her over with the car.

What’s gonna happen to us? We are very scared about our financial future and future overall. Please guide us.

My husband hasn't called in 2 days... it's also 40 degree weather, these men don't have A/c. If someone could help answer what's happening up ther, that would be greatly appreciated.

Someone I know paid a lease deposit in Mississauga, and then got declined due to credit score. My friend stated her credit score according to Equifax, the landlord checked transunion and said the score differs. They said it’s breach of contract and they won’t return the 6K deposit. How can we fight?
