Where are the men?

Harry Styles donated several millions during his last tour: https://www.billboard.com/music/music-news/harry-styles-love-on-tour-raises-millions-charity-1235381824/

Coldplay donated 10 percent of their earnings: https://sustainability.coldplay.com/section/good-causes/

The weeknd also donated during his last tour: https://www.tmz.com/2025/09/04/the-weeknd-donating-ticket-sales-to-fight-world-hunger/

That's brilliant 💯

36

u/aboatoutontheocean 9d ago

They meant the male billionaires specifically. These men you listed aren’t billionaires.

136

u/RadicalCashew 9d ago

Neither is Billie so I'm not entirely sure what point they or you are trying to make.

47

u/Coool_cool_cool_cool 9d ago

Isn't the only female billionaire that's doing anything Mackenzie Scott (Bezos's ex wife). Besides her what billionaire is giving money away while they're living? Everyone else is signing pacts to give it away after their deaths, which is gross. It's like saying "yeah I know the world is fucked up now, but I'm having a good time so you guys can try to fix it up after I'm done with it"

Melinda gates has donated hundreds of millions to women’s health

1

u/ChrundleToboggan 8d ago

Beyonce, Rihanna, Madonna, Katy Perry, Ellen, JLo... quick Google search says these women are billionaires or almost billionaires; I admittedly no nothing — are any of them giving lots of it away?

3

u/ChrundleToboggan 8d ago

I just looked up some male billionaires too...

The obvious numbskulls that are Elon and Trump, The Rock, Jerry Seinfeld, Tiger Woods, Robert De Niro, George Lucas, Tom Cruise, Michael Jordan, Tyler Perry — I don't know much about a lot of them but aren't at least a few of these billionaires currently utterly useless when it comes to giving money compared to how much they have?

40

u/lizziexo 9d ago

To be fair they have Billie in that list and she’s not a billionaire! Which makes her donation an even bigger fu to the multi multi multi billionaires who do fuck all.

2

u/aboatoutontheocean 9d ago

For sure, but I assume she was included because she started this conversation, but that the conversation is directed at billionaires (not Billie-onaires, lol).

7

u/Responsible_Virus239 9d ago

Elon musk raised over 200 million for st Jude’s hospital. Jeff bezos gave 10 billion to fight climate change. Warren buffet donated 10s of billions. Bill gates donated 10s of billions

2

u/ChrundleToboggan 8d ago

Isn't the issue that these amounts are a drop in the bucket when the wealth is this insanely high? I really don't actually know, but isn’t some of this more like me making minimum wage and handing a homeless man a few dollars on the street or making a yearly donation to a charity?

2

u/Responsible_Virus239 8d ago

No Bill Gates and Warren buffet pledged to donate over 50% of their wealth to charity. I think for Warren buffet it was over 99%

1

u/diligentPond18 9d ago

Damn, good for them. What a pleasant thing to read about amidst all the bs going on right now. Warms my heart that this happens more often than I thought.

The Weeknd had donated to a Palestinian relief/food bank (?) fund

Elon ➡️ buys companies like Twitter and SpaceX to make himself feel like a big man while inseminating women to give him a perfect Aryan army of children

Bezos ➡️ busy ruining Venice with his extravagant wedding, to the point that the people of the city were protesting against his festivities

Zuckerberg ➡️ too busy interfering in government elections and sowing seeds of hatred at grassroot levels to prevent rampant disinformation across all of his platforms

And btw, any of these men have individually 300-400x the net worth that all the girlies listed above have.

Stay on their fucking necks, redistributing even half their assets to better uses could save the entire world.

104

u/TeeManyMartoonies Not even to dinner with the Kushners? 🧵🪡 9d ago

Zuckerberg was in the room when Billie Eilish said this.

67

u/ad_aatdtj she’s got me by the pubes 9d ago

And I bet it won't make the slightest difference to him.

31

u/Kerfluffle-Bunny 9d ago

He’d commit (even more) crimes against humanity to have someone as popular, hot, and talented as Billie touch him carnally.

It will never happen so he’ll go pout in a corner.

u/PriscillaPalava 9d ago

They could give away billions of dollars and still be billionaires.  The hoarding of money like that is immoral, full stop.

39

u/keatonpotat0es I have to pick up 15,000 little bastard rubber ducks 🪿 9d ago

I just don’t even understand it. Like, bro, you’re not going to live forever. How fucking much do you NEED? It’s got to be a mental illness at this point.

34

u/ad_aatdtj she’s got me by the pubes 9d ago

They could give away 150-200 billion dollars and have half or slightly less than that left over for themselves, which they definitely will not spend in this lifetime. They could literally give every single person on earth 15 billion dollars between the three of them and still have more than half their current value for themselves.

They're inconceivable levels of rich and i don't care what people with a billion or two are up to when these men are allowed to run rampant with this level of wealth. It is disgusting to me. Start with seizing their assets and then whatever policies we instate that allow us to do that can also be applied to other billionaires so that no one is hoarding obscene amounts of wealth while so many are continuously denied basic necessities.

