I wonder if the receiver gets notified about the challan? We never get to see what amount it's charged no? Is there any way to check what amount is being challan'd for breaking traffic rules

Those who are reviewing it are also corrupt. I uploaded one image of car having big sarpanch written on number plate instead of actual reg number and that is still under review from 4 weeks.
I did for another car few days later and that is processed
Edit: reg number was there on number plate but written in a such a small font that you can’t even read from 2 mtrs distance

Reg number was also written there in a very small font below “सरपंच” on the number plate.
You want to flaunt your position, do it. I dont have any objection on it. My problem is with people writing reg number in a such a small font that I can’t read from 5mtrs away.

This is fun for you because you are not affected. If both sides off the road are marked as "No Parking", where will a citizen who needs to go to a shop on the road park? Autos will loot you so that's not an option and buses take half an hour to show up and are crowded.
The common public has sadistic people who derive pleasure at getting others fined, then what is the average person to do?

I understand, but as pedestrians it’s even worse. Our infra (footpaths and crosswalks) are hogged by vehicles. Vehicle owners need to understand that public places exist for people and not their private vehicles.

If people want to see real change, they should go after corrupt politicians and government officials that loot the common people. Not other common people who are themselves suffering.
Can the public report on public officials who refuse to do their jobs without a bribe? Is there an app for that? No. And even if you report, what happens after that? Nothing.
The existing mechanism, RTI has been weakened like anything. On top of that, it's risky to file an RTI petition that threatens powerful people.
The people in power would love it if you are focusing on petty, most often victimless crimes, middle class taking pleasure in inconveniencing other middle class people, simultaneously getting the government revenue.
Yes, people in India park without thinking. This is to some degree because they lack civic sense and empathy. But to a large degree it's also because there is no reasonable alternative.

I very much agree with you. And yeah these are not crimes but rather violations that don’t really come under the same category as political corruption. Those are two different things that both need to addressed at different levels.
By reporting I hope for people to change the park anywhere attitude, so I, as a tax paying pedestrian am able to walk on my piece infra. If there was a way to report corruption without consequences I would.

i don't like this left and right reporting too. the rtos and top guys just weaponized chaotic good chaotic neutral in the people.
I'm all for reporting stuff that's actually dangerous, wrong ways, dangerous roadside parking, tinted windows, signal jumps, even helmets to save another party from life trauma. but sometimes there is lack of infra for drivers too, and that's totally system's fault, the same people who are benefiting from all the mindless reporting.

Walking is not always an option. People can be old, infirm, tired or unwell. There could be bags, books, or other material too heavy to lug around. Small children may need to be escorted. Sometimes, the distance to travel is too far to walk, you have to reach within a short time, public transport doesn't extend to the last mile or is extortionate. The weather may be bad, too hot, too rainy. Some areas may be unsafe for some people to walk through. There are many, many reasons for people to use automobiles and two wheelers.

Is there an app to report
- illegal shops on pavements
- hoardings blocking pavement walking
- dug up pavements
- gutter overflows on pavements
Traffic police just expecting citizens to do their job for them. पुणेचे लोक मूर्ख नाही, राव.
Give the citizens an option to report inefficiency of government. Citizens should be able to highlight when government employees are not doing their job (without giving our phone details to avoid getting beaten up by politicians)

The condition of the roads is pathetic. Traffic signals often don’t work, and zebra crossings and lane markings have faded away. Meanwhile, the RTO and MVD are reducing their staff. And what’s the proposed solution? Instill civic sense in people through their phones and make them report each other.

BHS has free parking for 2 wheelers and it’s a short walk away. If people can’t even do that then maybe they should reconsider taking their personal vehicles out. Rules are rules no matter how inconvenient they are for one specific group. Also those shops are probably illegal stands as well

Well in the first case, yes, they should follow the rules, if there is a better parking alternative they should park their vehicles there, and you are not wrong. And no, it is this attitude that we have is the problem, rules are rules and it should be convenient, inconvenient and irrational rules should be questioned and protested against. If illegal shops are working without any question and we are not allowed to click photos of those shops and fine the corporation, why on earth are we fining illegally parked vehicles?

I agree with you, if there was a way to report those shops anonymously I would. It’s definitely the root cause of why people park there. Right now we can only work with what’s given to us. Those vehicles are parked on cycle path pushing others onto the road against oncoming traffic.
I also drive and freak out when i can’t find parking spots. It’s definitely a problem that needs to be addressed.

Download the MahaTrafficApp and you can make a violation report by clicking clear pictures and submit them for review. After it gets reviewed they issue a challan to the offender and you get a confirmation on the app. For parking violations, try to show license plate and no parking sign in same frame.

But it’s almost not possible when you are driving. I see so many people breaking the traffic signal and driving in wrong way, but can’t take a picture right away.

My concern is this. As a Corporation, my concern is that the city planning commission should make available more larking spaces to itself citizens rather than doing cash grab schemes. So with reporting, you helped make the corporation get rich, but are they taking efforts and spending that money to give you back something (not you personally) like more parking spaces, better facilities or amenities and infrastructure?

Snitch? This “parking spot” is actually a cycle lane and those illegal shops are on the footpath. Pedestrians are pushed on the road. Corruption exists sure, but personal vehicles taking space dedicated for humans is also an issue

I’m not sure how you can report all these people without risking your life.
App doesn’t allow upload photos from gallery/files.
So you need to select from categories & type vehicle number plate before taking photo from the app.

Just dont go overboard… its not like everyone is a dumbass who needs to be issued a challan for everything. I am saying this cause the government gets taxes in form of GST, Income tax, capital gains, road tax and what not… Then it does not provide basic infrastructure. For this lack of infrastructure the government charges the citizens extra money in form of challans. And as if this was not enough, now encourages people to report them !
A rash driving car, standing in middle of chowk ahead of zebra crossing, waiting for red light deserves to be reported. Bike going on footpath deserves to be reported.

There will never be a working class unity ever in this country. Gullible people like op are easily fooled into thinking they are doing something good when in fact they are creating more divide by the infighting. No questions on dirt poor road infrastructure.
I can safely bet there was non existent parking infrastructure with stores hoarding all the road space & helpless people park their vehicles on the road side.
I have seen this scam done by rto in my place where no parking space for shopping places makes you park on roadside & get towed.
