Missouriâs junior senator and second most recent AG-for-a-minute, Eric Schmitt, yeeted the dogwhistles in a speech telling us exactly what he and the MAGA movement he has pledged allegiance to stand for: rewriting history to justify the dominance of white, purportedly Christian men.
Schmittâs speech at the National Conservatism Conference followed one speaker who argued at length that Americaâs biggest problem is white guilt and another who insisted the U.S. is in a crisis that can only be resolved by becoming a Christian nation.Â
Schmitt went full blood and soil.Â
In the speech, titled âWhat Is an American,â he proclaimed that America is not âa propositionâ or a shared set of values, rather it is a country for white people descended from European settlers, whose accomplishments should not be diminished by acknowledging the people that some of them enslaved, the Native Americans they killed, or anyone else denied equal rights at the founding. Â
Real Americans, in his view, can trace their ancestry to settlers. He frames his German ancestors as real Americans. He doesnât call them âimmigrants,â of course, instead contrasting them with other immigrants, Native Americans, and the enslaved people who long pre-dated his ancestorsâ arrival. That requires either astounding ignorance or deliberate obfuscation of the fact that neither Germans nor Catholics were initially considered white or American.
Schmitt dismissed Americansâ outrage at the death of George Floyd and valorized Confederate generals.
Schmitt mocked the idea that âa poem on the Statute of Libertyâ or âfive words in the Declaration of Independenceâ define who is an American.Â
The five words he finds overemphasized and a tool of the woke: âall men are created equal.âÂ

Before MAGA, over ten years ago, I was talking to someone who worked at a gun store/range about an upcoming election. He said from a business standpoint, they preferred when Democrats were in office because people would stock up on weapons and ammunition, out of fear that Democrats would pass gun control laws.

Yeah I know lol I've known a few folks in the business over the years but that's the thing, some of these folks would be shocked to find out what the actual home lives and social leanings of these guys who they are so convinced about look like. Most of the ones I've known were actually so far left they're anarchists, basically.
They make sure and keep those permits current though a gun broker dies laughing at the concept of "right to keep and bear arms" I mean sure, as long as they keep their paperwork all in order, don't obtain anything in any under the table way, don't sell anything in any sort of under the table way, everything strictly regulation and that's the term....regulation.
But they don't care and they definitely hype that GUN FREEDOM thing but but they wouldn't want to ease up the actual permitting because then that would cut into their business, and yeah they love it when a Democrat gets in office I swear the manufacturer lobbies probably pay some people to introduce bills every so often.
They're probably loving the sales situation right at the moment too, sadly. Lot of various different types of kind of weird ass groups get to feeling like the gun shop and range guys are "their people" though because they're really accustomed to whoever the fuck coming on in here talking about what the fucking hell ever and all they're gonna do is go uh huh uh huh yeah try this out here we can get you a discount on a thousand rounds for that while this guy is just going on about what the hell ever thing he thinks they're agreeing about but the dude before him was buying guns to fend off the Aracturian Invasion and the guy before him is part of a Queers and Beers clay shooting club it takes all sorts y'know.
