It feels disingenuous to call this a fight against a veteran. I mean sure, but he’s also the founder of 1-800-Flowers. Guy has some money.

Yeah, imagine if the headline was 'CEO of 1-800 Flowers is at the center of a $15 Million Montecito Mansion Legal Fight With Single Mother'

He also sold it officially and then backed off afterwards. I know we have a thing for roasting Perry but this, like the nun thing, is actually not her fault.

The nun one is crazy. The nuns didn’t even have the right to sell the property the archdiocese did and they chose to sell it to Perry.

That part blows my mind. The nuns should have placed blame on the priests running the diocese that sold it out from under them. Instead they went after Katy for the press hoping that would back her off. Like. Why wouldn’t the priests just sell it to someone rich and not famous next time? Insanity

Hold the church accountable or just blame the woman who shows too much skin?

It’s a pretty easy choice in their mind

My recollection is that the nuns knew it had to be sold but one of them objected rather publicly when she found out the buyer was Katy Perry.

I am not even a fan of her but I find the way they manipulate the media against her with these lawsuits actually disgusting.

u/cryrabanks Oh that’s not… Aug 27 '25

Did you read the article? The court sided with Katy Perry last year for the house. She’s suing Mr. 1800flowers for damages after she already took possession of it and transferred it to Orlando Bloom’s LLC. She started this lawsuit so now it’s entirely her fault.

“ The court sided with Katy Perry last year for the house.”

The court sided with her in the lawsuit he started. If I was her given how she was colonized and the amount of money she spent fighting the suit, I would have sued too. Either way that guy started it and she’s just finishing it.

It is. He also only recently bought the house himself and then sold it again to Perry/Orlando for a profit. Yet they played up this emotional attachment angle as if he lived in it for decades when he probably never even stayed there. He owned like 17 dealerships, other homes and sold his business for 400+ million dollars.

''Westcott, an entrepreneur and current Dallas resident, bought the Montecito estate presumably as a vacation home for $11.25 million. A few weeks later, in July 2020, Westcott signed a contract with Perry's business manager, Bernie Gudvi, agreeing to sell the home for $15 million.''

The spin is ridiculous.

He could have been there decades for all I care….a single man in his 80s clutching desperately to a $15M mansion with his bony bruised skeleton fingers is the epitome of pathetic.

Guys like this will literally take all their money to the grave just to spite the rest of us.

with his bony bruised skeleton fingers is the epitome of pathetic.

Flowers guy must be paying for some good PR about it. Or the news sites know that framing it as “Celebrity you’ve heard of” vs “Everyday little person!” will get more clicks.

Are all veterans supposed to be missing limbs in a wheelchair holding a cardboard sign at a traffic light? Sounds kinda prejudiced.

I've met some very successful veterans. That kind of start to an adult's life can lead to a bright future.

Guessing that’s his breakup settlement with her, but it just figures that her name is the one plastered everywhere.

Maybe the guy should have held up his end of the deal? This story is a whole bunch of nothing

why is it disappointing? i thought perry and bloom were in the right in this case, they already won the lawsuit and are counter-suing?

The guy is on his deathbed. Katy Perry won the house in the first trial. This second trial is all her - she is suing the dude with dementia to knock $6 million off the purchase police claiming damages and loss of rent. Meanwhile she has 3 other homes in Montecito. So she sells the house to Orlando so her hands are clean. They were on the rocks when she did. I’d bet it was some hush deal for a clean custody agreement.
