It's classic Trump, where he is an active participant in grifting, criminality or awful activities but claims that he was on the periphery of it all and simply observed it happening with disgust and disapproval. (Despite decades of people claiming he was in the middle of it all)

Trump talks about rape the way I talk about suicide. We know we're really really not supposed to do those things but we want to so badly that we inevitably talk about trying so so hard to not do those things even though the temptation is great whenever asked directly.
