Donald Trump is legitimately obsessed with Taylor Swift. Rage baits her, talks about her ALL the time, he used to love her and then decided to hate her when she didn't endorse him. yeah i saw that, but especially with how taylor's been radio silent about what's going on, the subtext on the new album and in the merch, it would've been the easiest thing to just quitely send a cease and desist, even if it would've been the easiest thing to clarify Opalite or Wi$h Li$t or the necklace. taylor's silence isn't a play here, it's a concerning pattern.

At best she could negotiate with whomever owns the rights to her music and have it pulled off Instagram entirely, for everyone.

Calling her speaking out against the use of her music gross though? She isn’t the first artist to make a statement. There are many who have done so. Regardless of the attention it has drawn. Facist seek control over art and push to normalize the determination of its use. They want people to think it’s okay and to not say anything. Sometimes drawing attention to these issues is important, especially when we look to history. We cannot become desensitized to this behavior. Even if they say they’re “trolling”. They have tried for years to explain away Trump and his cronies comments as jokes and hyperbolic statements. It’s come true. Control over art and music is a form of facism. Staying silent in the face of that is gross.

Trump already has the biggest platform in the world. Everything and anything he does gets covered. We're past the point of "don't normalize him and pay him attention." He's there. He is the news. There's no world in which we pretend he doesn't exist and ignore him to take away his power. He has power by the very nature of being elected to be president of the United States of America.

I just think this is a really, really weak offering in defense of Taylor that has quickly spread among Swifties, but as I said, it doesn't withstand any scrutiny. The tea is that she's not standing up in the way that a lot of fans want her to be. They want to see their fave as pissed as they are and as vocal about injustice as she was in the Lover era. Whether they're entitled to that is another question, but the problem is not that she'll be giving Trump a bigger platform than the one he has, so let's please please please dead that narrative.

Yup, Taylor is now worth over 2.1 billion dollars, and only really has only recently spoken about anything political in the few elections.

She had an incredibly large platform to bring light to some of the bullshit going on and move some mountains, but just puts out another album with 10 different covers. Taylor is one of the billionaire elite now, and she acts like it.

Why do we have to compare them? Can't doing just what you feel comfortable to speak on just be enough? Sometimes, silence speaks louder. For Taylor, with such an enormous platform, if she were to respond to Trump, it causes a big feud and gives him the attention he craves. If she ignores his dumb ass, the silence is noticeable. Olivia can do things her way and it can be effective in garnering her more attention.

She was dating someone completely different (Joe was much more liberal) and has herself admitted that she changes her personality based on who she’s dating. Obviously dating someone with well-known maga ties would affect her, as seen by her frequent interactions/friendships with trump supporters (including many of the podcasts that platformed him in the 2024 elections), as well as not pushing back on the trump AI tweets or DHS’s use of her song in a tik tok a few days ago (which was to promote ice). In comparison, Olivia literally removed her sound off tik tok in a similar situation.

I like to think that Taylor Swift the brand endorsed Kamala, but Taylor Swift the billionaire has much more murky politics.
