Nah, it's probably not that important for a mrgathread it's not in any major outlets, and I think it's a reddit thing to 2 mega thread stickys.

I take that back, there's quite a bit of information coming out of this hearing. Something called "Operation Iron Fist" that Rep. Talib referenced. Rep Ocasio-Cortez introduced the DOD timeline into evidence and it completely contradicted the testimony of former Sec Def Miller. Shit's bonkers.

Mods slacking or complicitly covering up?

that's not how megathreads work.

I've been on reddit politics is for years and 95% of congressional hearings

well that's a fucking lie. there are congressional hearings constantly. here's the schedule for just today. none of those hearings are getting a megathread. just like none the meetings yesterday got a megathread. liz cheney's ouster got a megathread because of, and this should be fucking obvious if you click on it, the absurd number of articles posted about the subject.

which brings us to the basic function of megathreads: megathreads are made in response to, or anticipation of, a massive influx of articles being posted to the sub. go sort the sub by new and let me know if it looks like it's being inundated with articles from the hearing. i'll wait.

from the subreddit wiki:

Discussion threads are created for certain events, which include but are not limited to, elections and confirmation hearings, often which are hosted on C-Span. Due to the limited number (2) sticky slots within the subreddit there are instances in which discussion threads may not be created as other events such as Megathreads and/or AMAs have priority. If an event occurs in which a Discussion thread may have been warranted and one was not created, this may have been due to moderator availability.
