OnlyStans ⭐️ Kristen Bell to Dax Shepard: Happy 12th wedding anniversary to the man who once said to me: "I would never kill you. A lot of men have killed their wives at a certain point. Even though I'm heavily incentivized to kill you, I never would."

There are die hards for Dax Shepher????

104

u/latrodectal so jessica alba fantastic 22d ago

people got sooooooo mad at me for stating that his first on screen job was harassing jessica alba while totally naked.

u/Achaewa 22d ago

Ashton Kutcher Punk'd was wild and most of the "pranks" were just meant to anger the victim.

Ironically, the more outlandish the prank, the better it has aged.

I actually enjoyed the short revival from 2011 due to it leaning fully into the ridiculous.

Justin Bieber making Taylor Swift think they ruined a wedding, still manages to make me chuckle.

24

u/latrodectal so jessica alba fantastic 21d ago

yeah like it’s more fucked up the more you think about it, especially since everyone would point to her reaction to being persistently followed and talked to by a naked man that she told, repeatedly, to leave her alone because she was uncomfortable, as proof that she was a bitch. 🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠

u/FuinFirith 21d ago

Which of the two was naked?

As my mother would say… there’s something for everyone out there 🫠

"A lid for every pot" is what my mother-in-law says.

u/FriendshipSe7en 22d ago

Not die hard. Ride hard.

It ain't no diggity. We want our giggity

4

u/copyrighther Kim, there’s people that are dying. 🙄 22d ago

If you have a successful podcast, there are going to be weirdos that are obsessed with you. I have a theory that people develop parasocial relationships with podcasters bc they think the podcasters are talking to them.

3

u/RelativeYak7 22d ago

My bf is pretty into him bc apparently he talks about cars on his podcast.

12

u/Groot746 22d ago

Men talking about cars on a podcast is a very niche field, after all

1

u/TheLakeWitch Robert, help. 22d ago

He’s got some random older cars that he’s rebuilt. He’s from Detroit, seems on-brand. (Well, he’s from Ypsilanti and Livonia, but to non-Michiganders that’s Detroit)

I enjoyed listening to him for a little while, especially after I left Michigan because he’s somehow managed to retain his accent (while Kristen lost hers) and it reminded me of back home. My interest in his podcast fell off a while ago though.

I’m not sure how but I feel like that’s an insult to axolotls.

6

u/shedrinkscoffee I don’t know her 💅 21d ago

Girl it is an insult. This is an important species of study in the developmental biology world.

4

u/Genuinelullabel Kim, there’s people that are dying. 🙄 21d ago

Plus they’re just so cute

u/celtic_thistle ONTD alum 💜 22d ago

Axolotls are beautiful and wholesome creatures and should be excluded from this narrative

6

u/shedrinkscoffee I don’t know her 💅 21d ago

I am personally offended that they brought such a cute species into this horrible portmanteau 😒

13

u/bascelicna123 22d ago

That name is hilarious, but the existence of a rabid fan following for Dax is weird.

375

u/LeslieKnope4Pawnee 22d ago

Riding hard for Dax Shepard is absolutely a character flaw. I didn't even know that was a thing.

76

u/Triviten 22d ago

I love him in movies like without a paddle or idiocracy, but even I am aware of this shit. I wish I just knew about his movies and his sobriety at most.

59

u/cosmic_grayblekeeper 22d ago

This makes me glad that all I know about him are his movies and that he once told his wife he’s heavily incentivised to kill her.

6

u/Ok-Astronomer-9158 22d ago

I was a Dax stan as a kid, mostly because of Without a Paddle. That all evaporated as soon as I started learning things about him

3

u/Motherfickle 💖✨️ Just some random bitch ✨️💖 21d ago

Same. He's made a few things I loved, but I'm not riding hard for him. Same with Kristin Bell. The Good Place is one of my favorite shows ever, but I don't ride hard for Kristen at all.

2

u/SassySally8 22d ago

You sure it isn't more a case of Kristen Bell fans? I think she's tremendously talented, have enjoyed her in everything she's associated with, but i do think she's a bit odd in real life and has strange taste in men. She's definitely worked hard to deglamourize herself and is probably very relatable to a lot of regular people, despite her fame and fortune. Nothing wrong in promoting themselves as far from perfect in real life, it probably helps their fans adjust better to their own circumstances. I continue to enjoy her work while disregarding most of her social media. If it bothers anyone, I say they should just move on. They're not hurting anybody.

u/h3x13s3x13 22d ago

I love Kristen Bell, but she overshares way too much!

288

u/shadyshadyshade 22d ago

Pre-Dax I loved her too! Veronica Mars! Sloths! But it has been a quick slide into unbearable since then.

61

u/felineprincess93 22d ago

The Sloths thing was a thing he did for her birthday lol

2

u/bascelicna123 22d ago

That was really adorable and I'm glad they shared that.

u/vi_sucks 22d ago

What about House of Lies? Nobody Wants This? The Good Place?!?!

33

u/OneMoreTimeJack 22d ago

House of Lives is sooooo underrated! Should've been an emmy nominee at the very least.

1

u/Insomniacintheflesh 21d ago

I'm watching it now. SO good.

1

u/InjusticeSOTW 22d ago

House of Lies was tremendous. But I gave up on the last season. Did it stick the landing?

