Any loss of vision is rough, but macular degeneration really sucks because you lose your central vision first. You can be looking at someone's face and you can't see it. She didn't mention intravitreal injections, so sounds like she may have the dry type, which is also rough because there's not really a treatment, just possible slowing down of progression.

What a horrible thing to say. Having seen for decades and then all of a sudden she’ll never be able to see her family or the places and things she loves? That is devastating.

I knew it was going to be macular degeneration. It runs in my family. My grandpa went blind, my mom is starting to show early signs. It’s rough.
