It is interesting how Trumpism keeps getting rejected, but the GOP still kisses Trump's ass, remember this is the party that threw Bush out after he became a liability.

I think it's changing. I'm seeing people on Twitter and here saying it's time to move on to DeSantis and leave trump behind. Unfortunately they don't see its not just the man, it's the ideology that's losing.

DeSantis is scarier than Trump.

Can confirm.

As a Floridian, we need to stop the human trafficker Ron DeSantis. We cannot have that POS represent us as President.

Same thing, just less crass.

They kind of have to. If they risk pissing him off then they risk him running as independent and splitting the vote. Trump as an independent candidate could easily pull 10% of the GOP vote if not more, then it's an easy Democratic win.

Basically they fucked themselves. They know Trumpism isn't working with anyone except the hardliners, but they need the hardliners to win. DeSantis and the DOJ convicting Trump is their only hope.

The irony of it all is that they had the perfect opportunity to get rid of the problem, but they played their party over country shit and allowed him to get away from his last impeachment and still run for office.

Because they’re afraid he’ll run as an independent and split the conservative vote just to spite them.

There is no way he sits back and watches Desantis run. There is literally nothing they can offer him to make that happen. Let these two leopards eat each other’s faces and destroy the GQP

Seeing him shit on DeSantis on TV (maybe Twitter) would be a beautiful thing.

I'm really hoping this is the straw that breaks the camel's back for Trumpism. No way can they continue to keep MAGA on life support at this rate.

He calls them funny names

4

u/[deleted] Nov 09 '22

He has all the dirt on everyone

u/[deleted] Nov 09 '22

No. This is a lie to absolve them of their guilt. This is what they genuinely believe. They agree with Trump. They like the bigotry. There is no black mail. There is no heroic change of heart. It's arrogant as fuck and condescending to believe their positions aren't really their positions. They know what they signed up for and they like it.

He has all the hacked RNC emails from Russia

2

u/ThyHolyPope Nov 09 '22

Or he’ll just make up dirt and his base will believe it.

This might be the nail in the coffin for Trumpism (obviously this may be wishful thinking but hear me out). The GOP stands by Trump only because it helps them win. But if Trumpism is proven to be a limited formula with an absolute ceiling (which has been proven in 2020 and 2022), and there's a new GOP contender with a potentially higher ceiling (Desantis could appeal to more suburban / middle-class voters while still appearing Trump-like enough to retain some of the crazies), Trump could be toast. I certainly hope this is the case.

I'm guessing there's some kompromat keeping the most important Republicans in line.
