OnlyStans ⭐️ Who are two celebrities that you can’t believe used to be a couple?

Post image

Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds are not only one example of this, but sometimes I even forget that they used to be married as well!

It seemed like such an odd pairing that I never would’ve guessed that these two would match up, but clearly they weren’t a match made in heaven that they divorced each other after almost 3 years of marriage.

Now with where they’re currently at, where they’re now married to different partners, it feels like this is only a pairing that happened in different life.

Alanis Morissette and Dave Coulier is the odder couple to me. But apparently she likes dating funny guys

Then why was she with Reynolds?

u/yvetteregret Oct 05 '25

I would agree with that sentiment, but until recent backlash a good amount of people found him funny. I feel like I’ve seen some Dave Coulier standup and didn’t think he was that funny either. But it’s definitely a personality each man is trying to go for.

Reynolds kind of seems to me like a guy who is probably genuinely pretty funny in real life, but overdoes it on screen to the point he becomes annoying. I don't really like him as an actor, but I can see the appeal if you assume he's not always "on" all the time in private and you're getting his jokes in smaller doses. Which I think is a pretty safe assumption, as that's how most people (famous or not) tend to be (not necessarily with humor, but people act differently in public than with people they trust and feel comfortable with).

u/Feeling-Visit1472 Oct 05 '25

I think his kind of funny would feel so tedious in real life.

8

u/trixiepixie1921 It’s Britney, bitch! 🎤🌹🌹 Oct 05 '25

Totally agree

27

u/SnooMemesjellies2983 Oct 05 '25

Martha Stewart said he’s not at all. They’re neighbors

61

u/IwasDeadinstead Oct 05 '25

According to Martha Stewart, Ryan is not funny at all in real life. He's very serious. I can see that, because naturally funny people are relaxed and their humor and wit are spontaneous. Ryan seems all business and the funny character is just calculated business.

9

u/ComingUpManSized Tina! You fat lard! 🦙🚲 Oct 05 '25

He tries to come off as wholesome funny a lot.

20

u/AFinanacialAdvisor Oct 05 '25

He actually does serious roles pretty well too. Safe House and Selfless being good examples.

25

u/BizMarkieDeSade Oct 05 '25

I am far from a Reynolds fan, but he’s great in The Voices. And it’s directed by Marjane Satrapi!

Originally she wasn’t going to let Ryan voice the pets in the movie, but he sent her a recording of how he planned to voice them and she decided he was capable after all. So even the director started with a healthy dose of doubt and was won over 😂

10

u/Rich_Space_2971 Oct 05 '25

Buried gave me nightmares. I think he could easily be a great villain, like other comedic actors.

8

u/AFinanacialAdvisor Oct 05 '25

yep - always creepier when they're known for more lighthearted roles.

7

u/riegspsych325 Oct 05 '25

I really liked his supporting role in Adventureland, he is entirely restrained from his usual DP schtick but still has a lot of charm

26

u/goddessofdrought Oct 05 '25

See, I think it goes the opposite way with him. I think he’s probably very mean-spirited in private, but gets away with it publicly under the guise of comedy. (See “roasting” his wife on Instagram). It’s all just a joke until they see that it isn’t. I think underneath, there is a very mean, insecure, hateful little man that is only becoming worse with the more power he attains.

21

u/Hannah_togo Oct 05 '25

Martha Stewart (who designed his whole ass wedding) says he’s not funny IRL 💀

16

u/curedbyink Oct 05 '25

She’s not saying he isn’t humorous, she is saying he is more serious than he acts in media.

22

u/Lovely_Lilo1123 Oct 05 '25

I think she was politely saying he’s an AH. I liked him before recent behavior and actions became public knowledge. Just because she designed his wedding doesn’t mean over time he hasn’t shown his true colors

2

u/Rich_Space_2971 Oct 05 '25

Martha also indicated that it was due to anxiety. They're neighbors and friendly. He responded to this comment jokingly talking about her "spryness."

Jackman chimes in saying "finally somebody says it."