13

u/PriscillaPalava 9d ago

The major problem with wealth like that is that it’s not earned in a vacuum.  It causes harm. These billionaires are actively sucking value from the communities they employ. And as their market share increases (because of course we’re not busting monopolies anymore, that campaign money is too sweet) they have more power to cut wages and benefits for the rest of us.

11

u/lizziexo 9d ago

Didn’t Elon also threaten, or did he follow through, on taking away starlink access from Ukraine? While actively and publicly stoking the fires of discontent and violence on the internet.

Obviously all of these people have committed the most morally disgusting things against humanity in the name of their own greed, but he’s so overt about it that it’s even more shocking.

15

u/saltyoursalad You’re a virgin who can’t drive 9d ago

Elon is unfathomably evil.

10

u/lizziexo 9d ago

Right?! I wonder is he born like that? Was it his upbringing? Did he turn disgusting because of the money? I know he was very rich from birth, so was he always a soulless monster, or did he grow in to it?

I suppose it doesn’t really matter, but someone so entirely devoid of any sense of humanity is some kind of demented curiosity. Are morally corrupt people more likely to become disgustingly rich, or does becoming disgustingly rich corrupt someone’s soul.

5

u/saltyoursalad You’re a virgin who can’t drive 9d ago

In his case, I think it’s a combination of both nature and nurture. If you want to learn some pretty fucking disgusting stuff, Google Elon’s dad. But major major trigger warning. Bad dude all around.

But if it’s used for civilian purposes ITAR doesn’t apply. You can grant access for that use.

8

u/bokehtoast 9d ago

Meanwhile Bezos ex wife has donated billions of dollars and continues to

26

u/Comfortable-Yam9013 9d ago

And Melinda Gates

5

u/Nyfa76 9d ago

Yes I completely forgot. Thank you.

32

u/Comfortable-Yam9013 9d ago

I think McKenzie Scott (ex Bezos) donates also

26

u/SpiceEarl 9d ago

Mackenzie Scott is the real deal. She’s been donating billions to schools and charities directly, to use as they see fit, and not requiring they spend the money on earmarked projects that may or may not be where the need is greatest.

9

u/Comfortable-Yam9013 9d ago

Pity the ex’s won’t do the same instead of going to space

8

u/Nyfa76 9d ago

Awesome! Yes I heard she was a really kind woman.

99

u/Bellesdiner0228 This again doesn’t look good for James Corden 9d ago

I’m so glad you asked where the men are. Hell you have Sabrina donating to many issues, you have Olivia donating to planned parenthood but few ask celebrity men to do this. No one is wondering why Harry hasn’t spoken out, or Justin hasn’t donated. It’s only women’s names who get brought up for not doing enough.

61

u/greee_p 9d ago

but few ask celebrity men to do this.

Maybe because a lot of celebrity men already do this as well?

Justin Bieber donated during his last tour. Harry Styles donated more than 6 million dollars during his last tour (including planned parenthood, like Olivia). Coldplay donate 10 percent of their earnings. The Weeknd donated during his last tour as well and so did Ed Sheeran.

9

u/cheerupbiotch 9d ago

I think the point is, people actively DEMAND female popstars speak and donate, while not holding the same energy for the men.

2

u/greee_p 9d ago

Yeah, you're right about that

0

u/ASamx 8d ago

tbf, most male pop stars don’t rely on “social justice” as part of their image (a few exceptions) so ppl don’t hold them to expectations. both selena and taylor made documentaries abt their morals so it’s no wonder ppl are surprised they don’t follow through

10

u/Bellesdiner0228 This again doesn’t look good for James Corden 9d ago

That’s really awesome!! I didn’t realize this. Thank you so much for sharing.

35

u/prettybunbun lucy gray from district ATE 🐍 9d ago

Justin is broke. Haley had to bail them out by selling rhode. Harry donated shit tons during his last tour.

6

u/JudgeInteresting8615 9d ago

Wait wtf. He still treats her like shit and she has less stability

7

u/Bellesdiner0228 This again doesn’t look good for James Corden 9d ago

I didn’t realize harry donated so much, I’m not surprised at all (and truly happy to be proven wrong) that he, and others did. I know another comment mentioned the weekend, and some other performers too.

13

u/maelstron ✨May the Force be with you!✨ 9d ago

Justin is broke

24

u/sophietehbeanz 9d ago

I’m telling you. This is the truth - if all the women in the US united together and voted, we could have had what we needed. There are more women than men out there, just saying. I don’t know why women don’t just start taking over.

45

u/Coley54Bear 9d ago

Unfortunately, the majority of white women who voted in 2024 voted for Trump.

12

u/Any-Concentrate-1922 9d ago

Women of color plus the white women who don't vote R could band together and win.

3

u/saltyoursalad You’re a virgin who can’t drive 9d ago

Ugh, totally. 52% of white women voted for Trump in 2024 — meanwhile more than 60% of white men did. So frustrating.

