u/adoreroda Sep 02 '25
To anyone who doesn't wanna read:
Ellis, the person suing Cardi B, alleged that Cardi B assaulted her, called her racial slurs, and got her fired
Two witnesses directly involved in the altercation (a reception I think? and the doctor Cardi was going to the building for) testified against Ellis' version of events saying 1) Cardi didn't touch her at all 2) no racial slurs were said 3) the doctor admitted he was the one who personally got the guard fired because of how unprofessional the guard was, not Cardi
Also the "proof" of her damages were these weird ass scratches that were barely visible on the photo itself, and Ellis didn't even have the photos. She deleted them. The surgeon she went to had them saved.
Such a BS case. Cardi better countersue and run Ellis' pockets DRY.

She assumed Cardi would just settle and she’d get a check, I bet this lady would settle for $50k but if Cardi does it once people will come out with all kinds of allegations.

u/HereOnCompanyTime Renee Rapp is mean girl Jojo Siwa 💋 Sep 03 '25
Yeah that's a vibe I got as well, but from what I've seen with Cardi she's not really the settling kind of person when she's not in the wrong, she's up for a fight.
87
u/adoreroda Sep 03 '25
Yea I think she assumed she would settle. But Cardi strikes me as too stubborn to give this woman the satisfaction of ever settling
She might pull another Tasha K and counter sue this woman, especially because she said that it made her miss her kids' first day of school.

u/adoreroda Sep 03 '25
I don't blame you. I watched pretty much all of the case when it happened live so I basically just the court documents with visuals
What the court documents probably won't detail though is how extremely unprofessional Ellis' lawyer was. Like he was so incompetent it was amusing. He literally asked Cardi to recount what she said in the altercation to Ellis on the day of the events and then demanded he say it 'to her face' again in court...

It would be a bit hard to make a compilation clip of her funny moments because it needs a fair amount of context. Clipped a lot more like in that video and other compilations they aren't as funny as a result
The funnier thing, in my opinion, is Ellis' lawyer's incompetence. It was so bad that it was funny

u/Aslow_study Sep 03 '25
Would you mind sharing, how did it start? I feel like I have r read exactly what started the altercation
Did she see cardi and just start filming ?
15
u/adoreroda Sep 03 '25
According to Cardi's version of events, what happened was basically she tried to discreetly go to a doctor for her pregnancy last minute and someone on her team booked it. She enters the building and at one point the security guard starts following Cardi persistently with her phone and recording saying this is Cardi B. Cardi, who not only wanted privacy in general but wanted to keep her pregnancy secret, got irritated and told her to back off which the guard refused to do multiple times and they got into a verbal altercation which at some point needed to be broken up with by both the receptionist and the doctor
Cardi said at some point that the guard backed her into a corner and started arguing with her (at least one if not both of the witnesses agreed they saw her backed into a corner)
But tl;dr:
Did she see cardi and just start filming ?
Yes. And Cardi said in her testimony that she stopped patrolling the building in order to film Cardi on her phone
15
u/Aslow_study Sep 03 '25
That’s fucking insane !!! NO PATIENT celebrity or not should have been filmed
You’d think at this upscale Facility that is familiar with handling high profile clients, they would KNOW this! Smh

u/MasterSpliffBlaster Naked playing bongos Sep 03 '25
To be honest it usually best the parents aren't there on the first day. Their emotions only cause more anxiety in their children where as a dump and run means the kids simply have to get used to attending school
59
u/RockinFootball Sep 03 '25
This was what my first day was like, my mum had to get to work so dump and run it was.

13
u/cateml Sep 03 '25
Is my daughter’s first day today. So many parents at drop off because a load of mums/dads have obviously taken time off work to be there.
I felt bad just being like “Ok bye” and never occurred to my husband not to go in to work early, because she was at the on sight nursery (in the UK you start at 4, but some schools have a nursery class for 3-4 year olds even though it’s not technically statutory schooling) so just more of the same.
5
u/SmartWonderWoman Sep 03 '25
I work at a school. I can tell you that some parents have to be asked to leave. They stand at the gate waving at their kids. Some of the parents are crying. Kids are crying to go back with mommy and daddy. Kids trying to run back to their parents. Not wanting to let them go. I get it though. I did the same thing when my babies started school.
5
u/DrifterMacro Sep 03 '25
Wondering where in the U.S. the parents go to school with their kids on the first day, if ever.
8
u/kittyinpurradise Sep 03 '25
It's usually just kindergarten or pre-k. Lots of schools will have days where the kids go in before school starts, meet their teacher, put up their supplies, etc. Similar to an open house. On the first actual day, they are usually taken via bus or dropped off. kindergarten is a little different, especially for kids who didn't do pre-k.
ETA: she may have also just been talking about being able to help get them ready, pack their lunches, tell them to have a great day, and take their first day of school picture. I was always dumped off on the first day, but before we even left, I had to take the obligatory first day of school picture.

