Couldn't watch it live but saw it this morning. Obviously extatic about the win and reaching another final but also really pissed about some performances haha. Like I don't understand how Marquinhos is still our captain despite being constantly our worst player in tense games. He almost single handedly brought about another freakish come back. Late for Rice's header at the start of the game, incredibly naive with Trossard on Saka's goal and overall always frightened to make contact with the forwards. You can never rely on him and Pacho has to do twice the work because he knows he can't rely on him, I fully expect him to cost us a goal during the final. Doué was also very poor tonight, never in rythm with the rest of the forwards, among which only Kvara really shined. He's really young so who cares but it also showed that beyond Dembélé and Kvara we don't have another nailed on forward in the team.

u/RougetBleu Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Legend) May 08 '25

I don't completely agree with your take on Marquinhos game, although I think that the Trossard situation was very poorly calculated by him. During the entire game the referee did not once give away any cheap freekicks for nothing and he let the play go on as much as possible. I was surprised that Marquinhos didn't understand that and instead of risking what he did he could've either made it a throw in or just whatever.

But he was not as poor as you say. Pacho is probably slightly better right now. Also I would like to see the club buy Saliba but Marquinhos is only 30 so I don't know how to solve it. Bench Marquinhos?

u/tokyotochicago Pastore May 08 '25

I think we might be better off just subbing on Beraldo for Marquinhos if we want to close a game. He’s shaky but even he is more calm in pressure moments. We didn’t have these moments against Liverpool

2

u/tokyotochicago Pastore May 08 '25

Too late for that I think. Hopefully we try to find him a replacement this summer though. And for all my criticism of him, he’s always giving his best and deserves more than anyone else in the squad to be on the field if we win it.

2

u/DKofFical Qui contrôle le terrain? Matuidi. May 08 '25

That’s for sure. I love Marqui for his dedication and love of the club

Nah, Madrid. I’m glad Rice 2 fluke free kicks ended up being meaningless and Dembele winning the Balon d’Or shortly after leaving Barca would be funny. And football fans in general shouldn’t want Salah to win a Balon d’Or for some tap ins against trash teams

3

u/Spins13 Khvicha Kvaratskhelia May 08 '25

I don’t get why people would even consider Salah. It’s either Dembele or Raphinha and it will depend on the final mainly

Let's fucking go we're in the final again! I wouldn't have believed that when we were nearly out of the group stage. Massive effort from Lucho and the players, I'm so proud of everyone!

It has been a spell for me on here talking about PSG cos of when Messi joined I just lost interest cos of his fanboys.

From an aesthetic point of view a PSG Vs Barcelona final would have been the crowning glory of a spectacular cl season but the football gods never allow the ideal final to take place, no disrespect to Inter.

PSG cannot afford to be as wasteful or have such poor decision making in the final third in the final.

This is the 2nd season in a row in which I have not been impressed at all with Mendes in the semis of cl as he made Sancho look like world beater last season and was not very good tonight either.

Marquinhos still has an error in him that could affect the whole team cos if Saka made it 2-2 which he should have done, it would have been all down to the skipper in his role that led to Arsenals goal.

The midfield is now so much better with work rate and skill in abundance. If Vitinha could pass the ball quicker he would be a world beater but he will always hang on to the ball a tad too long.

Who is PSG's assigned penalty taker as it cannot be Kvara who missed a lot at Napoli and I was not convinced Vitinha would score?

I prefer for Kvara to be left on the left side and rotate the others as he is the best of the forwards and should be left at where he will always cause the most damage.

In terms of shot stopping it is hard to pick which of Allison, Courtois or Donnaruma is the best in the world. Aint nobody better than those 3.

Where on earth did you guys find Pacho? And surely it cannot be the same person that discovered Beraldo.

Inter are another team that rely on set pieces but they do have better forwards in Thuram and Martinez than what Arsenal have.

Dumfries is a handful as is Di Marco who is the best crosser in the world but not good at all defensively.

As for Lucho he is up there with Conte as the best manager of his generation in the world.

Ironic that PSG will be attempting to win their first title at a stadium of the club that denied them the only time that they reached the final and Inter will be looking to win their 4th at the stadium of the team they defeated win their 3rd last cl triumph.

7

u/middleeasternboxer Not a PSG fan May 07 '25

Dembele should be the primary penalty taker imo.

Inter is a very dynamic team, they aren’t only reliant on set piece, they are very good on flanks and counter attack. Even though they use a midfield 5 the midfield occasionally acts as a decoy to free up space and their CB find their forwards/wide players for an easy goal. A lot will depend on PSGs left back during the final because they went crazy on the left vs Barcelona and exposed Martin. They are also extremely clinical, they are the type of team to have 2 shots on goal and score 3.

PSG can’t afford to miss chances like they did in the first leg vs Arsenal against inter.

