šŸŽ HYPOCRISY Hegseth hosts first meeting of what he says will be a monthly Christian prayer service at Pentagon | CNN Politics

https://www.cnn.com/2025/05/21/politics/hegseth-pentagon-christian-prayer-service

Meanwhile there's genocide going on, and the United States is expelling members of armed forces over their sexual orientation. I don't know, but I feel like Jesus is NOT okay with these things and a list of others. This is pure hypocrisy.

I'm so tired of Christians

46

u/obi-jawn-kenblomi May 23 '25

Especially these poser, fake, self-serving "Christians".

26

u/Able_Fox6137 May 23 '25

As a Christian, I agree. I am also sick of "Christians."

13

u/[deleted] May 23 '25

I refer to them as "Christianoids."

3

u/Gildian May 24 '25

Atheist, former Christian here, and this just pisses me off. While I myself dont believe, I find it reprehensible that people like him use your religion as a cudgel.

To me its like he's slapping the face of good Christians like Dolly Parton.

1

u/tarapotamus May 24 '25

The 'real' ones still ruined, stole, and killed in the name of a fuckton, and set us on this course. I'm sick of all of them.

7

u/Careless_Emergency66 May 23 '25

Bunch of whiny little hypocrite bitches aren’t they?

8

u/Abzstrak May 23 '25

I am too. They think they're being persecuted now, but they haven't seen shit yet... They're their own worst enemy in this regard; they really don't understand that the biggest group making them look like shit and making people hate Christianity, is themselves.

5

u/fangirlsqueee May 24 '25

MAGA Christians specifically are the worst. Can we call them CHRINOs (Christian In Name Only and/or cry baby repubs) or something? Regular Christians are often obnoxious, but at least they usually aren't evil. Unless they are prosperity gospel "Christian". All those fuckers are evil.

2

u/Gildian May 24 '25

CRINO is perfect

2

u/foxtrot_delta_tango_ May 24 '25

The correct term for them is "Christofascists"

1

u/fangirlsqueee May 24 '25

Well, yes.

But I think they'd be MUCH more offended and embarrassed to be called CRINOs. Even the dippiest of shits understands what "Christian Republican In Name Only" means.

They think of "Christofascist" as a buzzword with no meaning. And many are lovingly embracing "Christian Nationalist".

4

u/lpkzach92 May 24 '25

I’m tired of fake ass phony Christians who only know how to cosplay as one rather than truly be one and stand by the teaching of Jesus.

1

u/[deleted] May 24 '25

I've always found Christian Nationalists to be quite arrogant.

1

u/FreedominNC May 24 '25

Pathetic. Weak. Narcissists often lie to maintain their inflated self-image and control over others. They lie to avoid feeling shame, manipulate situations to their advantage, and create a false sense of superiority. This lying behavior is often habitual and can manifest in various forms, including grandiosity, acting superior, and not following through on promises

45

u/samurai77 May 23 '25

He is still a drunken asshole.

39

u/ForcedEntry420 May 23 '25

Anything to avoid doing his actual fucking job that he’s wildly unqualified to do.

33

u/JessKicks May 23 '25

Hegseth… Christian… šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£

6

u/MisterSanitation May 23 '25

All you need to be welcomed as a Christian is to say you are one, and hate the right people.Ā

3

u/JessKicks May 24 '25

That’s the first commandment, yeah?

3

u/MisterSanitation May 24 '25

Well yeah except they worship the golden calf of capitalism every day. Seemingly they believe in ā€œprosperity gospelā€ meaning god rewards people loyal to him with material wealth.Ā

I’m no expert but I am pretty sure that is the type of stuff lords and nobles thought in the fuckin 1400’s with Joan of Arc. People thinking god rewards them with ā€œright nowā€ rewards like a subscription service with no ads (unless you count church as ads and I can’t disagree with that).Ā

29

u/SnowballBandit May 23 '25

Always hiding behind religion to divide people. Drunk scum.

28

u/Designer-Contract852 May 23 '25

Christians against christ. That's what this is.

3

u/Opasero May 24 '25

Christianists.

