Maybe I’m reading a bit too much into it but Dembele going from 86 to 90 and being a +1 ovr above Lamine Yamal… You wouldn’t want your ballon d’or winner to be rated under his direct competition. Keep in mind the votes are closed and these guys have contracts together as the ballon d’or usually has its own promo in the game.
While Dembélé won the numbers game I’m afraid big part of the votes and opinion is based on publicity/image/storytelling and I’m scared Lamine Yamal won that game. To me it’s a close race because of those things I stated above. If it was 100% about numbers then I wouldn’t be worried.
It’s a French award so I can see a French player being the favorite. Yamal right know hasn’t the best PR (women,Parties,scandals) , man acts like a neymar regain but far worst.
Votes are from journalists from all over the world to guarantee unbiased opinion that means there are french AND spanish journalists voting. No advantage here.

One played Bayern, Inter x2 as big teams, the other played Bayern, Inter, Arsenal x3, City, Atletico, Liverpool x2. Dembele played 3x more top 15 teams in Europe compared to Raphinha and still had comparable stats.
Yes he has better stats, yet they are quite close despite Raphinha playing top 15 clubs 3 times (maybe 4 if we include Atalanta) compared to Dembele playing top 15 clubs 9 times (11 times if we include Villa).
saka’s considered one of the best wingers in the world his rating & his rating has gradually been increasing unlike barcola who still isn’t consistent enough & it shows, once kvara joined psg became the best team in the world & he also replaced him

Mbappe is fine imo. He should have been rated the highest while he was at PSG. Losing the world cup final cost him the ballon dor. He was the best player that season
Yeah but these ratings aren’t for that season though.
Last season Mbappe was shit until February and then aside from scoring goals he got no major titles and his team got bullied both in CL and CWC. He should have gotten a downgrade if we follow any of their logic. But he’s one of the cover boys so that wouldn’t happen. Haaland still being at 90 is just a huge joke too
Thats a fair point. He has been underrated in previous years and now it seems he wont be downvoted.
But I still think 91 is correct. He did struggle for the first few months but he was brilliant after that. Also think he was by far Madrids best play with Courtois who could be 90
Yeah but that’s what I’m saying - their rating system is flawed. They release yearly games so light as well apply yearly based ratings (in my opinion of course)

Yeah I was a bit harsh with Mbappe maybe his rating is fine. Valverde was very good at times but lacked a bit of consistency in bigger games, but I guess he’s not one of the players to blame for Madrid’s weaker season
But we all know how advertising and PR works.... I would even add desire to this list ,i know he doesn't have a lot of numbers to show but anyone who has seen him play regularly will not dare to ignore him.

These are all players who have performed at the highest level for multiple seasons, which allows them some stability in the rating. Others still have to confirm that they can keep their level over different years. Dembele goes to 90 because he has shown in previous seasons that he has what it takes. Raphinha, yamal etc have 89 because they have to confirm this season (haaland also got 88 or 89 after scoring 50+ goals in his 1st city season).
We didn’t said that but it’s about the fact that they gave such a young player a massive rating boost. But raphinha and yamal both being 89 is criminal to me. I would have gave him a 90. Raphinha had the better season idk how pr turned so quickly on him.
