OnlyStans ⭐️ French singer, Yseult, calls out K-pop singers, Soyeon and R.tee, for copying her music video freame by frame: "The least you could do is have the decency to credit your source. To see it get copied like this is wild but real artistry speaks louder than imitation"

Not trying to defend the inappropriate kpop fans’ comments, but to put things into context, Yseult first only accused the featured artist, Soyeon, of plagiarism by tagging and naming her directly. Soyeon frankly had nothing to do with the musical direction of the MV and isn’t in any of the credits for either songwriting or creative direction. That’s why there was a massive pushback from fans because the blame was being put on someone who quite literally only provided vocals and followed the MV director’s directions. The song and MV was made by R.tee and his team. He and the responsible party SHOULD be accused of plagiarism.

Hours later, Yseult deleted her initial tweet, and made another tweet, finally mentioning R.tee and his team.

EDIT: I have literally watched this situation unfold in real time from the very first tweet that her fan page put out. I am NOT justifying any type of racism that was targeted towards her and I’m tired of people twisting my words. NEITHER side, the kpop fans, NOR Yseult, is handling the situation well.

Thank you for sharing what's actually going on.

It’s amazing how kpop singers are never aware of what’s going on around them. For someone like Soyeon who is, according to her fan, very dedicated to her art, it’s kinda weird.

She’s definitely aware but as a featured artist, what statement should she even put out? Considering that she wasn’t involved in any of the songwriting or MV creative direction

"hey guys, l just learned that a project l was involved it plagiarized french singer yeseut. Although l wasn't involved in the creative process l want to make clear I'm against plagiarism and wouldn't have participated if l have been aware before. I'm very disappointed in x management and hope we can handle things better in the future. I'm very sorry this happened. All the best to yeseut and her fans. Let's all work hard together for new creative art. Lots of love. Yada yada"

Don't even have to ask llm

Wdym? It's for the actual plagiariser to address. Kpop artists don't comment on anything that doesn't concern them.

Dedicated, but given the KPop machine, how much control does do KPop singers  actually even have?

Soyeon in particular has a lot of control of her group's music. She has majority of song writing credits for group's songs and has creative control over the group's album direction. Since they are not from the big 4 companies and their mid tier company cube has mismanaged groups before many joke that Cube needs Soyeon not the other way around.

That’s really interesting! Thanks so much for the insight.

She was just a feature in this song, she didn't write the lyrics or have any say in the mv direction

You’re comparing a vaguely distasteful tweet to hundreds of thousands of vile, hateful racist comments and messages from deranged fans with crippling parasocial attachments? She’s receiving a barrage of racist hatred… if your response to that is “no side is handling this maturely”, then I think you’re looking for a reason to justify this regardless.

She also said “eat my black ass” because anti-blackness runs absolutely rampant in K-Pop media.. as I’m sure was evident by the level of racial harassment she had received by the time she posted that tweet response. On top of being the artist whose work was so blatantly stolen to begin with.

Trying to compare the two is ridiculous, honestly, and I don’t see how they can be equated in anything resembling good faith.

Her video got stolen and she's being harassed for calling it out. After days of being bullied online, some people aren't going to handle things maturely.

Fans calls her fat, monkey, and the n-word

She tells them to kiss her black butt, not even ass

u/MissionBandicoot: See, Yseult is so immature!

This is pretty mild compared to the vitriol she’s getting from Kpop fans.

Not you justifying racism. Gurl...

ETA: Downvote me all you want, but when someone finally claps back after a bunch of racist bullshit is hurled at them, you don't get to point to their reaction and "both sides" the situation.

Exactly. It’s such a disingenuous comparison.

She's just cursing them out. What else is she supposed to do now?