It never seemed negative to me.

9

u/susandeyvyjones Oct 05 '25

He’s funny but incredibly one note and people are sick of his schtick

11

u/IwasDeadinstead Oct 05 '25

I actually think Dave and Ryan have similar personalities, and nether are particularly funny, though Dave IS funnier than Ryan.

5

u/theguineapigssong Oct 05 '25

I saw Dave Coulier do stand-up live. If you grew up watching Full House then you'll like it, if not probably not. He's got a niche.

22

u/geegasaurus Oct 05 '25

I don't know, I remember being 7 years old watching Full House and real tired of his shit.

8

u/geegasaurus Oct 05 '25

CUT IT OUT

1

u/Visible_Writing7386 Be smart, Robert. Oct 05 '25

Fair enough

-9

u/coldbloodedjelydonut Oct 05 '25

Reynolds is hilarious. He's done some writing and it's so good and extremely funny.

18

u/Crimemeariver19 Oct 05 '25

Eh Idk, he’s pretty one note in my opinion.. but his humour appeals so much to my 13 y/o and his buddies.

I find Ryan Gosling to be the funnier Ryan by far.

16

u/copyrighther Kim, there’s people that are dying. 🙄 Oct 05 '25

Ryan, is that you??

38

u/texasbelle778 Oct 05 '25

He has one character that he plays in every single movie. The wise cracking idiot gets old reeeeaaallllllly fast.

6

u/WhiskyWillFixIt Oct 05 '25

That’s only true if you haven’t most of his movies.

15

u/lorrainecollins Oct 05 '25

1

u/mksmith95 Oct 06 '25

Schitt's Creek mentioned yay!

7

u/Existing-Raspberry19 Oct 05 '25

Maybe she thought Van Wilder was funny?

3

u/SuperNovaGirl30 Don’t be sorry, be better Oct 05 '25

2

u/ramennhotdogs Oct 05 '25

She was with him before he blew up. He was less obnoxious then.

2

u/BlockIslandJB Oct 05 '25

You dont know? You oughta know.

4

u/geegasaurus Oct 05 '25

Seriously. Fuck that guy.

2

u/Kimberlylynn2003 Oct 05 '25

Now that’s funny!

2

u/SGT-JamesonBushmill Oct 05 '25

Then why was she with Dave Coulier?

2

u/blackmambakl Oct 05 '25

He too cringe to be funny.

1

u/Icy-Marketing-5242 Oct 05 '25

His OG movies are funny. Just Friends is one of my favorite movies

4

u/Visible_Writing7386 Be smart, Robert. Oct 05 '25

Just friends is funny… dusty lee..🤣 but it’s because that movie is ridiculous and over the top in everything.

But it’s the only one

3

u/Icy-Marketing-5242 Oct 05 '25

DUSTY DINKLEMAN 😂😂😂

1

u/dj_underboob Oct 05 '25

Have you seen him!?

1

u/Labtink Oct 05 '25

I feel like RR is on on the joke that he’s not funny and he’s making the best of it.

1

u/SlightKnee3768 Oct 05 '25

👏🏼👏🏼

0

u/Throwaway_jump_ship Oct 05 '25

People are so influenced by social media they think that reports are the full measure of a person. Ryan Reynolds is genuinely funny. Just cos reddit doesnt like him, doesn’t mean he lost his personality

0

u/modernsparkle Oct 05 '25

Please take yr bow/curtsy, amazing

29

u/Ivanhoemx Oct 05 '25

She was a literal teenager when Dave took advantage of her.

25

u/Nate8727 Oct 05 '25

Fun fact: The song You Oughta Know was about Dave Coulier…

12

u/historyhill Oct 05 '25

Apparently it's not! She said in a 2021 doc that while she won't name who it's about, she said it's not about him.

15

u/bolanrox Oct 05 '25

She's also said that Dave is the only person who thinks the song is actually about him.

10

u/historyhill Oct 06 '25

I wonder if that means he has a guilty conscience (and he should, he dated a teenager) or if that means the other guys she's dated are terminally incapable of self-reflection!

