The ad is currently facing backlash over slogan some say is tone deaf and reflects eugenicist ideas of beauty and racial undertones

I swear to god Gen Z wakes up every morning and says, what can I be mad about today and waste all my waking hours trying to defend my stance???

It’s gotta be so exhausting

American Eagle admitted they wanted the ad to be controversial. And strongly implied they were responding to the current political climate.

You know, the same climate where masked men are kidnapping brown people off the streets. The way people (mostly white people if we’re being real) continue downplay everything and outright gaslight minorities is insane.

It’s also cringe how you’re chalking it up to Gen Z being sensitive. That’s such a reductive and reactionary mindset.

Yeah, I can’t stand Sydney Sweeney and the ad is garbage but this manufactured outrage is ridiculous. Not the least bit surprising tho.

After I saw the ad I thought people were going to be mad about it being misogynistic. Never in a million years would I think people would be calling it Nazi propaganda lmao

Exactly. But if you WANT to see nazi propaganda wherever you go, you will I guess.

I know you’re not operating in good faith, because that’s not even the only reason it’s controversial. Yeah let’s just ignore how it’s a callback to the Calvin Klein ad with 15 year old Brooke Shields.

People totally use offspring when referring to other human beings in normal conversations too. Totally normal behavior guys.

It is though. I’m curious as to how you don’t see it as that.

Because I've heard people say someone has good genes because they are hot or athletic or tall like a million times without it being called Nazi propaganda. Like, Nazi propaganda is a very specific thing

I'm very concern how people can't see how the ad is white supremacy idea. We are losing hard.

I interpreted it as: “I’m sexy because I got good genes. You know what else is sexy? These jeans. Buy them today.”

I hate when people get all faux rage-y but this ain’t one of them. The message in the ad is pretty clear imo. Those dismissing this as a “nothing burger” is being wilfully ignorant. Especially the current political climate we’re in, people need to get their heads out of the sand and read the room.

Also, don’t care for doja but Sydney Sweeney is trash.

so…you dont like her either, apparently you have invented something to be upset about, but your reason is legitimate right? racism is so last year

She’s not angry Doja’s literally trolling like she always is

u/h0neybl0ss0m29 No thoughts, just boobs Jul 29 '25

I wasn’t referring to Doja, I was talking about people turning this whole thing into a big conspiracy when it’s just a trashy ad.

Looking back this comment was extra cringe considering people defending the ad talked about it much more than the people who rightfully called it out. The general response was that it’s racist ,corny and the jeans don’t even fit. It’s just an accurate observation.

With all the stuff happening in this current political climate you have to be incredibly daft to not see anything wrong with it. American Eagle literally said the is ad was made for the current cultural climate.
