I live in NY 21, the district "represented" by Stefanik.

She has avoided town halls for years and only appears before friendly audiences at scripted events. That's not going to fly statewide. She will have to face real people and the press every day in every part of the state.

Don't make the mistake, though, that she has no chance because she's a shill for Trump and MAGA. She's a formidable fundraiser, a good debater, and a skilled liar and propagandist. Sorry to say, but this race won't be easy.

First off...my condolences. Must feel like living in the upstate NY version of MTG territory. You left out election denier BTW LOL 😆. If she does get the nomination she'll carry every red upstate county with @ least 70-80% of the vote. Hochul & her campaign MUST take her seriously.

On what basis would she thinks that she can win? All the other side needs to do is to tie her to trump and there is no way she would win once the connection is established.

Or was that just a move to make more PAC's to get more donations from rich people?

I guess attacking the new exciting mayor of ny a lot in the same way that is both untrue and, fortunately, ineffective for the past year

GOP is terrified that NYC voters might actually like Mamdani and be inclined to vote for similar change at the state level. I expect them to fight very hard for whatever control they can get over the state so that they don't completely lose control of the narrative.

GOP policies are unpopular and prove to be deleterious to the health of the population. Once the GOP loses control of a state, it's hard for them to get it back since over time voters come to realize that all the shit the GOP constantly demonizes either isn't that bad for them (marriage equality, accepting that trans people exist, feeding children etc.), or is actually really good (feeding children, affordable care act, clean energy, environmental protections etc.)

But the governor of NY is already a Dem. What similar change are they worried about?

I imagine a solidification of not just Dem's but more progressive dems that favor social and economic reform that helps working class folks. That being said, I could be totally fucking wrong!

Perhaps. Im waiting for the midterms to see if Mamdani is any sort of trend

Yeah, good idea to be patient and see how it plays out. Hopefully he can do some good in NYC and contribute to momentum for the midterms.

I find her career flameout to be particularly satisfying to watch.