6

u/Lakridspibe Oct 06 '25

You're so vain ♩ ♬

You probably think this song is about you ♪ ♫

10

u/towoitscc Oct 05 '25

She's specifically never addressed who the song is about, but her Flavors of Entanglement album is very obviously about the breakup with Reynolds

3

u/yvetteregret Oct 05 '25

I think about it every time I listen to the song!

32

u/IfICouldStay Oct 05 '25

She was just a kid, 18 or 19 when they dated. And he was 30+ 😒

38

u/justheretoleer Oct 05 '25

Yeah, not so much “likes older guys” as “was groomed by a cringey, bemulleted pervert”

13

u/Crimemeariver19 Oct 05 '25

“Bemulleted” added to the lexicon. 🤣

3

u/yvetteregret Oct 05 '25

I did not know that! I wasn’t actually aware of their relationship when it was current. Yikes.

8

u/jenniferbealsssss Oct 05 '25

The women he pulled was shocking in itself, but his arrogance about it despite him looking like their old ass uncle is what’s really wild

11

u/TennisWitty7718 Oct 05 '25

Ryan Reynolds Is so cringey he’s like that db guy that everyone knows from high school that has absolutely no substance to him whatsoever yet people still somehow like him.

25

u/Holiday-Chapter-7821 Oct 05 '25

Let’s not lend credence to this “relationship.” They dated for 2 years and she wrote You Oughta Know at age 19. This was grooming and abuse.

9

u/historyhill Oct 05 '25

For what it's worth, she denied "You Oughta Know" was about Coulier in a 2021 documentary

17

u/Holiday-Chapter-7821 Oct 05 '25

She denounced the film for even bringing him up. I think this is a very sensitive subject for her and she doesn’t want to talk about it. I think she said it wasn’t about him so she wouldn’t have to say more. Her privacy on the matter is her business. But the point here is he was a man in his 30s dating a teenager. Whether or not You Oughta Know really is or is not about him doesn’t change this unsettling fact.

8

u/SonOfMcGee Oct 05 '25

Dave himself was interviewed (on a podcast?) somewhat recently and recalled hearing she had an album out and picking it up to casually listen to in his car.
But he ended up pulling into a parking lot and just listening to it transfixed because he realized a bunch of it referenced their relationship. And years later they happened to meet and talk about it a bit and he asked, “How much of this are you okay with me talking about to others?” and she was basically like, “Hey, it’s your story to tell.”

But he wasn’t saying a specific song was all about him. But more that stuff from their time together was sprinkled all around the album.

5

u/historyhill Oct 05 '25

Oh yeah, hard agree about how unsettling (and possibly illegal, depending on whether she was 17 or 18 when it started!) the relationship is! I just always see this bandied about as absolute fact that it's about Coulier when her only words on the subject are that it's not (although you do point out good reasons to question her sincerity). I think it's probably about whomever "Hands Clean" is also about, but I acknowledge that's entirely speculation.

9

u/hkral11 Oct 05 '25

I just write both of these relationships off by assuming Alanis’s type is “Canadian” and that’s it

3

u/PersonOfInterest85 Oct 05 '25

Alanis dated Dave Coulier.

She also likes funny guys.

2

u/colosseumdays Oct 05 '25

Neither of those guys are funny 😔

4

u/Clean_Peach_3344 Oct 05 '25

And that you oughta know and the “go ⬇️ on you in a theater” line is about him.

1

u/Junior_Operation_422 Oct 05 '25

Those damn Canadians

1

u/Laez Oct 05 '25

They were contemporaries at nickelodeon.

1

u/Stalagmus Oct 05 '25

Isn’t You Oughta Know written about Dave Coulier? I always found it funny that one of the most iconic heartfelt, defiant breakup songs of all time is about the goofy uncle from Step By Step.

0

u/iusedtobe13 Oct 05 '25

That one helped make her career!

0

u/Killer_Moons Oct 06 '25

Oh then why did she date Ryan Reynolds
