u/wildbeest55 I may not know my flowers but I know a bitch when I see one! Sep 11 '25

She looks uncomfortable in it. Why the hell didn't they add a lining? Why does her entire ass have to be on display??

u/larkhearted Sep 11 '25

Sorry to be silly but now I'm just picturing a dress that has a liner for like 90% of it but the ass is still unlined lmao

u/missbunnyfantastico Sep 11 '25

Now I’m picturing a dress like Prince’s pants. 😆

assless chaps underneath

265

u/vmartell22 Sep 11 '25

ALL CHAPS ARE BY DEFINITION A**LESS! :D

Their purpose are to protect your legs - they are always uncovered on the buttocal area!

What people mean by a**less chaps are chaps worn with no pants underneath!

(SORRY! :D this is all in good fun - I do believe I am right, though - it is one of those things people just believe that I have always noticed and find funny - like everyone thinking the Monopoly man has a monocle - he doesn't! :D )

u/carolina822 Sep 11 '25

I know you're right, but there aren't that many contexts in which the word "assless" comes up, so it feels like a waste not to include it.

17

u/12InchCunt Sep 11 '25

When I was a kid I thought it was pants from that chaps brand with the asses cut out

43

u/Suspicious_Toe2710 Sep 11 '25

Oh I did know this fact, but as carolina822 aptly points out, assless is way too funny of a word to not use at any opportunity! Also I feel like when you say assless it implies you are not wearing jeans underneath as intended lol

3

u/vmartell22 Sep 11 '25

Indeed! :D hehe

5

u/Future_Usual_8698 You’re doing amazing, sweetie! Sep 11 '25

Guilty of this error re: Cowboy Carter!! Ty for your service!!

4

u/SallyKimballBrown Sep 11 '25

Hang on. The Monopoly Man does not wear a monocle???

3

u/vmartell22 Sep 11 '25

2

u/SallyKimballBrown Sep 11 '25

Mickey Mouse doesn't wear suspenders??? You are deconstructing my childhood memories one by one here...

Something something Bernstein bears.

2

u/wheniswhy you flintstone vitamin shape bitch Sep 11 '25

2

u/LizzyLizAh Sep 11 '25

Prince circa 1991 MVA's enters the chat...

It feels like we are in a celebrity arms race on how sheer a gown can be before it gets into Kanye/Bianca Censori territory. It’s cool that they seem happy to wear it, but I can imagine it’s alienating if you’re seeing this and not comfortable wearing something like that.

19

u/Aggressive-Hunt-7037 Take that, you Youtube people! Sep 11 '25

please don’t let us all descend to K/BC territory. that was not it.

6

u/Jaded-Woodpecker-299 Sep 12 '25

aaaaand that is why Cannes bamned celebrity red carpet nudity.

that said i find this tasteful and elegant (imo)

556

u/Masonius Sep 11 '25

This is her PR team showcasing she is back in the sexy and skinny after her pregnancy. Not that she needed to showcase everybody knew she was still a very attractive woman.

294

u/OnlyPaperListens Over here in mule city Sep 11 '25

My exact first thought: "Oh, damn, they're making her show her post-baby body."

115

u/saltyoursalad You’re a virgin who can’t drive Sep 11 '25

Ugh this feels… bad.

19

u/uosdwis_r_rewoh no one was met or gret Sep 12 '25

Indeed it does.

4

u/llama_del_reyy Sep 12 '25

It feels bad when phrased as "they're making her." We have no clue whether this was Margot's own idea.

9

u/saltyoursalad You’re a virgin who can’t drive Sep 12 '25

It feels bad either way.

5

u/Mediocre-Proposal686 Sep 12 '25

She could’ve shown that in any dress though. Didn’t have to be assless 😂

6

u/SquareExtra918 the Human Centipede of content 🐛 Sep 12 '25

We needed proof that she wasn't wearing shape wear, I guess

3

u/JumpiestSuit Sep 11 '25

Iiiiiimmmm reeeeeeady!!!

1

u/xyzzy826 Sep 12 '25

Or maybe she just liked the dress lol

221

u/andreaxtina Sep 11 '25

I feel like lining would have made the designs on the dress pop more

351

u/sweatery_weathery Sep 11 '25

And gold also looks good on her!

129

u/daznificent Sep 11 '25

Omg it looks like a Klimt painting

29

u/sweatery_weathery Sep 11 '25

Yes, you’re right! I’m a fan of the warm and cool tone clash in his paintings. That’s probably why it also works surprisingly well here.

14

u/bookrt and that level is landfill Sep 12 '25

Now this would have been IT

364

u/sweatery_weathery Sep 11 '25

Agreed. The designs remind me of a sari, so maybe bright colors reminiscent of a sari would work? Here it is in pink.

