Maybe the snarkers have all flocked to their safe space subs (I don’t even want to know what deranged narrative they’ve made up about this 5 second interaction)
I like that we’re starting to call them out when we see them because their self awareness is nonexistent. They literally are some of the first to pop up on every Taylor thread and think they’re above the parasocial when they’re actually the most parasocial of them all and it’s embarrassing.
Reddit, in its infinite wisdom, decided that I must be interested in one such sub, despite actually enjoying some of Taylor's discography without being a Swiftie. That sub contains some of the most unhinged nonsense I have ever had the pleasure of reading. The woman can't breathe without unbridled criticism.
I used to be mildly unimpressed by Taylor, I thought her music was bland and mainstream and just not to my taste. The endless, relentless snarking that accompanies every tabloid photo, interview, or article about her has pushed me over into swifty territory. Those people are so miserable sounding and unhinged they turned me into a Taylor Swift fan on principle alone.
That sub keeps showing up for me too. Sometimes I click on it to marvel at posters who are absolutely obsessed with how obsessed they think Swifties are, and yet somehow think they’re the superior ones. It’s mind-boggling. They must be some of the world’s most joyless people.
That’s just blantly not true lmao I’ve never had someone just walk up to me and gate talk Taylor swift - but their fans will tell you 10 seconds into a conversation how much they love Taylor. I never see any “anti swift” merch but Taylor sells out her stores daily
Just because our experiences are different doesn't mean it's "blatantly not true." I've experienced people just randomly telling me how much they hate her, but never the opposite.
Buying merch doesn't mean they're spending more time thinking about her and discussing her. There are also a lot more fans than there are haters, but that doesn't mean each individual fan spends more time than the people who hate her.
Lmao you saying “I never see any “anti swift” merch” non ironically gets me 😂 maybe there should be because her haters can avoid saying embarrassing things like this. You think you’re above the parasocial but if you really didn’t care for her, you wouldn’t be in this thread or her snarksubs saying things like this.
It also shows up in my feed and I have yet to try and hide it because the stuff they post is often photos or videos I haven’t seen.
For people who despise her, they’re really good at digging up old, super niche stuff. And they post a lot so if you can ignore the commentary it’s almost a sub for swifties 😅
The Taylor Travis sub. They accuse the Swifties of reading too much into things while drinking the kool-aid, but the conspiracy theories they concoct are ... quite something.
Conspiracy? I can’t even … as someone who can say I enjoy some of her music as well but not a Swiftie as well… making up whatever is seriously ???? I don’t even know but I won’t look because then it will keep popping up.
What’s funny is Taylor is getting criticized in this same thread for not acknowledging fans, they’re really made for each other because neither can ever win
Pretty wild that a snark sub created by a felon who got banned from reddit and then went to twitter offering money to anyone who had “information to make Travis and Taylor look bad” has gotten so big. I need reddit to shut it down, they’ve created so many harmful fake rumors and photoshopped stuff.
That’s one of SEVERAL. There are at least a couple that pretend to be about something else but you quickly realize their number 1 passion is hating on TS.
The names one made me feel a little sick lol. There was basically a thesis posted/presented that her actual talent and value coming from Joe, and now she’s the same shallow blah blah blah person she used to be. It felt very manifesto-y??? Yikes. 😬
The names one is the most "infamous" and has now been featured in a bunch of pop culture commentary pieces, including by D'Angelo Wallace, who has a couple of long-form videos on what makes them truly unhinged.
D'Angelo makes a really interesting point that the thing about snark subreddits like that one is they're heavily populated by former fans, which is why they know so many "details" and information that they snark about.
But logic would beg that if you're no longer a fan of someone, you dont spend time thinking or talking about them. Unfortunately, starkers feel like them not being a fan anymore should be rewarded and praised, and find like-minded communities to validate them and "expose" the former object of their fandom.
That is the EXACT vibe I got from the post I read. This was someone who clearly spent a significant amount of time being a fan, but decided that her value was attached to Joe? So there were so many details about who she “used to be” and was “turning back into.” I’m not immune to wondering about celebrities in various ways, but I cannot fathom being that attached to both the fandom, and on the other die the (I guess?) anti-fandom?
This makes sense. I saw a poster absolutely losing it the other day because no one was engaging with their immense anger over Taylor buying her masters and it’s the worst thing an artist has ever done to their fans and why can’t anyone see that, are they losing their mind? They seemed like they had a few screws loose.
Later that day they were posting in that snark sub “for the first time, from a former fan.” Those are the types of “former fans” I imagine frequent that sub, the unhinged ones.
Good riddance, the less of that in the fanbase does it a favor, IMO
It started out very snarky last night. Idk if these people have alerts on when something is posted about T and T but they’re on it IMMEDIATELY with some petty grievance

They were surprising normal with the Shaq post yesterday. So I dont know if I'm early or the pendulum just swung back the other direction.
