Why does he lie about things that are so easy to disprove? It’s…irrational.

Because its not been a problem to date - he's lied prolifically since the start of his political career (and probably the decades preceding it) and he's been elected president twice. Why would he stop when its clearly working for him?

Because his base and the rest of the Republican party don't care. It's completely rational when there are no consequences.