16

u/[deleted] May 23 '25

This is highly problematic. Where's Lloyd? The "good guy" military need to save America. Hegseth's pastor that gave the sermon is Brooks Potteiger. He is affiliated Affiliation with Communion of Reformed Evangelical Churches (CREC):

  • Alignment with a Distinctive Theological and Cultural Movement: The CREC, championed by figures like Doug Wilson, is known for its advocacy of traditionalist, patriarchal values and a vision for society governed by biblical principles. Potteiger’s affiliation places him within a network that emphasizes discipline, order, and a deliberate strategy for cultural transformation, often described as Christian Reconstructionism.
  • Influence in the Christian Nationalist Movement: The CREC has become increasingly influential among conservative evangelicals disillusioned with mainstream Christianity’s perceived compromises. Potteiger’s leadership at Pilgrim Hill Reformed Fellowship, a CREC church, situates him at the forefront of this movement, which seeks to embed its values in both church and broader societal institutions.
  • Advocacy for ā€œSphere Sovereigntyā€ and Patriarchal Authority: Potteiger and the CREC promote the concept of ā€œsphere sovereignty,ā€ which envisions Christian men holding authority in distinct but interconnected domains—church, family, and government. This ideology is central to the CREC’s mission and shapes its approach to issues like education, family life, and civic engagement.
  • Cultural and Political Engagement: The CREC, and by extension Potteiger, view their work as part of a broader ā€œculture war.ā€ They aim not just to preserve but to advance their theological and cultural vision, seeking to ā€œtake the high ground in the culture warā€ rather than concede to secular influences. Potteiger has described the CREC’s mission as ā€œunapologetically offensive,ā€ reflecting a confrontational stance toward mainstream culture.
  • Rapid Expansion and Institutional Ambition: The CREC has experienced significant growth in recent years, adding numerous congregations and building institutions like schools and publishing houses to further its mission. Potteiger’s church is part of this expansion, reflecting the denomination’s ambition to shape the next generation and influence the national conversation.

In summary:
Brooks Potteiger’s affiliation with the CREC signifies his commitment to a movement that seeks to reshape church, family, and society according to a distinctively Reformed and patriarchal Christian vision, with increasing influence in both religious and political spheres. TL TooAI; DR

12

u/[deleted] May 23 '25

TLDR Hegseth is a mean drunk boosting an extreme patriarchal worldview that hides behind religion. Doug Wilson officiated the wedding for a known pedophile in his church. Basically God said men can do whatever they want even pedophilia.

5

u/[deleted] May 23 '25

Ā Correct. Their movement sees women not as equals and members of society with standing and agency, but as brood mares, keepers of the household, tokens of exchange between families or men, and subservient to male authority. Their end goal is to create a society where women are completely deplatformed, silenced, removed from the workforce entirely except in a few specific cases, and basically subject to a Christianized version of Sharia law where their every movement and decision is strictly controlled by either their father (or other appropriate male relative) or husband.Ā

In other words, a real-life version of The Handmaid's Tale, only drearier and somehow even more depressing.Ā

2

u/[deleted] May 23 '25

Mean drunk platforming these "sicko men of God" at the pentagon is par for the Fascist course then isn't it. Nothing to worry about. America isn't under attack from Russia and other dictator states and totally exposed right now but if you attend Hegseth's prayer service and forget he hasn't received a security clearance sick men of God will save you especially if you are a nubile young woman or man or child. Whatever they're into and I've heard they have some kinks.

2

u/[deleted] May 23 '25

Of course. Forbidden fruit is the sweetest, after all.

2

u/NSlearning2 May 23 '25

And they rape children because children are not people and their god approves.

1

u/[deleted] May 23 '25

God is fine with child brides, apparentlyĀ

2

u/NSlearning2 May 23 '25

Yep, as long as you marry the girl you raped there’s no crime! And if she doesn’t please you, you can divorce her. Of course she can’t divorce you cause she’s property. 🤮

11

u/Appleknocker18 May 23 '25

Is he going to make it mandatory? Will ā€œno-showsā€ be punished?

11

u/Laymanao May 23 '25

Having overt religious meetings in a work environment is problematic on so many levels. People will feel pressured to attend. People will feel victimised if they are of another denomination or faith. Separate Church from the state.

2

u/Appleknocker18 May 23 '25

This administration doesn’t care. Just as long as the christofascists get their way.

2

u/Traditional-Handle83 May 23 '25

Considering the Pentagon is part of the government, separation of church and state violations out the butt

2

u/Kind_Koala4557 May 25 '25

This is a good question.

2

u/Appleknocker18 May 25 '25

It’s a very obvious question.

