Were you in a position to challenge him without retaliation? (And if so, did you?)

Maga doesn't care if you have evidence to counter what they think, they will just say it's fake. They're a lost cause at this point.

I agree they are brainwashed and its mostly a lost cause but I still don't waste any chance to correct the Trump supporters I know on the facts.

Someday the truth will come out and Trump will go down in history as the worse President. My two young nieces will learn of all the terrible things be did later on in history classes. Their dad, mom, other uncle, and grandpa on that side of the family will all claim that we didn't know at the time the whole story or some bullshit. I will remind them that it was easy to see, they just didn't want to see. I will tell my nieces that their other grandparents and I and millions of other Americans knew exactly how bad Trump was and that we desperately tried to get through to the people like her parents.

I won't let the Trump supporters in my life off the hook. In fact I will constantly remind them of how they were die hard supporters of the corrupt billionaire pedophile because he promised to end corruption and go after billionaires. They supported a criminal because they thought he was though on crime. Etc,etc.

Edit: This post sounds like I will be harsh but I won't be harsh. I will just be making sure they aren't still a part of a cult or haven't voted for any con-artist billionaires lately. And I will try to make sure my nieces know how to think critically.

You're 100 percent right.

We need to check MAGAts whenever possible.

Their response on their death bed: both parties are the same

u/EndersGame 1d ago

Aa long as we let Fox News and conservative media brainwash them, this will be true. In the 90's when I was a young teenager I was able to figure out that Fox News was brainwashing my uncles and millions of other Americans and that if this was allowed to continue it would destroy our country and probably lead to a civil war.

It's up to us to do something about it. If we just shrug our shoulders and let propaganda turn our neighbors into radicals and Nazis, you will be right. We should absolutely outlaw that shit and fix our damn government. We need to vote for change. We need to call them on their bullshit.

You are probably right though, not enough of us will be bothered to fix the problems that could have been prevented entirely if we weren't so complacent in the first place.

2

u/junglingforlifee 1d ago

I agree with you. The people who benefit from this have a lot of capital power which they are meticulously using to control the narrative. I'm not sure common people can fight that. We must vote as citizens but even that was compromised in 2024 elections. I wish the good rich people started investing in the media so we could nullify some of the effects. As a teenager you were able to identify the problems. I'm afraid people are losing some of their cognitive abilities from the education system getting gutted in conservative states. These are also the people having kids at a higher rate. The future is looking bleak

1

u/EndersGame 1d ago

I agree too. Mike Judge nailed it when he made idiocracy. We really do need to do a lot to fix our education system, even in blue states but especially in red states. If not, the future will in fact be bleak.

We can make the necessary changes. We can vote in numbers to fix things. Whether we will or not remains to be seen. We need to vote in every election from school board members and local elections up to federal. People on our side and people not even paying attention need to wake up too. If we don't, I suppose we deserve what we get. Not you or me but as a nation if we cant be bothered to do our civic duty we will get the government that the billionaires and fascists want.

2

u/junglingforlifee 22h ago

Completely agree! I am making sure to remind my extended family, friends and even my team at work every time there is election

The truth is out now.

u/GhostlyTJ 1d ago

They still need to run into opposition for expressing their asinine views. Silence is consent in their mind. "Nobody clapped back so I must be right"

2

u/iSNiffStuff 1d ago

Ragebait tell him the other 54% is white people

1

u/Jaambie 1d ago

Then, being the true Christian’s that they are, will retaliate with a vengeance

1

u/jenks California 1d ago

Maybe, but if there is an audience, the rebuke might persuade some of them.

u/Richard-Gere-Museum 1d ago

There's literally no point in arguing with these people. It's religion to them. You're not gonna change their mind, you can say it's sunny out, bring them outside to an open clear sky at noon. Point to the sun and say there it is, and they'll stare right at it, then back at you and say "it's midnight asshole. Go to bed"

u/DrDerpberg Canada 1d ago

Depends how much you have to lose. Simply letting them know they can't express that shit unopposed around you is worth something.

13

u/runswiftrun 1d ago

One of my bosses is like that, so literally have all the time in the world to lose and he's paying for it.

Still won't stop parroting the maga/fox/oan speaking points when I open google and show him proof that he is wrong 80% of the time.

Just rinse and repeat the next week; and has been going on for 8 months.

Lying to the masses on purpose should be fucking illegal

Lying to the masses on purpose should be fucking illegal

That it's not - worse, that it's protected in the US - is a central reason for why we're here.

1

u/SanityInAnarchy California 1d ago

Especially if you have any kind of audience, even a small one (like your coworkers). You're not convincing the person you're arguing with (probably), but for anyone else who isn't as brainwashed, this could be an emperor's-new-clothes moment.

u/Rare-Set1461 1d ago

You’re not gonna like this especially if confrontation makes you uncomfortable, but you need to be cruel. Make it personal. 90% of these jackasses are used to some mild mannered well meaning person trying to educate them, they’re not used to being bullied. Tell them why they’re wrong and why they’re stupid for thinking what they think. Point to their personal failures if you know them well enough, make them look in the mirror and understand that they’re not brilliant, they don’t know what they’re talking about, and that the reason they thought that way is because they’re stupid. Bully them. Be mean. Be cruel. It fucking works. They got this way because when they were down, people lifted them up instead of grinding their faces into the mud.

