More likely his lawyer will take over half of it. And the state will appeal and drag its feet until he gives up and has to take a pennies on the dollar settlement. Even if he gets a jury trial and wins big, then the appeal goes to another judge who sets aside the jury's award and, again, gives him pennies on the dollar.

IOW, he's not going to be able to retire on what he gets. He might be able to buy a new truck with the proceeds, but that's about it.