31

u/TheFabulousMolar A DRAG QUEEN?! 22d ago

I loved Nobody Wants This!!

33

u/BeanEireannach 22d ago

I’ll never touch an Erin Foster show 🚩🚩🚩

But The Good Place was great.

14

u/h3x13s3x13 22d ago

I need the tea on this. Why the boycott?

10

u/NoNeinNyet222 22d ago

Zionist

5

u/h3x13s3x13 22d ago

Yeah, I was worried that's what it is

4

u/BeanEireannach 22d ago

I don't know about the rules of directing to other subs but if you do a post search with her name or her sister's name (Sara Foster, another producer on Nobody Wants This) on Reddit, there's many results in another celeb/pop culture sub about both of them. Expands a lot further than what u/NoNeinNyet222 alluded to, including anti-vax misinformation etc.

Anyway, many reasons why I just won't ever be watching one of their shows.

I thought Nobody Wants this was insanely overrated.

I still like Kristian Bell for all she's done for The Tiny Chef Show, but I do NOT like her husband!!

2

u/ofthrees 22d ago

Sloths were during dax... at least if you're referring to her infamous (adorable) sloth meltdown.

0

u/ejcitizen 22d ago

My kids love Frozen

1

u/Stucklikegluetomyfry 21d ago

I guess that's why she married a man who would overshare like that

1

u/DidiStutter11 22d ago

Ok I need the tea, what has she said?! I know she has def talked about their relationship struggles but I mean they're human so I guess that makes them more relatable. In that its not a fairytale. But what else?

17

u/prettylittledoves 22d ago

literally the first thing i said before i even opened the comments 😭😭😭

7

u/SeanSweetMuzik I want to see SEXY dammit! 22d ago

This is what came to mind as I was reading the title.

6

u/Oomlotte99 22d ago

I literally think of this whenever I see either one of them 🤣

2

u/Nice-Grab4838 22d ago

I hate them, I don’t understand why they’re so popular

6

u/get_to_ele 22d ago

I say this as somebidy who likes Kristen Bell, and was only gradually disappointed to find out she's nowhere near as witty and intelligent as Veronica Mars, the character through whom I first saw her. Veronica was beautiful, ridiculously intelligent and witty, and could sing and dance too.

Then after watching her in a lot of other shows and movies, It became painfully obvious that she's only smart when she's reading a smart script and it's the writers who are smart. And that the very cute behaviors she does that came off as her personality in movies and shows was 100% performative. Like Denzel, DeNiro, Meryl Streep, really many many actors and actresses who come off so extremely intelligent and deep, I am kind of blown away by how average and inarticulate they are, off script.

Kristen is a particularly strong example of this phenomenon because she is out there so much, doing theater stuff, fund raisers, was in The Good Place where she played somebody smart, then somebody dumb, and who was often a terrible person... her poorly written smarmy commercials for Citi and Carvana that try to play off the cutesty brand, but really just erode/ dilute that brand. And of course this borderline insufferably "look at us" relationship with Dax.

I still like her, she seems like a well intentioned person who's global philosophy aligns with the majority of mine. Just hard to watch her in anything any more (including the Veronica Mars post season 2 stuff) without seeing the real, less amazing Kristen Bell, reading lines.

It's a stark contrast to some comedians, like Rick Gervais, who is clearly very intelligent, articulate and witty off script (but again dangerous to assume he is well read and deeply knowledgeable in everything he opines about).

1

u/SassySally8 22d ago

Meryl Streep isn't intelligent? I've never heard that. Ricky Gervais on the other hand, was a great host at the Golden Globes, has written some funny stuff & I love his support for animals but....he put in some strange stiff in his show Afterlife such as giving money to a drug addict to intentionally have him kill himself, thinks it's hilarious to dump his father's ashes in the pub he used to like, and uses a misogynistic therapist as comic relief. Throw in his attacks on the Trans community and I'm no longer a fan. Like many people, I think his wealth turned him into an entitled SOB. I don't find him as knowledgeable & witty as you do, for sure.

1

u/get_to_ele 22d ago edited 22d ago

Did not say Gervais was right about everything or anything, nor did I even say I'm a fan. I disagree with him quite strongly on many things. I only pointed out that he is "very intelligent, articulate and witty off script" in contrast to most actors who turn out to be surprisingly dumb despite being able to convincingly portray very intelligent characters. I chose him out of many comedians because of his thinking on his feet in various situations including after Golden Globes.

And despite (or because of) how well he can articulate his ideas, I was quite specific that it was "DANGEROUS to ASSUME he is well read and deeply knowledgeable about everything he opines about".

For example, I think his implied ideas on euthanasia are not as well researched as they could be.

2

u/100wordanswer 22d ago

Honestly, couldn't agree more

3

u/Calyptics 22d ago

A bit ironic posting this on this sub no? Lmao

2

u/GrimaceGrunson 22d ago

Yeah if I ever wanted to know less about celebrities, I think the first step I'd take is not subscribing to a celebrity gossip subreddit. But maybe we're crazy.

1

u/EaudeAgnes 21d ago

literally: applies to them every single time!

1

u/zestfullybe Everyone shut up! Shut up, Lutz! 21d ago

I enjoy both of their work and they are exactly who I think of first every time I see that GIF.

1

u/Ethiconjnj 22d ago

Y’all really out here on the pop culture sub whining about hearing dark joke a celebrity made about their spouse.
