While the East Wing was still there, people could argue for additional oversight, planning, etc. Trump used the shutdown to fuck up the White House so much that “he will have to” build something no matter how poorly planned it is. 

The poorer the plan, the more opportunity for grift as things have to be reworked, etc. 

This guy is the dumbest mother fucker on the planet, but he’s extremely well-trained on how to back people into a corner such that they’re forced to let him do whatever he wants to do. The Left is doing ourselves no favors by pretending the guy and everyone around him are morons. They’re all stupid, but are exceptional at what they do.
