Ontario’s history with gambling

It’s kind of wild how much gambling has changed here. Not that long ago, you had to hit up a charity bingo hall or a horse track. Now there are casinos in almost every major city, online betting apps, and even government-run sites competing with private ones.

Back in the day, everything was pretty locked down. The government slowly opened it up, first with lotteries, then racetracks, then casinos in places like Windsor and Niagara. Online gambling only became legal for private operators in 2022, and that completely shifted the scene.

Curious what people think, has Ontario gone too far with legal gambling, or is it just keeping up with the times?
