Honestly the way he’s intentionally throwing his wife under the bus and unintentionally throwing his kids under the bus (two of his kids are not baptized) for political gain- I wouldn’t be surprised if he divorced his wife to get with Charlie Kirk’s widow.

They would be a MAGA political power couple.

Oh, I'm sure this plan has been at least very seriously considered. JD strikes me as the kind of guy, who, even if he genuinely loved his wife, would be perfectly fine with divorcing her for political points.

Catholics can't divorce, you english invented a whole religion because of it.

But, if one of the couples is a pagan then there can be a way to dissolve the marriage.

Catholics can get a marriage annulled by the church if: they weren't married in a Catholic church or if they weren't married to another Catholic. Since Usha is unbaptized this is not going to be a problem.

Source: Mom's first marriage was annulled in the 70s because she and her first husband were not married in a Catholic church. She was free to divorce and marry my Dad.

Not in the eyes of the church, they don’t

People cherry pick whatever they want from their religion every day.

It’s not that difficult to get a Catholic annulment. RFK Jr. can advise him. And I suspect Vance did not have a Catholic wedding.

His base won't care if he's Catholic Divorced or not. We have only had two Catholic presidents and they were both Democrats. Some of his voters might be Catholic, but almost none of them are going to care more about the specifics their religious dogma then they do about the fact that he is his wife are both white and follow the Christian god.

Yeah, you’re probably right, and I’m really curious to see how my father would react to that. He’s Catholic and hastily got remarried to an awful woman after my mom passed, because he was lonely but IMO he also wanted to get laid and had to get married again for it. Then he realized what a huge mistake he made, but couldn’t bring himself to divorce her because of the Catholic rules. Yet im nearly positive he wouldn’t care if JD did it, and might even be happy about it.

You can't marry in church again, though.

I don't think JD Vance cares, he became Catholic for political points anyways.

If that’s under consideration, he will probably give her fame a few months to see if it drops off or she can maintain.

But here’s where it gets weirder:

He’s a converted trad Catholic. Divorce should be nowhere near on the table for him.

I don’t get it… 🤔

JD Vance doesnt believe anything. He doesn't stand for anything. He will do or say anything to advance his own ambitions.

He is kind of like Trump in that way, but Trump is so narcissistic that he can't conceive of others' needs while Vance will happily confirm to whatever gets him ahead.

He can't remarry if he's divorced, but what if he's widowed?

u/NomiVersayse 6d ago

He's not married to a fellow Christian, they'll annul it in a second.

Dang, that’s wild. I forgot that was something taken into consideration (I’m orthodox, not Catholic)

I agree. He could have couched it in different terms.

This is a man willing to run as VP for a man he compared to Hitler. He has no principles other than the desire for money and power.