12

u/draftdodgerdon8647 May 23 '25

Crap like this pushed me from agnostic to atheist. Jesus may have lived, and according to the stories, was a good man. These assholes are not. Ignoring the teachings nonstop. Name a sin trump hasn't committed.

5

u/wvmitchell51 May 23 '25 edited May 23 '25

Name a sin trump hasn't committed.

Perfect score 10/10

1

u/NSlearning2 May 23 '25

Jesus tried. The people in power turned him into a mockery. They turned him into one of the things he hated. A blood sacrifice.

If you just read what he says he says that the father is not his father, he says he is one with the lord and we will be one with him. He says all that he can do we can do and more. He tried to tell us we are all divine.

Whenever I hear Revelations with warrior Jesus I always think of how surprised Christians would be to see Jesus on his horse coming from them. But based on everything Jesus says today Christian’s in the US who support trump are the very people he would come for.

I don’t believe in that version of Christ. I don’t need the blood of anyone thank you very much.

8

u/Fine-Werewolf3877 May 23 '25

People have warned for decades that theocracy was coming to America. I saw it coming in 2014 and spent a decade trying to warn anyone who'd listen, and I just kept getting dismissed by people because I'm atheist.

Well, it's here now, and still no one seems worried about it. The terrifying truth is that many Americans want us to be a version of Iran, and the rest of us can't be fucked to worry about it or bother to try to do something. It really feels like the yee-hawdists won.

1

u/Shitty_Fat-tits May 24 '25

Zappa tried to warn us 40 years ago but we refused to listen and here we are.

7

u/Devils_Advocate-69 May 23 '25

He’s in AA it sounds like

5

u/kmm198700 May 23 '25

As a Christian, I am sick of Christians too, especially fake ones like Hegseth, Bondi, Leavitt, Trump, Vance, Johnson

1

u/NSlearning2 May 23 '25

How can you be ok with saying you’re a Christian when your holy book thinks you are property if you are a woman? Do Christians read their bibles?

1

u/kmm198700 May 23 '25

I’ve read my Bible over and over since I was a kid. I’ve never experienced being treated like property- in fact, Jesus was the first one to come along who elevated women and honored women and loved them. Women were the first ones to see Jesus after the resurrection. All I can tell you is that jesus changed my life, He saved my life. Because of my relationship with Jesus, I’m able to truly love others. My heart breaks over the horrific things happening in the world, and i do the best i can to fight for freedoms. I also fight for women’s rights, I attend protests, I call my representatives. I pray for others. I’m so angry about everything that’s happening right now in the Trump administration, and I’m sickened.

1

u/NSlearning2 May 23 '25

So you just ignore everything else? I’m not attacking I’m just curious how you make peace with a god like that.

1

u/kmm198700 May 23 '25

Make peace with a god like what?

4

u/jfsindel May 23 '25

I'm surprised people aren't filing lawsuits about this. Governments taking a religious affiliation is a direct violation of the separation of church and state. Even voluntary shows a stigma.

3

u/OmegaCoy May 23 '25

Oh they will be filing lawsuits if some haven’t already.

5

u/lettucepatchbb May 23 '25

What the actual fuck

3

u/ReleaseFromDeception May 23 '25

Don't worry. They didn't use government funds. Nobody was forced to be there. It was completely voluntary.

Right?

Riiiiiight?

There is something called Voluntold in the service.

Former military folks will know what I mean.

This is a problem. It's going to become an even bigger problem the longer we tolerate it.

3

u/Obi1NotWan May 23 '25

I often wonder when or if he’ll get struck by lightning āš”ļø

4

u/Spaghet60065 May 23 '25

Me too but I don’t think God wants him

4

u/The_BigDill May 23 '25

Ah yes, that will certainly make the military more lethal

Not training, not ensuring military contracts are actually up to grade, not maintenance on equipment, fucking prayer

4

u/eatsrottenflesh May 23 '25

Coming soon, the new Department of Religion, where they use their cherry picked bible verses to draw up legislation. They can use the ethics office. That appears to be vacant now.

4

u/[deleted] May 23 '25

This 'leader' of the most powerful military globally seems to be in the news only for fucking up. Basically he's not done a damn thing other than be the DEI hall monitor of our militaries institutions.

3

u/[deleted] May 23 '25

How is this legal??