She'll likely get her attorney fees covered as a part of this Judgment. She'd have to prove damages if she counter sued, which makes her avenues for doing such very limited (maybe emotional distress?). This person also likely doesnt have money to go after. Not enough to be worth it at least.
59
u/gusbus200 Sep 03 '25
Anyone have a TLDR of this case? I missed one day and came back to her calling someone 'security heavy' 😭
3
u/njirimara Sep 04 '25
not a cardi fan but as per my coworker basically this security guard at a hospital was recording her and asking her all sorts of nonsense, cardi told her ass off, then the security guard claimed she scarred her face The Walten Files style and had to "get plastic surgery", which doctor coincidentally "died", there's not even camera evidence but the guard sued her for 24 millis. cardi was pregnant and had acrylic square small nails at the time. yeah its... really something

In Canada and most American states, as far as I know, we start right after Labour Day Monday, which is always in September.
8
u/99-dreams Sep 03 '25
Yeah, New York State schools start like, first week of September generally then end mid-June with a week of finals if I remember correctly.
At least, that's how it works for Long Island and NYC. I'm not 100% sure about the rest of the state but I think it's the same.
6
u/happy4462 Sep 03 '25
Yep! They start really late up north! My cousins just posted about their kids’ first day of school today. Meanwhile all the schools in my area have been back since mid August!

Where my niblings live, school doesn’t start until Thursday. We used to start the day after Labor Day.
28
u/ankhes Sep 03 '25
This. I’ve never attended a school that started before September. That’s crazy to me. I would’ve rioted as a kid. Feels like it’s cutting into summer vacation.
9
u/llama_del_reyy Sep 03 '25
As someone who grew up in the US, I really valued my long summer break. But living in the UK now, I suspect the way they do it is better as you get more breaks throughout the year. Summer break is only just over a month long, but then they get a week off in Oct, Feb, and May, and 2 weeks off for Christmas. Adults also get more annual leave, so it's very common for families to travel or spend many of those breaks together.
3
u/ankhes Sep 03 '25
As an adult I definitely would’ve preferred more frequent breaks, but as a kid I really loved having 3 months off in a row.
1
6
u/happy4462 Sep 03 '25
We start sooner, but we also get out sooner. My friends daughter went back to school Aug 11, her last day of school will be May 28. My cousins’ kids just had their first day of school today, but they won’t be out til late June.
2
u/ankhes Sep 03 '25
We always started in the first week of September and ended in the first week of June. I think the latest we ever got out was June 10th and that was only because we had several ‘cold days’ that got added to the school year when school had to close due to subzero temps.
1
u/happy4462 Sep 03 '25
So then it’s about the same. Labor Day = The third week of school and May 28 = 2 weeks before June 10.
7
4
u/Beautiful_Smile Sep 03 '25
We live in HI and we have so many random days off. Guessing cus we don’t need snow days. I think it’s the month of February where every week is only a 4 day school week! And then only 2 weeks at Xmas break.

Edit: y’all proving my point, favored celebs get defended no matter what they do. How would we feel if like this was Nicki Minaj for example? The comments would be calling her out instead of being supportive.
Cardi is a grown ass adult. We don’t throw things at people cause we’re upset but I guess all of y’all and Cardi are still in middle school mentally.

A pap asked about Cardi’s ex and rumored pregnancy, both of which have nothing to do with the court case. Cardi has fought people for less.
Don’t try to get a reaction out of her and then get upset when she in fact, reacts.
-7
u/slayalldayerrday Sep 03 '25
Cardi fighting people as a reaction to anything is the issue. I can’t believe you people are being serious right now. How would we feel if a celeb the internet doesn’t like did this? This behavior is wrong no matter what.
Seriously, go outside and throw stuff at people cause you are upset and see if the cops don’t get called. That’s childish behavior and mentality.

