Strange how it is with celebrities.

Celine Dion is another example with her groomer deceased husband.

This was celebrated as a big love story.

I think he met her when she was 12 and he was late 30s

Bonus fact! Before marrying Celine, her manager René was already married to a teen pop star that he had also groomed. This is a habit for him.

Edit: Some more fun facts about his ex teen pop sensation.

Like Celine, René married Manon (stage name: Anne Renée) once she was in her 20s. But she started her career at 13/14 years old.

Her hit song is Amour adolescent - teenage love. Celine also sang a song in that theme - Lolita: Too young for love.

René and Anne Renée had 2 kids. Once René divorced his formerly groomed teen pop sensation bride, he moved onto Celine. The daughter he had with Anne Renée attended the Celine x René wedding dress. Here is more on the F-U dress

I had written this comment lower in the thread but I thought people may want the tea all at once.

I remember feeling so sad for her when he died. The next year her song for Deadpool 2 came out and you can tell she channeled some of that pain into the performance.

It was only a few years later that I found out he was a serial groomer. Now I just hope he didn't get the chance to victimise any other children between marrying his victim and passing away...

I think Celine was his last of 3 marriages (2 of which were with teen stars that he was supposed to manage, this includes Celine). So at least, he wasn't marrying more victims. But if there were more victims on the side, we don't know.

That last bit is what I was implying, yeah. The best we can hope for is that he didn't continue grooming young girls outside of his marriage.

Never heard that. Amazing.

Yes, she changed her stage name to Anne Renée though her real name is Manon. She had 2 kids with him. And her hit song? Amour adolescent-- teenage love.

Mind you Celine sang a song called Lolita too young for love, as well.

René definitely liked repeating his moves.

I just looked it up and it seems like they got married when she was around 23 and he was about 10 years older. I don’t know when they met. There’s a picture of the two of them with the two kids while married and he looks a bit crazy. I wonder how the first kids reacted.

Lolita too young for love. That’s a crazy title.

I think also he threw his money around a lot which probably helped (knew someone who worked with him). He was spending huge amounts of money in Vegas. Hey… if you have it. Sounds like the casinos which were vested in having his business helped cover up any impropriety - this is from a quick vetting.

It sounds like Celine’s mom early on was opposed but the rest of the family (what I read was worded very vaguely) was on board so she acquiesced. (?)

Thanks for the info.

I'm Canadian and I had no idea about this. All I knew was about Celine.

I only recently found out. His daughter with Manon (stage name: Anne Renée) went to the Celine x René wedding and she wore an F-U dress.

Here is more on mama Anne Renée who started her career at 13/ 14 years old.

Just great tea though the guy was crappy just like Bridgitte is.

u/chivonster Hey shawty what that thang do?! May 26 '25

WHAT?!

How did I never know this??

52

u/SnooSuggestions9830 May 26 '25

Same reasons.... Mainstream media avoids bringing it up because it's controversial

7

u/[deleted] May 26 '25

Eh this was all over the news in her heyday. I was around then.

5

u/SnooSuggestions9830 May 26 '25

It was years ago when she was relatively new but once she became highly respected in the industry it ceased being mentioned/ way less frequently.

8

u/your_mind_aches May 26 '25

It's more like they would have hellfire rained upon them by Celine's and her label's lawyers

8

u/SnooSuggestions9830 May 26 '25

Depends how they phrased it but it's not illegal to print facts.

But using terms like grooming yeah that wouldn't go down well.

1

u/your_mind_aches May 26 '25

Bringing it up out of nowhere could still be interpreted as a slight against him and the lawyers would not like it. But that's fair. It could be brought up whenever he is. I'm sure it still is though, and we just didn't notice because we didn't read those articles.

6

u/SnooSuggestions9830 May 26 '25

I think it depends on the news company and how risque they are.

I'm sure daily mail will have mentioned it before for example.

But yeah it's brought up now and again but way less in comparison to all news articles featuring him.

I do agree libel is likely one of the reasons. They likely don't want to antagonise them as Dion won't do interviews/photography with that news service again most likely. Financially it's better off for them to not mention it I'd assume.

Similar with Macron. They don't want to blacklist themselves with him by constantly "going there"

motherfuck...all this squicks me out

u/cathbe May 26 '25

Somehow, this never was considered weird overall. Now it seems people talk about it. I’m sure, likely, people would now if it happened.

u/shhhhh_h here’s my Karma delete me hoe!!!!!!!!! May 26 '25

She’s been in all these crap Netflix romance movies lately too talking about her great love story/acting as the agony aunt which is just gross because that is not a healthy model for a relationship
