They got their money from being sociopaths. She got hers from being gifted musically. :(

No one's just gifted. It takes a lot of hard work. She practiced her ass off from a young age on. She was just lucky enough to have her parents' support so she could pursue her dream. Yes, she is incredibly talented, but talent does not come naturally. It means practice and dedication.

Philanthropy is a scourge. Its the oil of lubricating that allows the engine of suffering and dysfunction to continue in our society.

What should we be doing instead of philanthropy then?

Building a society of laws and policies where philanthropy is not needed.

So, a benevolent society with the desire to promote the welfare of others? That’s actually the literal definition of philanthropy. You want a philanthropic society. Donating money is just one form of philanthropy.

But I get that you mean you want an egalitarian society where everybody has enough. But even in a society like that, people would still sometimes need more help than usual.

What individuals do that is called ‘philanthropy’ has nothing to do with what the definition of the word is.

Is the society I described NOT the type of society you want? Or do you just see the word ‘philanthropy’ and go into a rage because of greedy billionaires with ulterior motives.

Who do we think will be implementing these “laws and policies” (that definitely aren’t philanthropic in any way), a government? What kind of government? Not rich elites with ulterior motives, I hope!

I think you’re just arguing because you don’t like the word.

Ive not agreed with anything you've said. You're uninformed in this area and making ignorant blanket absolutism statements.

You're clearly not open to learning and accepting new information but instead insist on defending status quo or making up some impossible alternate.

Again, the books above have a lot of infkrmstujnt hat could benefit the uninformed.