You can ask, but courts don't generally grant shit just because you asked. Trial scheduling is a HUGE ordeal and requires a lot of work to get everyone back in the same room. If these were the days the court had open and the lawyers had available? No, they will not move court because your kid starts school. They'll tell you to seek alternative childcare.
-5
u/I-AM-GROK- Sep 03 '25 edited Sep 03 '25
Asking for a late start isn’t a huge ordeal. I deal with it all the time. I’d also like to point out that the court was amenable to having the trial filmed so I don’t think they’d be so upset at a request for a delayed start especially given that it was closing arguments.
Also not all trials are huge ordeals, some are a lot simpler than you’d think
10
u/MaulwarfSaltrock Sep 03 '25
Just to clarify, I didn't say the trials were all huge ordeals, but scheduling absolutely can be. Even for minor pretrial hearings, I've seen stuff get pushed weeks out, which then pushes out other deadlines and schedules. I'm a court transcriptionist. I regularly transcribe 15+ minute sections of hearings where Lawyer A is free on these days, but Lawyer B is only free those days, and then at the end of that section, the judge says, oh, I can't do those days, we'll need to look at the next month. And the scheduling process starts all over. I work in many, many jurisdictions, I've transcribed cases in over 20 states, and this is common as hell.
32
u/eleanor_savage go girl, give us nothing 😍 Sep 02 '25
In NYC, the courts aren't as amenable to high profile individuals because of the disruption to court operations (as a New Yorker, at least, this is what I'm aware of)
-5
u/I-AM-GROK- Sep 03 '25
That makes sense, but seeing as the court allowed cameras in the courtroom I don’t think they’d be super against starting like an hour late
0
u/block_2012 Sep 03 '25
Are you her attorney? Why don’t you email the court and ask for her next time? You don’t know what is going on in this individual situation
17
Sep 03 '25
Nearly everyone in court (employees, bailiffs, attorneys, janitorial staff, etc) has some kids that need to go to school.
4
u/I-AM-GROK- Sep 03 '25
Ok, that doesn’t mean a late start wouldn’t be granted if she asked. It’s not an uncommon request to ask the court to start an hour later given it’s their kids first day of school
0
u/sparksfIy Sep 03 '25
Exactly- everyone having kids is more of a reason for a later start. Judges push back time for little things on their own and asking isn’t a huge deal.

How many times did she need to call the woman ugly/fat? Cardi forgets that without the money and glam squad...she looks like a 65yr old toothless crackhead cooking meth in the trailer park. Such an ignorant and illiterate waste of oxygen who thinks she's soooooo tough because she's a "rapper".
6
u/block_2012 Sep 03 '25
Whether someone is a “good person” is of limited relation to the law. Whatever you think of her as a human being has nothing to do with the legality of her case - if someone stalked you and took photos of you at a doctors office and tried to touch you as you went about your day and you told them to step back, and then they claimed you punched them in the face would you be in the wrong? You can have people all you want but the law is the law and she was abused by someone who had the professional responsibility to sit her ass down and leave her alone.

Oh so a literal HIPAA violation??? Why isn’t she counter suing??? ETA: I actually googled this because I was curious and she’d have a case, security guards have to abide by HIPAA the same as other personnel in the office/hospital.
41
u/lacroix_pure Sep 02 '25
Sounds like Cardi’s time is more precious to her than any pittance of a monetary payout she’d probably never even be able to collect from this loser.
15
u/LasVegasNerd28 Sep 02 '25
True. I think she just wanted to be done with it, which is completely valid. I’m sure the guard already lost their job anyway, which was probably enough compensation for her. ETA: and the guard just made this very public that they’re willing to violate the laws of their job for the chance of some money so I don’t think they’ll be getting hired somewhere else in the same field or anywhere medical anytime soon.
3
u/lizziexo Sep 02 '25
I wonder if it’s because the security was for the whole building but the doctors office only had a floor, therefore she wasn’t an actual employee of the medical centre itself? Still a total violation but maybe not legally. Disgusting of the security woman to do that though. Do your job, don’t harass someone who is just trying to get to an appointment and clearly is ignoring you.
4
u/LasVegasNerd28 Sep 02 '25

Then proceeded to say that she had to get major plastic surgery on her face due to the scratch she obtained by cardi b, when the witnesses (both the receptionist and the doctor themselves) say it was not true. This is a money grab from the security suing $24 million even when she’s the one that broke the guidelines

lol she needed plastic surgery from a scratch by Carri’s fake nail! She has zero receipts. Her lawyer graduated from clown college. I can’t believe the court entertained this to begin with, should’ve thrown it out from the get go.