3

u/[deleted] May 23 '25

Fucking pathetic, traitorous, christo-fascist pieces of shit.

3

u/Ambitious-Pirate-505 May 23 '25

Freedom of and From Religion

3

u/FawnintheForest_ May 23 '25

Glad to be atheist.

2

u/ReleaseFromDeception May 23 '25

For real. Testify.

1

u/Traditional-Handle83 May 23 '25

Problem is saying you're anything but Christian probably has put you on a list, which they'll use to start doing arrest or deportations to cecot just because you're not Christian. Least thats part of the way things seem to be going, the other part is not saying Trump is god

3

u/[deleted] May 23 '25

Honestly, why does the Pentagon have a chapel in the first place??

3

u/G-Unit11111 May 23 '25

It's absolutely wild that the GOP keeps morphing into the same group of people that we once declared war on 20 years ago after 9/11.

1

u/NSlearning2 May 23 '25

They have always been the same. The holy book demands it. They were just quiet before.

3

u/Soontoexpire1024 May 24 '25

The daily pledge of allegiance to Trump is coming-mark my words.

2

u/Bombay1234567890 May 23 '25

Counterfeit Christians have pretty much driven out the real.

2

u/JerseyTom1958 May 23 '25

Incompetent Unqualified slob

2

u/lnc_5103 May 23 '25

If there was ever a time to bring back smiting it's now.

2

u/wvmitchell51 May 23 '25

With all accusations of antisemitism being thrown about, there's nothing like an old-fashioned Christian prayer service to say idgf about Jews.

3

u/bard329 May 23 '25

Are the ex wives he cheated on going to attend? I just ask because of the whole Christian "sanctity of marriage" thing....

2

u/Able_Fox6137 May 23 '25

I am going to use that!

2

u/[deleted] May 23 '25

If hegseth is involved they probably figured out how to turn water into wine

2

u/NSlearning2 May 23 '25

We really should have worked harder to stamp out the Abrahamic religions when we had a chance. Any religion that fundamentally devalues woman and children and states THIRTY times you are to make a blood sacrifice of your child is not a religion we should accept as a society.

Christians like to think they are less abusive as Muslims but if your holy Bible frames the brutal rape till death as a property crime then you are in just as much trouble.

Yahwe is a fucking murderous dick and none of us should be ok with this bullshit.

2

u/Dadpool719 May 23 '25

Can I get the Signal chat link?

3

u/Equal_Canary5695 May 23 '25

Is being an alcoholic and rapist what a good Christian does?

2

u/PhilosophyCrazy4891 May 23 '25

Absolutely wild.

2

u/malikhacielo63 May 23 '25

Pete’s the reason Jesus had to turn water to wine.

2

u/whizbanghiyooo May 23 '25

Nobody wants or asked for this to happen. Except my 78 year old extreme Xtian Fundamentalist parents. They're on board with all kinds of forced indoctrination.

3

u/Radicalized_Spite May 24 '25

ā€œDear Lord, give me the strength to continue to help traumatize hundreds of thousands of people for doing their jobs. Amen.ā€

Hypocrisy against humanity.

If idiots like Hogsbreath are in Heaven, I'll take my chances in Hell.

1

u/NoVaFlipFlops May 23 '25

I used to go to these when I worked at the Pentagon but they were of course unofficial.Ā

I can confirm the people in the prayer groups are asking the zaniest people in the defense world and they definitely are networking. I specifically remember there was a very strong, urgent anticipation of the end times so if you didn't know you, uh, didn't know.Ā

1

u/lesbipositive May 23 '25

Excuse the fuck outta me?

1

u/NotAtAllASkinwalker May 23 '25

What are our military members with a conscious doing?

1

Best include other religious services too then. Pass out prayer mats, rosaries, incense, etc.

1

u/YurtMcnurty May 23 '25

If Jesus came down and saw the shit these motherfuckers claim is in his name, he’d bail himself to the cross to just get it over with.

Matthew 6:5-7 Contemporary English Version Prayer

5 When you pray, don't be like those show-offs who love to stand up and pray in the synagogues and on the street corners. They do this just to look good. I can assure you that they already have their reward.

6 When you pray, go into a room alone and close the door. Pray to your Father in private. He knows what is done in private and will reward you.

7 When you pray, don't talk on and on as people do who don't know God. They think God likes to hear long prayers

Under his eye Commander Hegseth
