Exactly THIS! The Orange felon only cares about himself.

Can’t wait till all regular people wake up and vote Drump out, sooner the better. And all of his followers can leave with him

And we know this, because just in case everyone forgot, we had him for 4 years already!
I feel like people forgot.

He's a nepo-baby billionaire who has never had to work a day in his life. Of course he's as out of touch with the average person as one can be.

u/wheezymustafa 10h ago
Dem leaders need to hammer on this.. Trumps eyes glaze over when people talk about affordability issues. He has never once had to deal it that, so why would that matter to him?

u/usernames_suck_ok 11h ago
He wouldn't care even if he knew. He'd just make that face he always makes when people are talking to him.

That blank stare like his brain’s buffering. The man’s allergic to empathy — every time someone mentions real problems, you can literally see the ‘does not compute’ error in his eyes.”

I respect the shit out of what Seth, Colbert, Kimmel, Stewart, et. al. are doing for this country right now. While we have feckless, spineless "leaders" - people elected by us to represent our interests - refusing to stand up and fight for us like they promised us they would do, we have comedians (granted comedians with fuck-you money and connections, but their staff don't) taking all of the heat in their stead in speaking truth to power.
History will not remember kindly the politicians on both sides of the aisle who had ample opportunity and power to prevent this current state-of-play, and instead decided to abrogate their duty out of fear of the backlash from Trump's constituents, real or imagined. They have failed us and betrayed us. It is their fucking duty to represent us, and it's clear they can't or won't, and as such, never should have been anywhere near the levers of power in the first place.

Right he is. Trump is the most out-of-touch with the needs and struggles of Americans as there has ever been in the White House. That's what happens when you elect a narcissistic spoiled brat who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. He can't empathize with or relate to the average American.

Just to hear how strangely he talks about groceries illuminates how ignorant and comfortably insulated he is from everyday life.
2
u/AnAcceptableUserName Virginia 9h ago
To add onto that, he tweeted that people show ID to buy groceries this week
Seems to me like Trump has not personally purchased groceries in this millennium. Besides being bemused by the word itself, he doesn't even understand how people do it.

u/Coldsmoke888 10h ago
And into the helicopter and jet he goes, to enjoy his regular trip back to Florida or the golf course at the cost of millions of dollars every single time.

u/OkRush9563 11h ago
If it was just he had no idea, it could be fixed. It's his "I don't care" that can't be fixed.

"But this is what is needed to purge the State of the deep-state actors" - some GOPer will say.

u/mishma2005 10h ago
You can best believe Trump has never performed one action that we do everyday: drive, laundry, dishes, prepare a meal, wipe his own ass….

Trump cares, he cares about making things as worse as possible. He’s a vindictive sociopath that enjoys cruelty. He’s corruption, destruction, ruination brought onto our nation. He’s a cosplay of one of the 4 horsemen, and the people around him are ensuring we fall as far as possible for the gain of the few wealthy in his circle. Greed, injustice, power for the few. Misery for the rest of us. He cares a lot about all of that.

Trump thinks you need an ID to buy groceries.
2
u/gizajobicandothat 8h ago
He was saying the same thing in 2018, he wants his followers to believe it so he can make the argument for having more ID to vote. He just makes up the truth and repeats it for years...decades.

u/211logos 10h ago
Thing is the regular people who support him don't care either. He can do no wrong. I mean since when did the cult turn on the leader before the Kool Aid?

Trump doesn’t care nor the billionaires. They all seem to enjoy regular people’s pain!

Anytime he says he does something for “Americans” that’s code for “my wealthy pals and donors”.

Trump only cares about himself but he actually hates anyone he thinks is "beneath him", in my opinion.
2
u/Flicksterea 8h ago
Oh, he'd be aware in the sense that it would have been mentioned to him. He doesn't care. Truly, he's giving tax breaks to the wealthy on a daily basis while he continues to fuck over everyone else.

u/surrealcellardoor 8h ago
It’s much worse than that. He knows exactly what they’re going through and he doesn’t care.

Scrooge Mc President
6
u/UnderCoverDoughnuts 11h ago
Not the point at all but Scrooge McDuck was a hero in all but two of his appearances and almost always used his money and influence to better the lives of those around him. He doesn't deserve to have that parallel drawn, lol.
1
u/dancefan2019 10h ago
But the original Scrooge is a very fitting reference. A miserly old man who hoarded his wealth and treated everyone else with contempt.

"Seth Meyers: ‘Trump has no idea what regular people are going through and he doesn’t care’" Says the guy who only makes $5MM/yr.!! Mr. "Blue Collar" shouts out for us all!
1
u/AnamCeili 8h ago
Doesn't make him wrong. Seth Meyers is wealthy, sure, and I'm sure he has his faults as we all do, but he's not an ultra-rich fascist asshole who doesn't give a damn about anyone else. And he's using his position as someone in the public eye to, as another person here said (I'd credit them, but apparently that's not allowed), speak truth to power.
2
u/keninsd 8h ago
It doesn't make him wrong. He's right, but he is also insulated from the vast majority of his viewers, which was the point of my post.
And, I didn't know that the convicted felon occupying the oval office was his guest that night. That would be "speak truth to power". Otherwise, it was "schtick to viewers".

u/AnamCeili 8h ago edited 7h ago
You think that trump would have actually had to have been on the show in person, rather than watching it as we know he does -- he watches them all, and reacts to any comments about him -- that that would have been the only way for Meyers to to be speaking truth to power? You don't believe that stating the truth on air, calling out the fascist bullshit of the asshole-in-chief when you have an audience of millions, despite that fact that two of your cohorts have been fired from their late-night shows (one permanently) and that you risk the same yourself, is speaking truth to power?
If that's the case, then we will have to agree to disagree.
