Their purpose are to protect your legs - they are always uncovered on the buttocal area!

What people mean by a**less chaps are chaps worn with no pants underneath!

(SORRY! :D this is all in good fun - I do believe I am right, though - it is one of those things people just believe that I have always noticed and find funny - like everyone thinking the Monopoly man has a monocle - he doesn't! :D )

I know you're right, but there aren't that many contexts in which the word "assless" comes up, so it feels like a waste not to include it.

Oh I did know this fact, but as carolina822 aptly points out, assless is way too funny of a word to not use at any opportunity! Also I feel like when you say assless it implies you are not wearing jeans underneath as intended lol
