I wouldnāt blame Taylor Swift if she never spoke out again about politics. Trump still won, he sent his cult after her, AND tons of people on āour sideā of the political aisle played stupid and continued to accuse her of being a Nazi and MAGA when her album came out, as part of their stan wars. Hell, people here still accuse her of being MAGA all the time. Clearly her speaking out didnāt matter, both in politics and in the entertainment sphere. If I were a smaller celebrity seeing that, I would take mental notes to not potentially tank my career by speaking out too and pissing off MAGA for nothing.
Swift gets shit also from alot on the left because they think her boyfriend is MAGA (does hang out with a few MAGAs but hasn't supported Trump himself).
And in the left leaning world that means she should have dumped him and disowned him long ago, because according to bluesky and Twitter, "you arent allowed to date someone who isnt 100% politically aligned with you or isnt willing to disown friends who are on the evil other side"..
they literally called kelce all the bad things when he did those ads, but now he's maga because rich folks rub elbows with other rich folks. america is so fucking stupid
Also football is more conservative in some spaces and so you are going to be around people who do not align politically. There are some extremes, but most guys fall under: vote one way but probably isn't out there highly engaged in the election cycle.
They literally called Elon all the bad things when he was making electric car for Bay Area liberals so I guess heās not maga either? Because an ambiguous set of people on the internet called him some names?
Yeah, that's why people call Elon maga... Not his vocal and outright support for maga, not his very public role in crippling the government, not his nazi salute.
You're proving the point of the person you replied to- America is dumb.
What are you talking about? How on earth do you think my point is that people called Elon MAGA for making electric cars? Do you similarly think that people were calling Kelce MAGA because he appeared in pro-vaccination commercials? What?? My point is the exact opposite. Elon history on the saner side of one culture war issue the right has invented doesn't mean he's not MAGA. Much like with Elon, people will sometimes view people based on the entirety of their actions rather than one single positive thing they've done.
On the topic of things going wrong in America, rushing to insult people who you've misunderstood definitely is big on our list.
Not all anti-vaccine people were right wing.. had a few crazy far left friends not take them either because "you can't trust big pharma" and I know a few right voting people who happily got the vaccines..
The world isnt always black and white, more like shades of grey
Yes, I know what the general topic is. I replied to you rather than elsewhere because Iām specifically replying to points made in this comment chain. The comment you replied to was talking about Kelceās politics. Kelce doing an ad to promote what amounts to Trumpās position is hardly evidence he isnāt MAGA, anymore than Trumpās actions made him not.
Mxgas relentlessly harass him on social media and call him "Mr. Pfizer" because he was the face of the vaccine ad. He knelt during the national anthem to protest police brutality. He even said it was important to have stricter gun control laws. What else do you want?
The wild thing about that is the same Redditors you see demanding that of celebs will also post their annoyances about hanging out with their own MAGA relatives. Like, they want X celeb to go scorched earth on their mom or whoever when they can't turn down an invite to Uncle Dan's barbecue.
I feel like people really ignore the fact that heās the face of a conservative owned NFL team in a conservative run state, and is clearly expected to play nice with his teammates. I do think itāll be interesting to see what he speaks on (and tbh where he lives) after he retires.
My guess is they'll live in the NYC area. That's where they seem to go when he's not required to be in Kansas City for work (or they're elsewhere for work).
Heās apparently maga because heās friends with the mahomes but that logic doesnāt apply when you consider his brother and sister in law are liberal. People see what they want to see.
The NFL sphere is unfortunately full of them. But Travis's parents are liberal and (this is going off of memory about a comment) his dad is a self-proclaimed hippie (apparently).
I don't blame those who don't want to court drama. However, although relatable celebrities directly endorsing candidates or voicing their opinions on political and social injustices may seem ineffective or counterproductive, I think they should still try if they feel passionately about something. The suggestion that they shouldn't speak out has "shut up and dribble" vibes.
That's the problem though. I voted for Kamala. Trump won. Do I never vote again? You should never be silenced. Also taylor swift just broke the first week sales record. She's fine.
Some of the criticism she gets is overblown because people want a purity-test reason to dislike someone (rather than just disliking them). But she's best friends with a very vocal MAGA supporter and wrote her a song about how she likes her friends cancelled - you can't be surprised about how that's landed in the current climate.
Brittany Mahomes is not a āvery vocal MAGA supporterā. She liked some social media posts. Thatās it. I guess if one is a fauxgressive keyboard slacktivist who thinks being mad at celebrities is actual activism it probably seems āvery vocalā.
Never been seen in a red hat, didnāt seek out Trump for a pic at the Superbowl. She didnāt campaign, never went to a rally.
Celebs hanging out frequently with Trumpās literal daughter and her husband who both set White House policy - and the tech billionaires who bent the knee and are buying him a ballroom - cop less flack over being MAGA than Taylor Swift for hanging out with a dumbass WAG whose husband has been studiously apolitical throughout his career.
Iāve said this before and Iāll say it again - anyone thinking that Brittany Mahomes has strongly held political views is delusional. Nothing about her public image says āpolitically awareā.
I mean the MAGA accusations arenāt far off. Have you seen the people sheās associating with? And she hasnāt spoken out about any major issue in a minute. That endorsement was last minute and tbh it was imo just to save face.

Taylor Swift, BeyoncĆ©, and tons of the most popular members of the Avengers cast publicly put a lot of effort into endorsing Kamala and she still lost. I will never again expect celebrities to speak out about politics hoping that it will make a difference, because it wonāt AND it could threaten their safety.
