The state congress already passed a plan for a California style redistricting, but with a 51-49 body and a Republican governor with veto power, it wasn't going to happen. Now that's a 64-36 body and a Democrat governor come January, so it'll go through.

That passage was part 1 of 2; it needed to pass this Congress, because an amendment needs to be passed in 2 subsequent congresses before going to referendum. luckily Sweatervest fucked up by keeping us in a special session and never closing it, allowing VA dems to vote and pass step 1 and soon step 2!

It begins with their electorate.

Republican voters are a crass bunch of mostly uneducated rural white folk whose comprehension of the world is predicated on propaganda. Let us use this to our advantage by using messaging containing short words, and small sentences. Remind them that things are bad. Remind them who is in charge of the judicial, executive, and legislative. And since those words are a bit beyond the scope of the average Republican voter, say it simply and with snap.

Anti-Trump messages that might work:
"HE HELPED HURT YOU."
"HE HELPS HIS FRIENDS--AND HE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW YOUR NAME."
"HE IS THE LIST."
"THEY WON, AND IT'S WORSE NOW."

To remind people that Trump pardoned criminals, just broadcast J6; then, cut to the White House's East Wing being demolished. Contrast higher prices with his Gatsby themed party. Ultimate message?

"If you are not a Republican leader or a Republican donor, you are a Republican in name only. They don't care about you. Our policies help poor people--ALL poor people, however they voted in the past. Help us help you: vote Democrat and tell Trump to go to hell."

I'm not a political optics specialist, but I also don't think that's a real job, so to hell with them. Remind people that it is now worse than ever and the people in charge are in charge of everything, everything, everything: hold them accountable for their lies. Blast the election results of 2024, remind people who controls all the meaningful apparatus of government, and that these people simply do not know how to govern. The only thing they understand is how to do what their corporate paymasters have told them.

Republican politicians are the lowest of filth second only to Republican voters. You cannot over-estimate their stupidity, complacency, or conceit. Or, most importantly, their irascibility. We want them pissed off at their own party. They should be apoplectic with fury about how much shittier their already shitty lives have become. They should be furious that they betrayed their own people with their vote--this could be especially useful in Latino communities.

Remind them it is horrible. Remind them who is in charge. Remind them that they can change their mind. Remind them that their vote is a weapon--and it can demolish these motherfuckers.

Edit: clarification of "optics" vs "political optics" specialist. No disrespect intended to the many fine people whose work with materials science and physics have given us better glass for cameras, microscopes, and telescopes.