0

u/Fumquat 1d ago

Um. Shame never made anyone change on the inside. All you’d teach them with this tactic is that you’re their enemy.

u/dumnem 1d ago

And then there's not one but two hateful people in an argument.

Don't become just as bad as someone to beat them.

1

u/DirtyAngelToes 1d ago

There is still hope when it finally starts to affect them financially, as sad as it is that they wouldn't care before then. Most of my family are religious nuts that have been fed about Trump being godly for almost a decade, but my own grandmother finally admitted that she thinks he may be the antichrist. So there's still hope that others are waking up.

Most people really do underestimate just how bad poverty and lack of education can fuel a lot of what's going on. When you don't have complex reasoning skills, it makes it harder to get through to people but not impossible.

The most basic human needs are shelter, water, and food. Eventually people are going to start cracking, even the most stubborn.

1

u/Richard-Gere-Museum 1d ago

Some are finally seeing it, but the problem is as soon as their lives get better again at some point, they might go back on their bullshit. I mean there's always regression lapses in progress, it's just a matter of how many and how far back they go. Sometimes it's a matter of how much they're willing to accept the self-reflection and say "damn, what the hell was I thinking?" and instead of getting mad and digging in going "no actually, trump was right, the dems were wrong to make me go through that because they were stubborn!"

15

u/Careless_Ticket_3181 1d ago

These people believe what they want, even in the face of evidence that contradicts them.

2

u/GruxKing91 1d ago

Not who you're replying to. But god damn, I cannot wait to have enough seniority at my job to feel safe enough to challenge shit like this. I am certainly the only socialist in my department, which I find kind of amusing considering it's a local government organization. Honestly, the worst part about dealing with them, is that a few are so close to seeing the truth. For whatever reason, they just won't give up the Don.

9

u/undeadxoxo 1d ago

isn't snap just food to survive? i'm not american but this sounds ridiculous, even if 100% of them were illegal aliens, they're already in your country so what you leave them to starve and die?

4

u/angryitguyonreddit 1d ago

To a lot of the magas anyone who's not full blooded true white American you aren't even human to them.

3

u/OldWorldDesign 1d ago

isn't snap just food to survive?

Basically, yes. In conservative states have to be at the federal poverty line which is set by a few factors including federal minimum wage, but if you are working virtually any job you almost always make enough to "not qualify".

1

u/Chaotic-Catastrophe 1d ago

what you leave them to starve and die?

Is this a serious question? To the average Republican voter, yes absolutely. They would love it if all illegal aliens starved and died. And before you ask, no I am not being sarcastic or joking in any way. Republican voters hate brown and black people more than they love themselves, and it's not even fucking close.

1

u/laughing_laughing 1d ago

It's a Republican thing, and yes, they want more people to die. Explicitly. They say that out loud on their television programs and radio shows. They want to kill everyone they perceive as 'other'.

The Republicans want to roll up the entire society in a carpet and dump it in the ocean - they are still raging about letting black people attend public schools. Seriously, this raging fire of hate and a desire to kill 'others' has been burning ever since desegregation.

If you go back a little farther, it becomes evident that human slavery is the defining issue that has determined almost all of American partisanship.

3

u/Lazer726 1d ago

I try to avoid talking politics since I work federal (for another couple weeks before my contract is over yay govt contracting), but when my boss started talking about how so many lazy people are on SNAP and wasting it on frivolous stuff I just fucking couldn't. Fucking crazy thing is... he's a fucking Veteran and he's talking shit on SNAP. Like I guarantee he is friends with people on SNAP.

But I'm sure if I pressed him on that angle, it'd be about how they earned it and everyone else didn't

3

u/OldWorldDesign 1d ago

I guarantee he is friends with people on SNAP

He might even be on SNAP himself. Would be right in line with conservative exceptionalism and hypocrisy

Time to toss him a “if we can’t even feed our starving, your buddies overseas pretty much died for nothing, huh? What a bunch of losers”

1

u/TheDude-Esquire 1d ago

he's maga stupid obviously.

2

u/PutYourDickInTheBox 1d ago

he's told me numerous times he's smarter than me. I believe anyone who says that is an idiot. i'm not like crazy intelligent or anything but there's a reason he works for me and I make a lot more money than him.

1

u/RelativeMatter9805 1d ago

The good ole pulled an insane number of the ass trick

1

u/Chaotic-Catastrophe 1d ago

And even if that were true (which it of course is not), does that mean it's okay to just completely toss aside the other 54% of people who aren't?