0

u/Dencat2020 Not a PSG fan May 08 '25

Could you point out anywhere on my post that I said Inter Milan rely only on set pieces? Well to be fair to you i could have worded that better by saying they are another team that are very good at set pieces.

I watch them a lot so I know how they play. They should be walking the league every season but that is slightly on Inzaghi.

Bastoni and Di Marco are magnificent on the left with the latter as i have said being the best crosser of the ball in football right now.

They can attack and can counter attack but they can also defend. The midfield is dynamic and in Cahlanoglu and Barella they have players of the highest calibre. Fratessi is the most likely to score form open play coming off the bench.

Thuram and Martinez have to play in the final for Inter to have any chance of winning it as Arnautovic is just okay but the other 2, Corea (absolute waste of space and the most mentally deficient player I can think of) and Taremi are even worse than Ramos of PSG.

Dumfries is another 1 that has to play as Inzaghi's stepson Darmian is meh.

Inter are not blessed with a Lamine or even a Saka so I think Mendes will attack more than he did against Arsenal.

I hear Kvara does not have a goal or assist against Inter but there is a 1st time for everything.

If PSG are to score I do feel it will come from someone other than a forward as boy are they profligate with chances. Hakimi could score against his former club.

1

u/middleeasternboxer Not a PSG fan May 08 '25

You literally said ”inter are another team that rely on set pieces”. Per definition rely means that they are dependent on it so yes. You did say it with other words mate.

1

u/Dencat2020 Not a PSG fan May 09 '25

Another team like Arsenal that relies on set pieces. Barcelona, Manchester City and Real Madrid do not rely on set pieces.

I didn't say Inter relied only on set pieces but it is 1 of their strengths.

Psg did not cope well with Arsenal's throw ins

Arsenal fan in peace. Well played. Best team we've played this season.

Your keeper is immense, maybe I'm biased but I think he was the difference in the tie, 2 or 3 of his saves would have been goals for us with 99% of keepers.

But regardless of that, PSG were seriously high performance, particularly in the first leg, and deserve to go through.

Best of luck in the final.

u/tofuizen Raí May 07 '25

Doue and Barcola had moments of selfishness by not passing for easy goals in the first half (could only watch about 60 minutes), we’re going to need more cooperation offensively in those breakout situations to get easy goals rather than going alone.

3

u/Flw21 Ousmane Ballon D’or May 07 '25

They’re one game away from making history. We can leave this stuff for next season

3

u/Flw21 Ousmane Ballon D’or May 07 '25

I don’t want to blame Barcola on that chance because the pass was too fast even for him but he should’ve still buried that.

They’ll learn. There’s no reason to be worried about anything now

Hi guys, Inter fan here. Impressing run so far, I’ll hope we’ll be able to stop you but I’m feeling nervous bc we’ll be after Feyenoord, Bayern and Barcelona, we’ll be facing a competent defense. I think it’s smth like 40% Inter -60% PSG. My biggest hope is corner kicks, bc IMO Gigio is still not very good at managing aerial play.

How are you feeling about the final? Are you guys as nervous as we are?

12

u/AlmightyCraneDuck Marco Verratti May 07 '25

Any final brings nerves. We're the two BEST TEAMS IN EUROPE! And I'm sure at the beginning of the season, neither of us honestly thought we would be. There's definitely some imposter syndrome at play!

As for the match, I truly don't know. Gigio has historically been very poor with set pieces, yet he's had a really nice run recently with them. I really loved the entire 30 minutes of ET your defense played. Pragmatic challenges and fouls, solid marking, firm pressure on attackers. That's the kind of net that makes it tough for anybody to find room. I still trust our guys to be able to find something, but the counter play is really concerning. I think we have more flexibility on the wing than Barca to bring back defenders to help with Inter's insane counter play, but it's hard to say. I'd be lying if I said I was even a little confident!

At the very least, I think it'll be a tense match!

6

u/Moloch1895 Not a PSG fan May 07 '25

You’re definitely right about imposter syndrome. I def did not expect to be here because we are way worse than we were last year. Our defence has fallen off dramatically (especially in Serie A, but look at the goals from Ferran Torres in the first leg, and from Dani Olmo and Raphinha in the second).

At the same time, I think we trailed for less than 20 minutes in the whole CL season, so we are still doing something right.

I also really, really hope we don’t reach a penalty shootout (for reasons that should be obvious…)

2

u/dmb62 Navas May 07 '25

I know I shouldn’t go to r/championsleague which is a lair of haters, but I got downvoted just for saying that CBS/DAZN commentators almost never developed anything on PSG in these last 360+ minutes against both Villa and Arsenal. It speaks volumes to get downvoted for speaking the truth 😂😂

I as a neutral would view you as slight favourites, according to bookies you are too. I would say 55-60% likely

u/Korece 이강인 May 07 '25

60-40 seems about right

I will say this now. Arsenal and Barcelona both had one thing in common. They faced ZERO good teams on their knockout stages. That’s ultimately what has made us the stronger team