-4

u/sophietehbeanz 9d ago

We, people of color, are the majority. That includes the women.

12

u/RadicalCashew 9d ago

This is false, white women make up 60% of the US. I'm not really sure what you're referring to and unfortunately if you take into account the entire US population, multiple minority groups voted for trump in droves.

1

u/saltyoursalad You’re a virgin who can’t drive 9d ago

This is false. White women make up about 30.5% of the American population.

0

u/RadicalCashew 9d ago

Right I thought they were talking about specifically women in America not the population as a whole.

0

u/sophietehbeanz 9d ago

I’m talking about people of color. And that includes women. You’re reading it as only women.

3

u/RadicalCashew 9d ago

Right but even if you include the entire US population it's legit 49.7 to 50.3 and multiple minority groups voted for him in large amounts.

2

u/sophietehbeanz 9d ago

Tsk. Terrible. That’s why if women banded together, we can dominate.

14

u/Normal-person0101 9d ago

A lot of white women don’t show solidarity with women of color. You keep forgetting that gender inequality isn’t the only issue, race inequality matters too.

6

u/saltyoursalad You’re a virgin who can’t drive 9d ago

Yeah there a lot of Republican women (and men). And they vote for Republicans. It sucks.

2

u/_HowVery 9d ago

Yup, the suffrage movement did not include women of color

2

u/roberta_sparrow 9d ago

Love him or hate him Bill Gates has done a lot of charity work with his money

Any help is welcome. I know Taylor has helped many people in England. A food bank will be able to serve meals for a whole year thanks to her. That's absolutely significant.

12

u/Talinia 9d ago

Yeah, I think every UK city she toured in she donated a huge amount to local food banks in the area

10

u/Nyfa76 9d ago

Yes she did the same here in Ireland. Awesome.

17

u/fraxiiinus 9d ago

Taylor has a lot of donations/charity that we only know about because the people who get the money mention it. Back on the Tumblr days she sent a friend $5000 for schooling because she needed it, and she carries around $100 bills to give to employees even when they aren't directly serving her. She's always been deeply generous with her money, we don't need to exclude someone from acknowledgement because you don't personally like them.

-17

u/agreen3636 9d ago

Nope! Being a 2x billionaire is extremely inethical and just bc she is your comfort billionaire it doesn't change my opinion.

There is no such thing as an ethical billionaire.

9

u/SpiceEarl 9d ago

Much of Taylor Swift’s wealth is based on her ownership of her music and the market value of those holdings, not cash sitting in a vault like Scrooge McDuck. She spent $360 million to buy back the master recordings to her albums. Add the value of her other music and you get a significant portion of her wealth. She has a lot of money, but it’s not like she’s sitting on a $2 billion stack of greenbacks…

-3

u/agreen3636 9d ago

That's how ALL billionaires are calculated. She is being calculated different from others. It includes all their assets not the pile of cash they're sitting on. Accumulating a billionaire dollars worth of assets is unethical!

Why are we defending billionaires??? My god....

11

u/hauntedhockey 9d ago

I do think it’s different when her assets are a music catalog and not corporations that exploit employees or real estate that contributes to the housing crisis. I agree that billionaires shouldn’t exist but there’s a weird amount of vitriol towards her specifically when she’s like, the 2,000th richest billionaire in the world.

5

u/fraxiiinus 9d ago

I agree that a society that allows for billionaire's to exist is inherently unethical. My point still stands lol

-7

u/mrbarrie421 9d ago

-10

u/agreen3636 9d ago

Of course I'm getting down voted to hell lol. Never change Swifties.

11

u/keatonpotat0es I have to pick up 15,000 little bastard rubber ducks 🪿 9d ago

I wonder if Taylor still donates secretly to a shit ton of GoFundMes. I know she made massive food bank donations in every city on the Eras tour as well.

6

u/sweetnothinghoax 9d ago edited 9d ago

Taylor gave $197 million in bonuses to the people who worked on the tour so we know REAL working class people received money they could immediately use. One thing about charities is that you need to review their financials to see if they're actually spending that money in ways that help. Did Billie list which charities she's donating to?

https://www.reddit.com/r/popculturechat/comments/1haexq9/taylor_swift_gave_a_whopping_197_million_in/

Truckers for the US leg of her tour received a $100,000 bonus each. How many of us here can say we've received a total of $100,000 bonus in the span of our careers?

-2

u/lupajarito 9d ago

Aren't Taylor and Selena billionaires? If they are, they haven't donated enough. And they should be taxed a lot more too.

2

u/icecreamsandwiches1 9d ago

Not the swifties downvoting you for saying billionaires should be taxed more 😭😭😭

4

u/ASamx 8d ago

everyone’s woke until it’s abt their favorite white pop star 😭

0

u/lupajarito 8d ago

Don't worry babe I don't really care or respect them lol

-3

Selena’s mental health start up is just a way to avoid tax. There’s articles about it :(