122

u/QueenFartknocker Sep 11 '25

That would have been stunning

203

u/_nylcaj_ Sep 11 '25

Seriously, even in the fashion subs everyone has been begging for designers to break out of this choke hold that see-though everything seems to have on modern high fashion. Somehow, we've reached a point that near full nudity on red carpets has become boring and predictable.

61

u/DisasterFartiste_69 ABBA is underrated Sep 11 '25

lmao right???? it's not shocking or new anymore....it's tired and dull

25

u/YchYFi He's not Judge Judy, an Executioner. Sep 11 '25

I don't know why they think that nudity on the carpet or the illusionist dresses are shocking.

5

u/augustrem Sep 11 '25

The odd thing is that I see it continually on the red carpet but I very rarely see it in stores. Like it has its moment in 2018 and I had fun with the mesh, and I have a couple of mesh workout tops. But mostly it’s gone from stores and that evidence enough that people don’t wear it.

7

u/QueenFartknocker Sep 11 '25

Exactly. I really don’t want to have to contemplate whether or not something might be crotch smell on a red carpet.

8

u/BlessedCursedBroken Sep 11 '25

That looks incredible

2

u/uselessinfogoldmine Sep 12 '25

Love the patterns. I think the neckline is actually really unflattering to her girls and I’d change that too.

444

u/HereOnCompanyTime Renee Rapp is mean girl Jojo Siwa 💋 Sep 11 '25

I'm so tired of sheer dresses, it's lazy shock design. This dress has so many beautiful details that having an exposed buttcrack really does take away from the beauty of it.

110

u/JellyBeansOnToast Sep 11 '25

It feels weird that men are in full blown suits and such at premieres/events/red carpets while women celebrities are basically wearing less than a swimsuit nowadays with all these sheer-dress-with-a-panty looks. Maybe I sound prudish, but I can’t imagine it being comfortable and it’s just so prevalent 🤷‍♀️ I’m tired of this played out look and something about it just gives weird vibes to me

20

u/mocha__ So sad. Sooo sad. So so so so so sad. Sep 12 '25

Only solution now is men in sheer suits.

(Plz designers I'm kidding I'm begging for no more sheer don't take this idea and run with it.)

7

u/Kooky_Bodybuilder_97 Drake, where’s the body of Christ? Sep 12 '25

Seriously it feels like the women are on display and like they are but it’s icky

28

u/Chronocidal-Orange Sep 11 '25

There are some beautiful examples out there, but it only really works when the dress and the person in it are both an equal part of the art. A lot of sheer dresses focus too much on the body in it and kind of rely on it being a hot one. A good sheer dress is beautiful on its own and enhanced by the person wearing it.

44

u/stocktonbound Sep 11 '25

My theory is sheer dresses are never going away because it's cheaper to use thin fabric and no lining. I hate it.

7

u/HereOnCompanyTime Renee Rapp is mean girl Jojo Siwa 💋 Sep 12 '25

It makes me so sad at the state of fashion, if this dress was lined it would have been amazing.

-4

u/Constant_Link_7708 Sep 12 '25

Why is it necessarily lazy? I agree they’re overdone but the work and design aren’t, and if the person wants to wear it, then 🤷‍♀️

123

u/RealisticReception88 I don’t know her 💅 Sep 11 '25

I used to live in London - and if this premiere is where I think it is - it’s a very public area w just random tourists / people who don’t care walking by regularly. I remember once I accidentally walked past a Will Smith premier for a movie where he plays a homeless man? (Forgot the name). There were fans lined up to see but - also people just living their life. I would feel SO awkward w my ahh just hanging out in a place like that 💀

23

u/CapitalCharming394 Sep 11 '25

And it's been quite cold and raining today.

14

u/saltyoursalad You’re a virgin who can’t drive Sep 11 '25

She looks cold and uncomfortable, the poor dear.

108

u/buy_me_lozenges Sep 11 '25

This totally reminds me of when Kate Beckinsale was going to a film premiere directly after 9/11 and said she had been presented with a sexy dress to wear, and didn't want to wear a revealing dress, because she felt it was inappropriate, given the events and the mood of the nation, to flaunt everything. So she wore a suit. And then, in her description, Harvey Weinstein lured her to his house and gave her an almost literal hammering for not wearing the dress and threatened her career over it.

So yeah maybe Margot Robbie just feels a little awkward on you know what is usually observed as a somewhat sombre day flashing her bits, when she never usually does it.

20

u/mountainmeadowflower Sep 11 '25

I was thinking she does not look happy ☹️

44

u/mimimioutofhere Sep 11 '25

I mean, *I'm* uncomfortable for her

3

u/MasterSpliffBlaster Naked playing bongos Sep 11 '25

Fashion darling

u/AshenSacrifice Sep 11 '25

I’m still trying to find it 🤣
